January Symbols of the Month
READ: 5/5
✔️Naming: January was named after the Roman God, Janus who oversees openings, doorways, and other similar entryways. Janus has two faces – one looking forward and one looking back. Myths and legends imply that Janus sees all of our past and all our future possibilities.

A Heart So Fierce and Broken - Brigid Kemmerer 1/12
Tree-Fir, Elm, Cypress:
💧Read a book with one of these trees on the cover (Google the tree for images to match with your cover!)
Colors-White & Sky Blue: White is a pure color that represents our inner child, fairness, wholeness, protection and conclusions. This correspondence reminds us that while the cycle of one year has just ended, new beginnings are with us. White brings peace and calm. It is a clean slate waiting for your proverbial pen. Alternatively, some people add pale sky blue as an option.
💧Read a book with either a white or Sky Blue cover
✔️Icons- Birch Tree: Birch is incredibly strong and able to face disaster in the face. In nature if a forest burns, Birch is the first to come back to life. That strength of purpose reflects January very well.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies - Seth Grahame-Smith 1/9

March Symbols of the Month
READ: 6/6
March Symbols:
✔️Naming: The month of March was originally called Mars, a Roman God. The persona of Mars is one as staunch and determined as the Roman spirit. He represents prowess in battle, fighting for a cause (kin and country) and courage. Originally a god of agriculture associated with spring, this visage changed along with the overall atmosphere in Rome. Mind you, the fact that most wars couldn’t be engaged in foul weather didn’t hurt any. Men were eager to strut their skills. Even with all this posturing, March remains a month of promise. Those first tidbits of growth pop through the soil and remind us that renewal is at hand.
*Read a bookwith a warrior like character, a farmer character, or a book with a garden or farm on the cover.
The Princess Knight - G.A. Aiken (heroine is a war monk) 3/10
✔️Gemstone-Aquamarine & Bloodstone: A nickname for Aquamarine is the poor man’s diamond. It derives its name from the Latin term “aqua” (water) and “marina” (from the sea). The beautiful pale blue stone was believed to protect sailors as well as guarantee a safe voyage. Many lightworkers admire the Aquamarine for its tempering nature, keeping emotions on an even keel. Our ancestors felt that wearing Aquamarine could prevent poisoning. Romans carved it into jewelry worn to advance the cause of peace and friendship. In some settings brides would receive a gift of aquamarine for strengthening love. Bloodstone is dark green with bright red spots thanks to the presence of iron oxide. An older name for Bloodstone is heliotrope, a Greek word that means “turn the sun”. Historians think that name came about because of the way Bloodstone reflects light. The Babylonians favored Bloodstone for healing amulets, magical seals and as a divination tool. Egyptians wore it into battle for great success (purportedly the stone made them invisible). Other metaphysical uses for Bloodstone include weather workings, legal success and foreknowledge.
*Read a book with a light blue or dark green cover, a book with a sailor, lighthouse keeper, lawyer, or meteorologist character, or a book where a character works for peace.
Limitations - Scott Turow (MC is a lawyer) 3/15
✔️Flower: Daffodil The daffodil symbolizes forgiveness, honesty, trust and true love. Victorians regarded it as a symbol of truthfulness, the quality of mercy and abiding love. The bright yellow hue of the Daffodil speaks of joy and renewal. This flower is fresh and positive. It inspires clear thinking, high principles and faith.
*Read a book with a Daffodil on the cover, a book with a yellow cover, a book where a character forgives or shows mercy to another character, or a book where a character is joyful or positive
Guys & Dogs - Elaine Fox 3/19

*Read a book with a red cover (any shade)
Immortal Champion - Lisa Hendrix 3/30

✔️Number: 3 In Numerology the meaning of sacred Number 3 has a child-like aspect to it. While creative and expressive, the visionary nature of 3 Neurologically can be misunderstood. It is like the little girl who sees a whole world in a dandelion. 3 is a talkative number. The vibrations of three sustain effective communication and social acumen. Three can also bring out a hearty portion of charisma for some folks. Read a book with a child in it, where a character has to use communication skills effectively, or where a character is creatively expressive in some way. Participants can also

