38. A book related to a word given by a random word generator

witch, stable, player, stem, mask
I did 10 words because I am indecisive and don't trust random generators lol.
I got: know, number, mail, diet, chair, computing, move, no, dozen, complain
Will probably go with a number in the title, because that's the easiest... Tentatively slot in The Four Winds here, but it does fit a bunch of prompts so I may put something else here.

Tension and solve lead to mysteries, so I will probably do a Flavia de Luce. But I may go the band route and read something with music, possibly a memoir.

So I think I am going to use the mod list for this one, and use "hand" and read The Left Hand of Darkness which I have never read and been meaning to.

I like excavation most, and could use Underland: A Deep Time Journey for it, I think. I also like orchestra and anniversary, and I'd be chuffed if something I read happens to involve one of those without planning!

tradition
wording
bow
administration
runner
I can think of options for all of those, but I really like "tradition." I might go with something that really leans into traditional genre tropes, like a classic fantasy novel.

second, sea, redundancy, heir, circle, favour, treasurer
I've chosen 'second' and will use it for a second book in a series. I have put several books that are first in a series for other prompts, so will have plenty of options later in the year.

Decisions decisions. How'd y'all choose?

I rolled for fun and got a few words I liked so I'm going to stick with it, but if I hadn't done that, I would probably roll on January 1st and go with whatever it tells me... I wouldn't leave it up to one word though, because I would definitely feel the need to cheat until I got something I wanted. I went with 10 words so I knew I'd have at least one in the first roll that would work.

I am going with horror.
The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum is my pick

Oh, what could be more important? It's not like we're in a global pandemic or in a struggle against a horrible orange monster. (That sentence is really mindblowing.)

That sounds like a really good plan, Emily. One word just isn't enough.

I am going with horror.
The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum is my pick"
I sense a theme here, Rebecca.

I'm going with attract, probably, and using a romance or love story.
Arabella- Georgette Heyer
The Shivering Sands - Victoria Holt
Romancing the Duke (Castle Ever After #1) - Tessa Dare
North and South - Elizabeth Gaskell
Giant's Bread - Mary Westmacott
500 Miles from You (Scottish Bookshop #3) - Jenny Colgan

I have Mad River Road, The House of the Spirits and And the Mountains Echoedon my bookshelf. So I guess I'll read one of these since roads, houses and mountains are pretty solid.

Last time, I got: friend, fan, argument, absence and retailer. I really want to read both When You Were Everything and We Used To Be Friends, which both deal with friendship breakups so those would both work for friend, argument and potentially even absence. I wasn't planning on committing to a choice so soon, but it seemed too perfect to pass up.

Huh.
Maybe I'll go with Convenience Store Woman, but I'm open to other suggestions in case that doesn't work out. 😂

championship, moment, throat, protection, dinner, perspective, tea, nation, assumption, people and what stuck out to me was tea lol.
As I wanted to read The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul next year this was perfect.

While I was stumped I decided to roll a few more: carpet, passion, preparation and thanks. (passion feels almost too easy, so the plan is to stick with phone unless I'm really not feeling it)

As for some weeks I have many options and others I only have one, it's likely I'll come back to this word generator and see what it gives me later in the year, just for larks.

wonder, wreck, finished, multimedia, charm, by, deteriorate, lonely, electronics, complete
I haven't quite decided yet, but here are my thoughts (all books from my existing TBR):
"wreck": The Only Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11 audiobook
"multimedia": Daisy Jones & The Six audiobook
"charm": Picture Perfect Lie
"by": Dying by the Hour
"lonely": Pushing the Limits
I guess I'll just keep these in mind and see what I feel like when the time comes to fulfill that prompt.

1. my word was ground
2. The City of Ember by Jeanne Dupree
3. set undergroun

My very first word was "strikebreaker." It seemed really far-out there (and the term has negative connotations), so I kept hitting the button. But I think I'll stick with it because it's interesting and different. I'll read something related to labor relations or unions. (The first class I ever taught was labor relations, but that was a very long time ago.)
My goal this year is to read more international books, and this book looks perfect so far, as it's international, historical, and the women are engaged in a labor dispute:
Women of the Silk
My second choice is word #2 "Immune," and I would pick something related to the immune system or pandemics.

Now I don't think I will have any problems finding books for either a trial or an issue. So my aim would be to go for stick and if I don't find anything then I'll choose either of the last 2.

Negligence Colony Cooperation Day Birthday
Then I found this on borrowbox Birthday
I love the cover

I drew 10 words, and they gave me a lot of options. But I just read The Only Woman in the Room by Marie Benedict, and two of my words were "stage" and "freedom", both of which apply beautifully to the book. So I slotted it in here!

Random Word Generator
How you use this generator is up to you. You can choose to limit yourself to one word option, or expand it to 10. You can search only verbs or nouns. Maybe you're picking your words now (in 2020), or maybe you are waiting until January or whenever you get this prompt to generate your words. It's totally up to you!
If you want a bit more of a challenge (and/or more camaraderie) for this prompt, check out this listopia for the five words that the mods got when they used the word generator, and join in the discussion at this thread.
