ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

It's been awhile since I've read a story about dragons, so I jumped on the chance to read this book. I admit that I haven't read the rest of the books in this series, so I was at times a bit lost, especially when it came to the love drama between the Dragon king and the Fae queen and his previous lover. But aside from that I liked the story. It's action packed but with enough sweet scenes that made the romantic in me satisfied. I loved how Dimitri grew to like Faith and also showed her things that the normal human side of her would never imagine existed. Faith is someone who strives for the truth. The journey to uncover secrets is an adventure, but this time it's going to be the adventure of her life. The power play of the dark fae and the dragons made for in interesting read, also the various POVs were a great addition to the plot. I really liked how the story turned out, so I would definitely recommend it. :)

Faith is an archaeologist on a dig on the isle Dimitri once ruled and she's discovered something that, in the wrong hands, can do a lot of damage. Dimitri and Faith were paired well. However, I found that I really can't pin down an identity for Faith outside of her profession. Also, for Dimitri, it feels like he's not quite sure of how he feels about key issues affecting the story line, independently of whether there are outside influences or not. It's that uncertainty that prevents me from giving the story five stars. It felt that the main characters were shorted when it came to their development.

Plot-wise, I continue to be awed at the skill that Ms. Grant has employed to keep the story lines in the series consistent, progressive, and interesting. I think it a fair assessment that although this can be read as standalone, it loses significant impact when not read in series. This is especially important when the books seem to be including more and more content to move the main plot along.

The ending to this installment left me with questions and doubts, which is a pretty good way to ensure I eagerly pick up the next. This series has a lot going on right now. It seems to be getting closer and closer to the main conflict resolution and the closer we get, the more confused I am about what I think I know. Not sure that makes sense to anyone outside of me, but I can't think of a better way to explain. Looking forward to the next.

Safety: No others. No rape. Yes to abuse.

'Firestorm' by Donna Grant is book ten in the "Dark Kings" series. This is the story of Dimitri and Faith. I have been jumping in and out of this series so for me this was a standalone book.
Faith is a Archaeologist who has found a Dragon skeleton. Dimitri has been sent to destroy the Dragon skeleton so that him and his people can keep their shifting Dragon history a secret. Dimitri and the other Dragon Shifters are pretty much immortal. So Dimitri feels that he had let his fellow Dragon down by leaving this one behind so many years ago. Faith's mother has had a love for Dragaon and now that she is gone but has found this skeleton remains feels it was meant to be. So she is very protective of the skelton. Dimitri find himself doing things he wasn't sent to do...like helping Faith protect the skeleton and not destroying it. In addition he usually is only attracted to Fae but can't seem to stop wanting this 'human'.
This book had the mystery and the sexiness that makes you now want to put this book down...which I did not! "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

Dragon shifter drama!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎
Character development: ☹️🙃☺️
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙
Narration Type: Solo Narration

The Hero: Dimitri - The white dragon shifter king who lives to protect the secret of the Dragon Kings from humans who couldn’t coexist with dragons and ended up claiming land that once belonged to the dragons. Over a thousand years ago his clan and others traveled through the dragon bridge to another realm. The kings then destroyed all the dead dragons, erasing them from the land and from the minds of men.

The heroine: Dr. Faith Reynold - She is an archeologist on a dig at a place called Fair Isle. Where she unearths the remains of a dragon. Her funding came from the British museum and nobody could believe what she had found. They kept sending other archeologists and zoologists to declare her a fraud, though so far nobody could do that.

The Story: Dimitri is in charge of going to Fair Isle where his clan used to reside since most of them left via the dragon bridge. He had to get rid of the dragon skeleton and make sure the secret was safe from humans. Faith’s mother and best friend had died six months ago and she was still mourning the loss, though she was exited about her work.

From the moment Faith meets Dimitri, she is attracted to him and hardly able to speak. He says that he is there to keep her safe. Dimitri had a lot of rage locked away. He knew the world was made for the dragons, but now the humans had control and he didn’t see that ever changing so he could call his clan home. Unlike some of the other kings who had found human mates, he remained alone.

This book is told via solo narration and was narrated by Antony Ferguson, who is good and does a whole slew of different accents from British, to Scottish, to American and more. He is a very good reader, but if you like the voices to match what you expect for the main characters, he is not that kind of narrator. I couldn’t decide if I liked him or hated him, and felt both at times, but didn’t hate it enough to stop listening.