April Symbols of the Month
READ: 6/6
✔️Gemstone-Diamond & Quartz: Meaning invincible (translated from the Greek work "adamas"), the diamond is one of the hardest substances on earth. Diamonds represent deep abiding love even in the most difficult of circumstances. The "healing powers" attributed to diamonds include balance, clarity and energy. The Quartz crystal is somewhat of a diamond impersonator. It’s facets and clarity probably fooled more than one hopeful miner. Quartz offers similar benefits as the diamond but only “dialed down” a bit. We know that Quartz produces energy (think watches). This means that whatever magical vibration of your intent, Quartz magnifies it. This stone aids with manifestation. Tales of old said that Quartz was actually alive, and could be the reincarnation of a God or Goddess. Read a book with a white cover, a book where someone gets engaged, a book where quartz crystals are used in a ceremony of some type, or a book where a character works for clarity in a situation or their life.
The Snowman - Jo Nesbø 4/17

✔️Flower: Daisy and Sweet Pea Daisies symbolize innocence, purity and love that conquers all. The white petals speak of purity and childlike innocence. When you give a Daisy to a friend you are saying that you will keep their secret dutifully.
The other flower for April is Sweet Pea. This flower has an odd dichotomy in that they were sometimes given as a farewell between lovers while also representing bliss. Gardeners love Sweet Pea because they deter flies. Read a book with a Daisy or Sweet Pea on the cover, a book with a white, yellow, or pink cover, a book where a character has an innocent quality to themselves, a book where a secret is kept, or a book where a character is forced to say goodbye to someone or something
Sorcery and the Single Girl - Mindy Klasky 4/15

✔️Color-Red and Pink: Overall, red is very warm, active, stimulating and tied closely to our passions. Symbolically, Red represents leadership, drive and resolve. It also boosts confidence, particularly for proverbial wallflowers. Pink, by comparison, is far gentler. Rather than boisterous, pink symbolizes compassion and a heart full of giving. It is the hue of friendship. Because Pink is a lighter form of Red, there is still an ambiance of intimacy here filled with sensitivity and tenderness. Pink makes us feel comfortable and positive. It calms aggression and anxiety. Read a book with a red or pink cover (any shade)
Dangerous Attachments - Sarah Lovett 4/16

✔️Icons- Wilson Warbler: Besides April’s flowers and birthstones there is a bird associated with this month, namely Wilson’s Warbler. The Warbler has happy feet, often seen dancing among the willows particularly near water. The rhythm of their be-bop matches their song. This music is how you can find them, as they are adept hiders otherwise. As a Spirit Animal or Guide, Warbler brings a message of socialization and cherry days.
Warbler is all about communication and the way in which you deliver messages. Read a book featuring a bird, a character that works with/performs music or dance, or where a character has to open up lines of communication or communicate effectively
Tristan - Liz Gavin (MC is a musician) 4/25
✔️Number: 4 The Four corners of creation, the Four Winds, Four phases of the Moon, Four Elements and seasons – these are stable constants on which we can depend. That stability is the very foundation of the number in Numerology the sacred number Four is predictable – you never have to guess with this energy around. Pythagorean Theorems claim that Four marks perfection, and represents the Divine. In nature we have the Four-leaf clover that conveys luck. Each of the Four leaves has a different meaning – Luck, Faith, Hope and Love. In the Higher Arcana of the Tarot, Four is the Emperor whose power rules over prosperity and power in the Earthly realms. Read a book with a character that strives for perfection, where a character has to use math skills, or where a character is stable or dependable in some way. Participants can also read a book published in April of any year or published in any month of 2004 for this task.

