Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments How are you all doing?

My mom turned 60 today and I've been at my parents' since yesterday 5.30pm. It's 10.30 pm now and I'm back home after a wonderful family dinner, determined to read at least one chapter of my first toppler book. I'm glad the chapters are short because I'm very tired.

message 305: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I read for a bit but then went out to play in the snow with my daughter and make some things to eat around here. I plan on getting back as soon as possible. I'm enjoying my read so far.

Glad you had a nice visit, Peggy!

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I am just over 60% of the way through my first book and have about 100 pages left to go so I should get it finished sometime tomorrow.

I am pretty tired now so had better go get some sleep. Happy reading Divas!

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Great work Divas! 2 books finished already, y'all rock!!!
I have started the audio book version of The Enchanted Castle and e-book version of Under The Skin. I'm on the app and can't quite remember which categories each book fit in right now, I think fantasy and horror respectively, but not 100% sure.
since the hubs and I both had eye Dr appt this morning and my nephew's 2nd birthday party, I haven't had quite as much time to read as I'd hoped. I'm about 2 hours into listening to The Enchanted Castle and only on chapter 1 of Under The Skin.
I'll check back in tomorrow as I have time.
Happy reading, everyone!!!!

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Sleep well those of you who are crashing. Let us know KimeyDiann when you get back on. Thanks for checking in though!

It's 11am here so I'll be going for a while.

We're having a nice big political upset at the moment. Our Prime Minister looks like he could be overthrown tomorrow (and is being a right goose about the whole thing, although no one is really surprised about that). Everytime I look away from Twitter I miss something. Making it hard to read!

message 317: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments I have an hour left in my book, and I want to know the ending RIGHT NOW! I may have to start searching reviews for spoilers. But first, I must think about having some supper.

message 322: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Yay!

I'm about to go get ready for hockey which is really annoying. I have 55pp to go on my island read. I'm on a roll! I picked it up at 11.30am, and it's 4pm now.

I really recommend the series, especially if you like crime and beaches. There is some m/m sex, I know some people want to be aware of that before they read things. But they are easy reads and not badly written.

message 323: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments ... Looking at him on twitter, he seems to have another series about a Golden Retriever solving crime for you guys who like dog books.

message 324: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Finished my read as well. Now to work out what to read next...

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Okay handing the baton back over to you lot on the other side of the world.

Midnight here, but decided to read Witch Week tomorrow to get my Diana Wynne Jones novel out of the way.

Read well, have a lovely sunday, and see you tomorrow!

message 328: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Night Rusalka! Sleep well!

message 329: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Good morning! After finishing Wayward last night, I thought I should tackle the last book in the series, The Last Town. I could count it as either Science Fiction or apocalyptic.

Casceil, are you reading one for "occupation you wouldn't want your date to have"? I don't see that one as assigned to either one of us, though we are both slated in that spot. I could put The Last Town in that spot too, since I wouldn't want my date being a sheriff in a post-apocalyptic world.

I'm wondering now about the bonus points. Since j'mom singled some of us out and matched us up as couples, that maybe I should read the one she matched me with - non fiction. I could read As You Wish: Inconceivable Tales from the Making of The Princess Bride - maybe. I thought I had done my gophering. Sheesh. Here I am gophering again.

message 330: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I finished my first book, Toby's Room which I rated 4 stars. It was very thought provoking and quite harrowing at times but I enjoyed it and felt that I learnt some new things about World War One from it.

I am going to have a little break for dinner and such and then I will make a start on Jackaby for the 'job you would like your date to have' task.

message 331: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Woohoo, Lisa!

message 332: by Lara (new)

Lara | 1426 comments I stayed up all night reading Neanderthal Seeks Human: A Smart Romance, which is a super smart romance with a geek heroine and crafts, too. I won't be able to read again until later this evening, though.

message 333: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments Janice, gophering never ends. I plan to read Shadow Unit 12, which qualifies for occupation you wouldn't want your date to have, but I have a couple of other books ahead of it. I still need to read a "hobby-craft" book. For that I think I will use The Cat, the Mill and the Murder, in which the protagonist's hobby is quilting. She makes cat-size quilts for cats. Currently, though, I am 100 pages into Mischief in Mudbug, which could fit into any of several categories. There is a shoe on the cover, there is a ghost, and it is a "humorous" book, and of course there is a romance.

message 334: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments I guess it doesn`t really matter because the rules to this toppler are flexible. We can both read that category and have it counted.

message 335: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Great job everyone!

I just finished my first book, Two Old Fools - Olé: Another Slice of Andalucian Life, for 'collecting comic books'. It was a quick fun read, like all the books in the series.

message 336: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Yay Peggy!

message 337: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments I finished my second book - The Last Town for Occupation I wouldn't want my date to have (sheriff in a dystopian world).

Next up - The Martian for Science Fiction.

message 338: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments 11 books completed so far!

Well done photo: Well done everyone ! mai658E132122217.gif

I didn't get through as much of Jackaby as I hoped to this evening. I am finding it a bit 'meh' so far but will stick with it and hopefully I will start enjoying it a bit more.

That's it for me for today. Night all!

message 339: by Tasha (new)

Tasha I just finished my first, The Witch Doctor's Wife, for Africa.

I'll be starting my second one tonight after we get back from dinner.

I'll be gophering for an audio as well.

message 340: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Plugged everything in. Some of the ones in multiple categories I have put in places, but can always move. I'm thinking spreading them so we complete every task may be the plan if we can? Though don't stress about that and read what you wish.

What we think?

I really need to do some work but will check in in the afternoon when I need a cuppa and a break. Happy reading!!

message 341: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments That makes sense to me, Rusalka. Since some of the books can fit various categories, I think we can move them around as needed once we have the known bonus points covered.

message 342: by Marie (UK) (new)

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 2277 comments I have just finished Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood -i have posted in reporting thread but wanted to recommend this book as a riveting read. it has humour, and sadness - i have laughed and cried but could not put it down. It is now 0030 will start something new tomorrow

message 343: by Marie (UK) (new)

Marie (UK) (mazza1) | 2277 comments I could cover non-fiction with In Movement There Is Peace

I will check bak in morning to see if that is ok

message 344: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Sure Marie, if it's something you would like to read!

message 345: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments I have finished my second book, Mischief in Mudbug, which could fit into any of several categories. There is a shoe on the cover, there is a ghost, it is a "humorous" book, and of course there is a romance between the main character and the handsome detective she hired to help her find her family. "Humorous" might be the best fit if we don't already have someone else reading that. Mischief in Mudbug (Ghost-in-Law, #2) by Jana Deleon

message 346: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Awesome! I pencilled it in to humourous before so I'll colour it in blue now. Yay!