This was the first book in this series that I have read, so I did feel like I was missing some background information, though I do love me some dragon shifters so thought I would give it a go. The first few chapters were heavy with setting up the story and got to be a bit boring for me. I kind of like the background to be more character driven and I got a bit lost in the details. Though once the background was done, the story got better.

Firestorm is an incredibly stunning and deliciously decadent romantic fantasy that will curl your toes while it captures your heart. This is a truly fantastic world that is meticulously crafted and wildly rich with wonderful characters and a sumptuously complex storyline. Nothing can deny the wonderfully addictive pull that this adventure will have your mind and your heart. I can’t deny myself a new adventure, but what a fabulous gift when I am presented with one that is completely out of the ordinary and passionately mind-blowing. This is one series that any fantasy and romance lover will undeniably want to discover and savor.

Dr. Faith Reynold has discovered something that his made her rethink everything she thought she knew. What her eyes see and her mind processes has her heart in a wonderful uproar as her soul pulls her closer and closer to it. There is something just out of reach that she absolutely needs to find. Never has anything sucked her in quicker or held her in a wonderfully delightful state of euphoria. Dimitri has one fixed goal in his life, and nothing will deter him from it. When that goal brings Faith into his path, he is thrown off balance, and he fight against it. She makes him feel things he has never felt before, and he isn’t sure if he wants to hate her or keep her by his side forever. One thing he does know is that her life is in danger as long as she stubbornly continues searching for things she has no idea how to comprehend. Will Faith open Dimitri’s heart to something that he can’t even imagine must less understand, or will his duty trump even his awakening heart?

I was literally swept away by this wondrous world full of remarkable creatures of myth and lore. They pulled me deeper into this story than I ever imagined, and I hated to see them go. I was entranced by the diversity and the beauty of each extraordinary character and how they enriched and drove this wonderful journey. While this is the first book in the series that I have read, and I had a lot of holes to fill in, I had little trouble in adapting to te back story and the many subplots going on. The sheer complexity of it all made my mind tingle with pleasure as my heart hummed with joy. What a truly epic adventure that I would absolutely love to read from beginning to end!

Donna Grant is a true genius in her masterful balancing act that never seems to falter. With so many characters and subplots, she made this breathtaking story come to life and flow so effortlessly. I was pleasantly surprise and held in awe of her amazing talent! I look forward to reading more spectacular stories from this master story teller.

3.5*

I read a review on this book and immediately went looking for it, my problem was I assumed it was a first in series whereas in actual fact it's book 10.

The earth used to belong to the dragons and all was well but humans like a plague spread through the land taking more and more until they wanted it all and so they drove the dragons away. The dragons having taken a vow to protect the humans were powerless and so in their billions they fled to another realm leaving only the kings behind. The Kings destroyed all trace of dragons and then slept for centuries while waited for humans to forget and they did, dragons became a myth and now the kings are back in human form.
Life isn't going smoothly for the dragons and on top of all their other problems it looks like Dr. Faith Reynolds has unearthed an ancient dragon skeleton.

There's a lot here to like, the story kept me reading and I liked both Faith and Dimitri along with the intriguing Tamir. I felt at times that I was missing out and playing catch-up because I'd not read the previous books and there's no denying this affected my enjoyment of the book but that's my fault for not checking before I started reading, so if you're thinking of giving this a try my advice would be to start from the beginning.
Also I don't generally read books which feature the Fae just because as a rule I don't like them and I would have skipped this had the Fae had been mentioned in the blurb but they weren't so I didn't and it didn't detract from my enjoyment.
I do wish I'd started at book 1 but I'm not going to go back now.

Donna Grant's Dark King series is like watching a great TV series come to life in my mind. The twists and turns grow with every episode. And no matter how long between each book, her writing style is so comfortable, that it is easy to pick right up from where she left us. In her tenth (10th) installment, we are introduced to Dimitri, Dragon King to the white dragons, nicknamed "Muscles" by Dr. Faith Reynolds. Faith is an archaeologist, who has uncovered ancient dragon bones. Since Dimitri made sure all of his dragons made it home or evidence of them was destroyed, her discovery brings him to her side.

Donna Grant never ceases to amaze me, how she blends a love story into a mystery, drawing on the characters, both past, present, and future. She has a way of blending her fantasy world into one that almost seems real.

