Can you believe there's only 6 weeks left in 2020. While this may be a very welcome New Year's this time, it still means that we only have 6 more weeks to meet all of our reading goals. I know I can use all the time I can get...!

With that in mind, the individual challenge this time allows you to very freely choose your books so that you can fit any of those last minute reads.

First, make a numbered list of the next 14 books you would like to read. You will get two free picks so you can add those at the end of your list (#15 and #16) or mix them throughout.

Then, click the spoiler below to see your bingo board. Assign a book to each square based upon the number that it is on your list.

The only object of the game is to score a bingo before the end of the week!

"SPIN" BOARD:
(view spoiler)

Modification for those that are mood readers or use the library (i.e. those who can't pick books ahead of time.

Pick 16 prompts from the list below and write them in order. Give yourself two free spaces if you would like. Then look at the board and assign the prompts to each square, based on their number on the list.

A book related to one of the five senses (sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell)
A book with more than 20 letters in the title
A book with neon on the cover
A book with a day of the week or a month in the title
A book that deals with second chances
A book related to one of the United Nations 2021 "International Year" themes

Amy, I just listed the next couple I have planned for ATY and then all of the books I have checked out from the library. I'm hoping to read 4 this week, so I should be able to pick the other couple from this very long list lol.

Totally understand if it's not the game for you, though. Hopefully you're in on the team challenge, or you can check back throughout the week for more games.

Does this challenge go till the end of the year, or only the dates of the team readathon?

Laura | 3780 comments Mod
Just the read-a-thon. So you would need to finish 4 books to get a Bingo.

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3266 comments I guess I'm a little confused about how this one works. Since the board is already available, and we are able to put our lists in order however we want, couldn't we just make sure that the next 4 books we are planning to read are at numbers that make up a row? Obviously the idea is not to cheat like that, but it seems a bit weird to me.

message 11: by Fee (new)

Fee | 233 comments For the free pick: Shall we choose one of the 14 books we listed or a completely different one?

Up to you! I picked books for my Wild Cards that were different from the other 14, or you could just use it as a "Free Pick" and place whatever book you happen to read there, or you can move one of your books on your list to another position for your Wild Card.

If that's the way you want to go, Rachel, you could. I personally made my list before looking at the board just to make it more of a challenge, as I think it was intended to work.

Just a heads up, I have added a modification for those that do not pick their books ahead of time. You could also do a combination of both if you wish (if you don't want to read the book assigned then do the prompt option instead and choose a book from there).

I absolutely would have done it that way too, had I not seen the board at the same time as the original rules. I clicked on the spoiler tag before realizing that we weren't supposed to until after making the list (it was quite late when I finally saw the thread). I think the way I initially read it, I assumed everyone would be given a different board after they posted their list. My fault for not reading carefully, I guess. Either way, I don't care enough to plan my list according to the order of items on the card, so it will end up being random anyway.

Anyway, I'll have to think about which books to include on my list. I have a ton of books I'd really like to read next, and I'm having trouble figuring out which direction to go (in terms of accomplishing several of my challenge goals).
