Tia (fatgirlfatbooks) I'd say blue as well.

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3798 comments Does anyone have a recommendation for a good book where the main character is a doctor or vet? I have a lot of series where there are recurring characters that are doctors, but none where the MAIN character is a doctor.

Or even a listopia of books?

message 1907: by Tia (new)

Tia (fatgirlfatbooks) Here's one for doctors:
Doctors, Nurses, Healers

I've found that searching for "doctors" on Listopia doesn't give much selection, but searching "surgeons" does - especially if you're looking for a romance.

Here's one for veterinarians:

message 1908: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca (rebeccasg) | 3798 comments Ooh thanks! I couldn't find a good listopia, but I was definitely searching "doctors".

Reva - you reminded me! I think I have Doctor Zhivago on audiobook. I know it was originally written in Russian, so hopefully the audiobook is easy to listen to.

Cathy Galloway | 876 comments I enjoyed Animal Attraction but its the second book in the series. The main character is a vet.

Tia (fatgirlfatbooks) I've been listening to nothing but cat books for the last two days and I'm starting to feel like a crazy cat lady myself, haha!

message 1914: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments I was going to read Confessions of a GP, got it super cheap on kindle.

You're braver than I am. I just read books and if they happen to have a cat, all the better. Cat books and cozys just don't do it for me. Now Kate Scarpetta or Alex Delaware; I can read those series any time.

message 1917: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 2825 comments I have still yet to find any like genuine full on mystery series that I like. I read a ridiculous amount of stand alone mysteries but I can't see to find any decent series of the same type stuff :/

Anyway, nothing wrong with being a crazy cat lady :P Cats aren't as good as dogs but they are better than most people so there you are.

Well, I'm completing this challenge with audiobooks, so just searched "cat" because I wanted to be sure that it'd fit the quest. I think the craziest one yet was The Cat: It's Natural History. But yes, everyone - I'm enjoying my craziness as I scramble to finish up all of April's quests, haha. =p

Another good russian one is A Young Doctor's Notebook. They made a tv adaptation with Daniel Radcliffe in it.

I haven't been looking at cat books yet. I was too busy with the rabbit and the house...

message 1921: by Tia (new)

Tia (fatgirlfatbooks) I'm still caught up with the rabbit myself, Angel, but I'm close - I should have that little bugger by this weekend just in time to get my egg on Sunday. =)

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 4364 comments It's always good to have a cat around. Every read or watched cat's eye. Always have a cat around.

message 1929: by Tia (new)

Tia (fatgirlfatbooks) I'm a cat fan myself, though I don't think I'll be getting the kitten - it doesn't offer me any real benefits because I can one-shot all the basic monsters now. =(

message 1930: by RachelvlehcaR (new)

RachelvlehcaR (charminggirl) | 4364 comments I am not that strong yet. I can only kill sewer rats in one strike. I am working on gold quests at this time.

*coughs* They'll be stronger common monsters coming... and other monsters and well... you'll see soon.

What types do you enjoy?

Noir?
Procedural?
Humourous?
Series from other countries?

message 1939: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 2825 comments I'm not sure. I enjoy "small town mysteries", you know what I mean? Where it's like this buried secret coming to light. Like The Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard or Shoot the Moon by Billie Letts . I'm not really sure that that's a genre type. But I always really like books like that. Which is why I can never find series for them because it's usually just "random man/woman finds out horrific family secret and uncovers the truth."

message 1940: by Alex (new)

Alex | 1018 comments Ok, two midas books to go if I'm going to have any gold for this caravan. Then back to the bunny books. I can do this.

message 1941: by Reva (last edited Apr 23, 2015 02:41PM) (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Cait,

What about early John Grisham? A Time to Kill. He had a lot of stand alone books all with legal themes.

message 1942: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 2825 comments I'll check him out. I think I remember my mom really liking his books as well.

message 1943: by Cait S (new)

Cait S | 2825 comments Two books isn't bad at all, Zee! You can totally handle that. I've got 2 to go as well. And I may or may not cry, depending on how necessary that salt is going to be lol

message 1944: by Kelly (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments There will be another way to get salt too.

Hopefully the new quests will get posted at the end of this weekend.

message 1945: by Reva (last edited Apr 23, 2015 02:49PM) (new)

Reva (revans) | 2481 comments Sue Grafton's Alphabet Series and anything by Sara Paretsky and Janet Evanovich are always great. I also like Julie Smith's New Orleans Series and her San Francisco Series.

I usually drop everything when James Patterson comes out with a book. I particularly like the Alex Cross Series.

That's good to know, Kelly. I'm hoping to not have to spend gold on anything for a little bit otherwise I will never be able to afford that kitten.

I'll be buying one book this round (assuming someone has what I need available) and then forcing myself to stay off the thread lol

I read The Firm and The Pelican Brief and The Client and The Runaway Jury each straight through the night when they came out. All Grishams other work are good too but the above were particular favourites.