Rhi is still here, along with her shadow, a Reaper (can't wait to see how that develops), as well as Balladyn, Con, and Ulrik. And the mystery surrounding her secret Dragon King. I would suggest reading all of these books in order, but Donna's writing makes it easy to read each book as a standalone, and give you just enough to make you want to read the rest of the books in series. 5 HOT READ STARS!!!

Three and a half
I remember starting this series with high expectations and I wasn't disappointed but then if honest I got a little bored as the stories seemed to almost follow a pattern at times. I stopped reading these and tried her newer series about Reapers and the crossover got me wondering just how far (if at all) the Dragon Kings have progressed. So here I am having read the story of Dimitri the King of the white dragons and how meeting Faith an archaeologist turns his world upside down. Dimitri has one job to do and that's destroy the bones that Faith has discovered but Faith has a reverence for her find that surprises him and when old enemies show up Dimitri doesn't hesitate to put everything on the line . Yet there's a mystery inside the cave, a long forgotten secret that is waiting to be told and its discovery is only the beginning!
I'm a little lost for words here as I did enjoy this book but it's ending leaves me thinking is that it? Yes I understood the almost insane attraction between the couple although as a romance it did feel rushed but this author knows how to build heat and boy do Dimitri and Faith burn! There's so much going on around though as numerous threads are picked up with old adversary Ulrik still up to no good yet even he has to watch his back now ! I'm sorry but I'm still screaming for the big reveal concerning Rhi, light fae ( for now!) ally to the Dragon Kings and yes Balladyn seems to almost have her where he wants her . Yet even more screwed up is the Light Queen and Cons relationship and trust me it's not a complicated world as each component is dealt with in simple terms but it's just such a tangled mess. The author has added layer upon layer and as this book ends as a reader I kind of want to pull my hair out!
I've checked and there will apparently be about twenty or more books in this series which obviously means the big players whose books we really want are going to be a long time coming. Con, Ulrik and Rhi are looking like being near the very end, sigh. I have suspicions but obviously I like others have to wait and that's why I'm not sure if I will continue this series again or just wait a while until nearer the end. Yet I must state I really did enjoy this particular book , it's just the bread crumb approach and constant muddying the waters that leaves this reader frustrated
This voluntary take is of a copy provided by the publisher and these are my honest thoughts

Faith has lived a lonely life and since her mom passed digging up history and fossils has become her life. For once she is excited about something that she discovered on Fair Isle ...a dragon remains, but not everyone is happy about it. On a faraway place called Dreagon where the Dragons kings live Con the King of the Dragon kings is worried because all dragons live or dead were to be removed from there so that the mortals would forget they existed. Con has decided that Dmitri will go as it was his home so it must be one of his dragons. What he doesn't expect when he gets there is to be struck by his attraction to Faith and hers to him. Faith doesn't really date because it would just lead to heartache but something about this man has her twisted up in knots. When Dmitri decides instead of just destroying the dragon he will let Faith dig around a bit until mortals start to die at the hands of the Dark, a group of Fae that love you till your heart dies. When one of them pushes Faith to her death Dmitri is forced to show his Dragon form just to save her and risks discovery. When Faith realizes what he is it doesn't change her opinion of him at all in fact the scientist in her wants to know more about the man and the dragon. When they decide to go back to Dreagon together and start to move the bones Dmitri gets a weird feeling that he can't seem to shake and when they get to his home even weirder things begin to happen. The book left me in a cliffhanger and I am not sure if more are coming or not but there is a lot more story to tell, and I am hoping Faith and Dmitri get a happily ever after.

Ok so I absolutely loved this book, I am hooked more then ever!!!! Ienjoyed the storylines, everything was smooth and just flowed well. But.... The main story was not the romance between muscles and the Dr. I felt it was more in the direction of major plot that has slowly been introduced and unfolded in each book in this series. A few questions were kinda answered but I have a ton more.... and for God's sake please tell me Con will get a mate, and who in the hell is Rhi's king...... ugghhhhhh the suspense is killing me.

First book read in 2017 and what a glorious read it was!

My god ladies and gents! So much happens in this book! It's eye opening, heart wrenching, swoon inducing goodness!

The chemistry between the two is explosive. The need they both share to find out what happened to a dragon thousands of years ago is strong. And it definitely pulls them together. Dimitri gains a respect for Faith that never would have happened with his hatred of humans. But of course certain people can change certain minds!

These two no-nonsense characters are perfect for each other and perfect for this book. So much happens that all I want to do is keep writing and explaining but it will have spoilers so I'll have to make y'all wait til release day to get the goods.