May Symbols of the Month
READ: 7/7
✔️Naming: Its name derives from the Latin term Maia who was the Goddess of Spring in Italy, and later married Vulcan. Her Roman counterpart was Bon Dea, associated with fertility. Her festival was held annually in May. ☀Read a book with a pregnant character, a farmer character, or a book with a flower or flowers, a vegetable garden, or a farm on the cover.
Heartless - Gail Carriger (MC is pregnant) 5/25

✔️Zodiac: (each sign counts as 1 symbol) Taurus until May 20-The Bull (The Taurus sign symbol is usually depicted as a very simple graphic meant to resemble the head of the Bull.): Read a book with a bull on the cover or a book where a character raises cattle for a living Gemini from May 21-The Twins (The Gemini sign symbol is usually depicted as a very simple graphic meant to resemble the Roman numeral II to represent duality.): ☀Read the second book in a series or a book featuring twins somehow
Lethal Lies - Rebecca Zanetti (blood brothers #2) 5/10

✔️Gemstone-Emerald & Agate: Emerald is the traditional birthstone for May and it is sacred to Venus, the Goddess of love, fertility and success. Wearing Emerald inspires hope in the weary heart and acts like a mental tonic. Agate is one of the earliest stones used as a talisman or amulet. It protects the bearer and gives them strength. If you have night terrors, place an Agate under your pillow. Babylonians used Agate to stave off storms. Light Workers tell us that Agate helps us process our feelings more effectively. Agate occurs in a wide range of colors, which include brown, white, red, gray, pink, black, and yellow. The colors are caused by impurities and occur as alternating bands within the agate. ☀Read a book with a brown, white, red, gray, pink, black, yellow or dark green cover, a book with a storm or a character has a nightmare, or a book where a character is strong or holds out hope for something.
All the Tides of Fate - Adalyn Grace 5/7

✔️Flower: Lily of the Valley & Hawthorn The birth flower for May is Lily of the Valley also known as the Mayflower. In the Language of Flowers it represents the return to happiness. It also denotes purity, joy, good fortune and modesty. Hawthorn has strong associations with the Beltane festival. In Celtic tradition it represents safety, balance and love. Fairies live beneath Hawthorn, whose spirit guards them dutifully. ☀Read a book with a Lily of the Valley or a Hawthorn blossom on the cover, a book with a white, pink, or red cover, a bookwhere a character is a virgin, or a book where a character is a bodyguard
The Watchers of Eden - T.C. Edge 5/20

✔️Color-Yellow & Green: Yellow is a very happy, warm color. It’s welcoming and cheerful. Green represents growth, newness and productivity, and is also associated with money and getting the “go ahead” (as in a green light). Green is soothing to the human soul and offers a sense of stability. ☀Read a book with a yellow or green cover (any shade)
Dangerous Prey - Lindsay McKenna 5/14

✔️Icons- Nightingale: One of the symbols for May is the Nightingale. Legend tells us that a Lily of the Valley loved a Nightingale. Night after night she listed to his song. Finally when the Nightingale became lonely and wearied of his singing alone, he asked the Lily of the Valley to raise her melodious voice every May so he could happily sing once more. Spiritually speaking, Nightingale speaks of liberation and immortality. ☀Read a book featuring a nightingale, a character that is a singer, or where a character is lonely
Outfoxed by Love - Eve Langlais (villain is lonely and misunderstood) 5/17

✔️Number: 5 In Numerology the sacred number Five is restless and doesn’t like settling down. This energetic figure is in perpetual motion, mixing up change. Working with Five vibrations means releasing constraints on your mind and spirit. If you have trouble taking risks, May is the month for that unusual leap of faith. Five is flexible, charming, forward thinking and very resourceful. When you are stuck in a rut, Five’s energy can dig you out. ☀Read a book with a change of some sort in it, where a character has to be flexible or charming, or where a character steps out of their comfort zone and takes a risk. Participants can also read a bookpublished in May of any year or published in any month of 2005 for this task.
