What genre?

Anything by Shakespeare. His first name was Willaim after all. :)

No, they have to go in order and it skips to the next one if you don't have that one. I intentionally skipped some :)

You might find some here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

You have to filter out the character names though.

There's also this if you just want names. I read something by W.E.B. Griffin.

I'm still confused. I have:

Cat +4
Puppy +2
- Horse +2
- Growth Weapon Enhancement bauble
- Shield -1
- Slingshot -1
- All Health Gems (HP lowers by amount of Health Gem loss)+1 HP
- Orb of Fire +3 and Orb of Earth
- (repeat til end of fight) 2 levels of each weapon (does not go below level 0

What about pet rock?
What about green gem?

Can't I lose the cat after round 1?

At the end of each round the topmost item(s) that your hero has will be wiped out and you will be unable to use it. If you do not have a particular item or it has already been erased, skip it and go to the next item. The correction fluid will wear off of your items one week after it is applied.
- Puppy
- Horse
- Growth Weapon Enhancement bauble
- Shield
- Slingshot
- All Health Gems (HP lowers by amount of Health Gem loss)
- Orb of Fire and Orb of Earth
- (repeat til end of fight) 2 levels of each weapon (does not go below level 0)

So after the first round you lose puppy, after the second you lose horse, etc.

If someone didn't have horse, the first round they'd lose puppy, then they'd lose the growth weapon bauble. The shield gems are all lumped under the shield. Pet rock I let people keep :) It is supposed to be an evil fight.

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Just because the cat isn't on your list -- I would still be able to use it in round 1-- correct?

If I want to piggyback Battles between Plague Bringer and Correction Fluid I need the White Gem Correct?

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Yes, cat you can use.

You can still fight diseased but you probably won't want to.

Zuzana | 2570 comments Reva wrote: "HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THIS GAME

1. Have fun. Do the things that you enjoy the best. The nice thing about the quests is that there is something for everyone and that you can go at your own pace.

If you are an occasional reader, you may just enjoy completing the quests. If you are a moderate or heavy reader you may want to combine the quests with combat against the monsters. THERE IS NO RIGHT WAY TO PLAY THIS GAME. Do what floats your boat. ;-)

The nice thing about this game is the friendly comraderie. Come to The Tavern often to share brews and the occasional rat stew or drop bear steak with fellow knights and ladies. Ask questions, tell jokes, talk about what's happening in your life-- it's all ok. Even if a question has been asked before, don't feel shy about asking for further clarification.
"

Great write up, Reva. I totally love the first part. :D You're right, there's no right/wrong way to play the game. What's most important is to have fun!

message 4867: by Zuzana (last edited Jan 16, 2016 10:04AM) (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments Just a little correction here:

Things such as The Slingshot, Pet Rock 1, Minor Poison Potion and Shield reduce the strength of a monster's attack on your Hero.

The Slingshot and minor poison don't belong under defence, they don't reduce your opponent's attack power. They are both offensive tools. They boost your hero's attacks.

What you can add to the defence category is The Blue gem and the Shield Potion. :)

message 4868: by Zuzana (last edited Jan 16, 2016 01:21PM) (new)

Zuzana | 2570 comments There's not much to write about healing potions vs. meals cooked in the kitchen. But here are some general recommendations regarding healing:

Healing by spelling healing words is highly ineffective.
Instead of exchanging 1 book for 1 health point, "invest" your book into either of scrounger hunt quests and get a minor heal potion (which equals 5 health points for your hero) OR
head to Jack and Jill's Caravan Hill and if it fits, sell your book in classifieds. You get 3 gold and you can buy a minor heal potion for that price (again you get 5 health points instead of 1)

If you don't read tons of books then kitchen is not a productive way to heal your hero. There are initial costs for building it (10 books) and recipes and ingredients are a costly affair, too. Buying potions or scrounger hunts are way cheaper.

Personally I like to do healing potions quests like "Everybody lies", "The tournament of Alka", "Academy", etc. Thus obtained potions are more costly than those bought from Jack or exchanged in scrounger hunts BUT apart from potions themselves they bring you experience points as well. Not to mention the giddy feeling of another completed quest. :)

Also important to know: There are objects and pets that can help you with healing:

If you're new to the game then a bunny is a pet you want to obtain as fast as possible. (It brings you +3 HP every week).
After you sufficiently build up your attack power kill the Blue Dragon to obtain the Orb of Water, it heals +1 HP at the end of every battle your hero wins. Killing all 10 Rocks will bring you 10 pebbles you can exchange for Rocky the Pet, it has the same effect as the orb.

Last but not least: Don't forget that everytime your hero levels up his health is automatically restored to the maximum!!! Plan your killings and quests accordingly. Try to "waste" as much HPs as possible before (not after) leveling up , i.e. kill as much monsters as you can and then level up by completing a quest/quests.

And don't forget, it's your game. So if cooking healthy meals in your very own kitchen is what you want then go for it and have fun. :)

you can reread as many as you want. Only rule we had is that you can't use same book for same task. If I remember correctly :)

My immediate response was that we don't have that rule here and if you really want to re-read the same book over and over again it's ok. I couldn't find any post where I state otherwise but feel free to correct me if you see a previous statement.

We deviate in other ways from the team challenges in that we allow graphic novels since you're really competing against yourself here.

Some people are buying the Hat Hat (50 GOLD coins -- Ack! ) to double the output of bones, wings and tails.

I used 2 transmogrification potions on goblin bones to yield rat tails when I had run short and I needed two to get sheet Level 3. ( Love those scrounger items).

Any reason that you started bauble in Round 2?

(The growth weapon enhancement bauble will increase damage each turn in battle by 1 for a single weapon. (First Turn +1, Second Turn +2, Third Turn +3). Quest may be repeated once for a bauble for your other weapon. When calculating values based on attack power of weapon, each round it must be re-evaluated.)

message 4897: by Reva (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Either that, or make the kitchen more attractive to use. A kitchen bauble that would require less content for recipes. More recipes for other stuff. Or more rooms and/or things in the house to create other goodies.

Loved the bed and sheets.