Book slump over, book depression begin!

I don’t know the words to tell you how great this book is. I wont go into detail about the plot as I hate spoilers.
The first couple chapters immerse you in the history of the kings and gives you the basis of the conflict. This is for those that haven't read every other book in this series.

Ms. Grant then jumps in with both feet as the story unfolds and takes you on a ride you gladly hold on for.
While immersed in Firestorm you find yourself waiting for what's on the next page. When you get to the part where you meet up with characters from past books, you feel like you have walked into the living room of a good friend after a long vacation. You haven't seen these people in months and everyone is waiting for you to arrive. They are ready to catch you up on what has been going on.
The scotch an laughter is flowing, relaxing and welcoming.
As you speed to the end of the book emotions run high and low. You are then in turn mad at some characters and glad others do what they do.

Don’t miss it, you will regret it if you do.

Dimitri and Faith are great together. Yet again their relationship and troubles are different from all the previous couples...which I love. Nice seeing all the peeps again. Ulrik, of course, needs to die. I'm sure he's the one who left that little surprise behind which caused so much trouble.

Rhi is starting to grow on me again. If it turns out that V is her Dragon King, I'm not going to be happy. He's a douche.

Dimitri has lived his life protecting the world for the knowledge about the Dragon kind. Now that is threatened by an oh, so, sexy, Dr. Faith Reynolds.

Faith is an archeologist that has uncovered, what she believes, is a honest to God dragon skeleton.

When the uber alpha guard, Dimitri, comes to oversee her dig, she is caught up in his sexy appeal but not even close to Dimitri’s obsession with Faith. He should be focused on removing all evidence of this fellow dragon that was left behind but all he can do is be drawn to Faith and her passion for his kind.

Grant knows how to write that smoldering hot ALPHA "king" dragon shifters and the women strong enough to love them. FIRESTORM provides the perfect amount of action intense and romantic scenes to create a strong balanced read. While the multiple point of views brought a new dimension to this series.

I received this ARC copy of Firestorm from St. Martin Press. This is my honest and voluntary review. This book is set for publication March 07, 2017.

FIRESTORM is book ten in the Dark Kings series by Donna Grant. Normally I would say it’s find to read these books as standalones but I feel like with ten books already out, it’s probably best to read them in order. Grant has been building this world for a very long time. Some series like this one are actually spin-offs from her other series but I don’t think you need to read those to enjoy this one.

I always enjoy Grant’s heroes in this series. While they are powerful and deadly, they don’t really come across as too otherworldly. Yes, they are dragon shifters and they do often talk like they are from another time, but there’s a relatable quality to them that makes them very easy to fall in love with. Take Dimitri for example. He takes loyalty very seriously and when something threatens that, his quiet personality becomes more intense. Dimitri is soft yet intense at the same time and I think he’s actually my favorite part of this book. He made me swoon on a lot of occasions as I was reading this book.

The heroine of the story is an arecheologist named Faith. Now I’m a bit of a sucker with archeologist characters. I just find them so fascinating so I was very much looking forward to getting to know Faith. While I enjoyed her career, I wasn’t so head over heels in love with Faith. She doesn’t do anything bad that makes me hate it, but I think it’s because Dimitri was so good of a character that she was overshadowed by him. I really would’ve liked to put myself in place of Faith for the duration of this book. That’s how much I enjoyed Dimitri.

So that being said, I did enjoy this book overall. I think Donna Grant’s specialty is within this genre so if you like dragons or highlanders and Paranormal Romance, then you need to check out Grant’s extensive backlist.

Dragons, betrayal and intrigue fill the world of the Dark Kings. Book ten in this series features the very sexy Dimitri. For those who are just joining this series, this book can be read without reading the previous books in the series. It is easy to catch up to speed on the state of the world. A reader quickly learns how the Dragon shifters keep on fighting their invisible to man war. Ms. Grant does a nice job with short recaps and flashbacks to the past.

Dimitri has been alone for so long he has forgotten what it is like to have someone to share his life with, more than just his brothers in arm. He is used to being sent on missions to keep humans from rediscovering dragons. Unfortunately, it is becoming more and more difficult with technology and the restlessly Fae. When Dimitri finds out an archaeologist discovers evidence of dragon bones in his ancestral home, he is angry yet intrigued. How is it possible to have bones left there? And which dragon was left behind? There should have been none. This is the intrigue of the story which captures my attention and then leaves me hanging. I am left with unanswered questions and hope they materialize in the next book. The focus on this book is more about Dragon versus Fae power struggles and Dimitri's interest in Faith, the archaeologist.

Character wise, Dimitri is the standard alpha male who is loyal, trustworthy, a bit of a loner and exudes a sexual mysterious air about him. When Faith responds to his sexy pheromones and tries to deny it, it piques Dimitri's interest. There isn't exactly an insta-lust between the two, but there is good erotic chemistry. These two are similar in some ways and very different in others. This makes their interactions amusing when they have opposing views. I like how Faith is not a pushover. She is determined to do what she believes is right. She is unprepared for the supernatural world yet glides into it like a pro. Both characters are easy to like and admirable.

Erotically speaking, this story is a bit tame for me. This is because I do read kinky erotica. Still, the sex scenes are hot and just the right amount to keep it from becoming gratuitous. The way the story is told is spellbinding as I felt completely pulled into the story. Ms. Grant weaves a spell around her readers, captivating them until she's done spinning her tale. This magical world of dragon shifters and other supernatural predators that go bump in the night is a smooth read. It is hard to put the book down. This paranormal erotica is recommended to readers who love dragons, shifters and alpha men.

Almost perfect..

This was another good read from the Dragon Kind series. This one is about Dmitri and Faith who meet at an archeological dig on the island that Dimitri ruled as the dragon king, eons ago. Faith has uncovered a dragon skeleton and Dmitri goes there to figure out how he could have left one of his dragons there alone when he sent all his whites across the dragon bridge.

Of course, the dark fae turn up and Dimitri and Faith have to kill them, but not before they kill two of Faith’s dig members. Feeling things were getting worse they decided to take the skeleton back to Dreagan, and things only got worse. This was the most exciting Dragon King book so far, IMO.

I do like that Ms. Grant moves from one person to another: From Rhi to Ulrik, to Mikkel, to Balladyn and Taraeth. It makes the book so much better and a lot more interesting spending time with the other players and not always at Dreagan with Dmitri and Faith. Oh, and I really liked the 2 or 3 conversations between Rhi and Con about Usaeil, considering how much they dislike each other. Are they suddenly allies?

The ONLY thing I absolutely HATED about this book? The hero was DIMITRI and Faith called him MUSCLES 85 times. Totally ridiculous! God, I just hate stupid pet names. It lost a star because I cringed every time she said that name.

There is explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb was used 12 times.

As to the narrator: I’m absolutely done with Anthony Ferguson. I gave him another chance with Smoke and Fire, which was released 4/5/16 and then again with this book, released 3/7/17 and still he sucks, no matter what his fans say. His women’s voices sound terrible and he doesn’t read with any feeling whatsoever when a female is talking. I had to give up on the sex scene it was so bad.

Dr. Faith Reynolds has found an skeleton that looks remarkably like a dragon. When Dimitri is sent to keep the secrets of the Dragon race hidden, he has to deal with Faith who is human and he generally stays away from. He didn't expect to find himself protective of her. With an old enemy trying to create havoc.

There is a heat that builds up between Faith and Dimitri, like a pull you feel from the moment the couple is introduced to one another. I have not read the full series so at times did feel a bit lost but overall this was entertaining and made me want to go back to the beginning. Had a very visual description throughout the book. Great read.

DNF at 54%. Not a standalone. I liked the MCs for this novel, but my enjoyment was hampered by the extraneous characters and events tied to other books/series for which I had no background.

Per my policy, unfinished means no rating or true review.

I was thinking I was really going to enjoy this book ....... I was wrong sadly.

It was not necessarily bad but it was like a slice of life with a decent beginning and a decent story but it went almost nowhere. At the end of the book you had a jerky romance story , pieces from obviously previous books that did little but leave you confused and an overall depressing vision of the future ...... and then it ended, no resolution of pretty much anything.

This was not a cliffhanger, it was just a story that stopped and left you with a feeling of being duped into buying a book that left you wishing you had read something else.

Maybe if the author ever finishes this series I might pick it up to see the resolution but from what I see here she is going to drag readers along through several more books and I don't care for the waste of my time nor for the seemingly unending drama. This book was more like a good story that you just turned the page to keep reading and that next page just said THE END.

Bottom line: This is a series that one day you might want to do a marathon reading once it is finished but getting into this world/story at present will just be a frustrating experience in this reviewer's opinion. 3 Stars more for what it could be than what it actually was sadly.

This is the tenth book in the Dark Kings series and I haven’t read any of the previous books but still enjoyed this one! It tells the story of Dimitri, the White Dragon-shifter King, and Faith, and archaeologist who has discovered a Dragon skeleton on Dimitiri’s previous home island. There was a tremendous battle centuries ago between humans and the dragons left this realm, leaving behind their Kings to who were there to protect them.

Desperate to prevent annihilation, most dragons were sent by their kings to an alternative, safe realm Dimitri has been sent by the King of all the Dragons to destroy the skeleton so no evidence of their existence is in the human realm. He didn’t anticipate he’d end up protecting the skeleton rather than destroying it because he is so attracted to Faith. Dimitri finds himself torn between his duty to the King and his feelings for Faith . . . .

This is a great mix of mystery, mythology, power plays, romance and so much more. It was great to read another story with dragon-shifters as key characters with the Dark Fae also playing important roles. The use of different points of view through the story makes it easier to relate to the experiences and attitudes of the different characters and the ending is brilliant!

Many thanks to the publishers for gifting me a copy of this novel, via NetGalley, with no obligation. This is my honest review.

I read my first book by Donna Grant this year and I am hooked on her writing. The most exciting common thread is the world building in the series I have read. Each book stands on its own but the bigger story-line reels you in and keeps you coming back for more. Firestorm is my first book in the Dark Kings series but I loved it and I'm stoked about reading the rest of the series.

Dr. Faith Reynold seems to have stumbled upon the biggest find of her archaeology career in the form of a dragon skeleton, but there are many forces at work trying to thwart her discovery, for various reasons. Dragon King Dimitri has one specific role: destroy the skeleton and keep the existence of dragons secret. But he did not expect Faith and their immediate connection has him hesitating at following through on his original goal, and when an attack forces him to reveal himself to save Faith, well, that goal is dead in the water (no pun intended).

Being that this is the tenth book, it's a little hard to form a clear picture of the kings without the help of the previous books, but one thing is clear about Dmitri: he is completely loyal to his dragons, his king and their oath to protect humans. He's a really good guy and I liked that he and the other kings were easy to relate to and did not overly rely on their paranormal abilities.

Faith is quite hard to get a read on. Beyond her dedication to her career, the only thing I can say about her is that she is very independent and is an okay character.

I wish I had a chance to read the previous books before I read this one because I loved this book but it felt like being dropped in the middle of a tornado without warning. What does fate have in store for the kings, their mates and their enemies? Who will come out on top in the end? Will evil triumph over good?

Ms. Grant definitely knows how to craft a complex story-line to enthrall readers. I have more questions than answers and I just want to catch up on the series as quickly as possible. BTW, can we get Con's story already because I'm not sure I can survive the suspense.

FIRESTORM is amazing and I can only recommend grabbing the entire series as quickly as you can.

Received a copy for review from the publisher.

Wow! I don't read many dragon novels, but this made me fall in love! I truly enjoyed this story from start to finish. I didn't care for the tidbits about the others such as Rhi (she seems fishy), Con (the King of Dragon Kings) or Ulrik (the ex-Dragon King of the Silvers), but they were helpful in a sense. I do wish there was more between Dimitri and Faith as I truly enjoyed their romance.

Dimitri is a sweet, quiet Dragon King of the Whites. I loved how strong he looked and his allure. It all screamed "throw me down and sex me" literally. He was kind, amazing, sexy, could protect and he had such a big heart. He did seem closed off, but considering the history between his kind and humans it made sense. I loved watching him fall for a human when he least expected it.

Faith was definitely a spitfire. I loved her from start to finish. She never threw herself at a man. She was always focused on work and finding the truth in things. She was very intriguing. I loved how she immediately felt her attraction towards Dimitri, but tried to keep things as professional as she could. She wasn't your typical woman which I enjoyed. She stood up for herself against the Dark Fae and she wasn't afraid of the Dragons either. She was impeccable.

The romance was amazing. It was steamy and sexy without being overdone. I loved how sweet and sexy there relationship was. Their relationship progressed perfectly with the tempo of the story. You could tell that they were drawn to one another and that they were fated to be mates. I loved it!

I enjoyed the dragon aspect as I don't read many dragon novels, but love dragons. Definitely makes me want to read all the other books in this series.

This was my first book by Donna Grant, and I can honestly say I enjoyed the read.

In the world of dragons, fae, and man, the dragons are the most powerful but also the most honorable. They promised to protect people, and have kept that promise even though humans hunted and killed dragons, driving them from the lands where they ruled for eons.

This story is the 10th book in the Dark Kings series which is why I found it difficult to follow the people, the over-arching plot, and the world building. I felt lost through most of the book, especially during the scenes when a secondary character stole the POV. I didn't care about those parts, I wanted to know what Dmitri and Faith were doing, thinking feeling.

I enjoyed the off-the-charts sexual tension (though it seemed a little unrealistic--insta-lust on a draconic scale (see what I did there?)). I didn't know how to feel about Faith...she seemed a little hare-brained at times, which made her annoying.

With all the separate plots and secondary character POVs, this story lost me and didn't find me again until it was almost over. While the book itself was interesting enough to keep me reading, the world in which the story was set was so confusing and crowded with species, magic, and plot devices that I lost interest in it.

I do not plan to read any of the other books in the series. One was enough.

Loved this book! Dimitri never stood out to me... I honestly don't even remember him at all before this book. It's been a long while since I've read about the Dragon Kings but still. I kind of love him. He hated humans and never wanted to mate but as soon as he met Faith he changed his mind. Yes it's cliche but what I loved about this book was that he didn't fight it the whole damn book. A lot of these books have the couple fighting each other until the end and that's annoying. Faith and Dimitri get together pretty much right away and I am totally okay with that. Actually I prefer that. I liked seeing them work together and I like that they didn't hide their feelings and just accepted that they were into each other. Why fight it? It's a time of war. Take what happiness you can.

Now the storyline.. you know besides the romance.. I am not sure how to talk about it with out giving it away. So I'll just say that things take an interesting twist. And things are getting interesting with Con.

As always Donna Grant's writing is fabulous. This story has been going on forever and it's still just as interesting as it was with the first Highlander book. I love that the warriors and druids get mentioned. I just love Donna Grant and this whole world.

Button up your hatches! This is an active book. I love this series. I love Dragons! It has been a while since we had a new story so it will take a bit to get acquainted again. Con, King of Dragons, is trying to keep everything cool. Faith found a dragon skeleton and here goes your read. Dimitri came back to his home to take his Dragon home. There is danger when he shifts. The Dark Fae and the Light Fae are on the move. Then the Dealers are watching. Everyone wants everything for themselves. Soon the pot is going to come to a giant boil. I like this read. It flows around and keeps you on your toes. Donna gives us a good story line. Her characters give you some real action. Don't let this story get away from you. Check this book out and enjoy your reading! I volunteered to read and review this book.

4 1/2 stars!

I continue to be obsessed with this series. I love this world. Dragon Kings who are really protecting human and human who would do them harm. Yeah, right. Good luck with that. These kings are so strong and they love so deeply that I am completely taken by them all.

For this book, it was Dimitri that had my heart. He returns to the isle of his birth to protect the secret of the Kings. But he finds an archaeologist that seems to have a reverence for the bones she has discovered. Her tender care of them and her absent-minded manner has him paying her more attention than other humans. What is it about her that has him so wound up? And when a large secret erupts in the night, Dimitri has to decide what to tell her. I so love how deeply these Kings feel and Dimitri is no exception. They may have a King of Kings but they are each a King in their own right. They make their own decisions. And I'm always cheering for them. I was so happy with Dimitri's choices. I wanted to cheer him on.

As for Faith, I loved her. She was deeply effected by the bones she unearthed. There was a connection for her. She is meant to find them. Meant to find Dimitri. And here is my wondering. I keep wondering if this is playing into the hands of their enemies or it's the strength they will need to defeat them. Because there is a bigger story here. Each book unfolds a couple but muddies the water further on those that would expose and destroy the Kings. I haven't decided on which the mates end up being but I am hoping they are the strength that will be the deciding factor to the Kings success.

I've slowed down on reading these books. Not because I don't want to devour them, I so do. It's just that I'm nearing the end of the books that are available. New ones are scheduled for NEXT year. Oh yes, I know that's sooner at this time of year but it's just not soon enough. I need them ALL. I want to stack them up next to me and go from one to the next until I know all their secrets and then I want to start again.

If you haven't got stuck in this series, you need to get on that as soon as possible. Any shifter lover will love this book and this series.
