Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'll get my book read by tonight. (Another 12 hours or so) A few rescheduled meets and I was able to get it done before the races :)

Today is one of our local race days and I am checking the entrance tickets and making sure we meet our COVID requirements on entry. It never rains but pours! Hopefully life will quieten down after today :)

Review:
Yes - so we can guess this book will be as much fantasy as reality but I really enjoyed it. It was sweet with some hints of sour and grit. Just the way I handle these sorts of stories. Not sure I would have bought this if others hadn't said it was super-gentle in the crime department :)

Excellent narration by Joel Leslie and Phillip Alsace.

Its been a while since Ive been in the land of the Marions.
Mav is headed back to South Carolina after inheriting his grandmothers estate. There he hooks up with childhood best friend, Beau.
It doesnt take long for the 2 of them to hook up.
A good 5th instalment in this series. I am glad Mav saw sense in the end and move to SC.
There are 2 kindle editions with the same date but different pages counts. Not sure which is the first one.

Review: I'm not sure why I only rated and didn't review this the first time around because it was really good! I LOVE Arthurian legend retellings, in any form, and VS did a great job with this one. Greg also nailed the narration. (But then again, when does he not?)

I loved that Mel wasn't a typical protagonist, that he was a sex-worker and while it wasn't his first choice of jobs (and how he came by it was heart-breaking) he made no excuses for it. VS could have chosen anyone, with any profession, and picked that. Much appreciation.

The info dump near the beginning was a bit frustrating and confusing - even for someone who's read this previously - and I kept rewinding to catch the origins, connections & history. But at least it's done conversationally.

The audiobook was so well done, I'm torn between waiting to see if Book 2 gets an audio vs. starting Book 2 ASAP because Tom & Lucan!

This one had me hooked from the get go. Noah was abused and held for years and all I wanted for him was freedom. He kind of got it in the form of witness protection with Mac. Their relationship was special from the start though not in a romantic way. When they meet up years later, whoa mama. Great story, great cast of characters, lots of action and general badassery. Very, very enjoyable.

I always love reading this book and its been a while (more than 5 years) since I have read it. Whilst the individuals stories are why many readers have not enjoyed this book, I love the way they are all threaded together for the overall plot arc. The MCs are smart and thoughtful - a great complementary couple who learn and grow together.

Narrated : Paul Morey - some minor sound fluctuations, but excellent narration.

Review: Screw it, I'm rounding up. There's just something about listening to a story you loved come to life even more through audio. Wyatt Baker continues to surprise me with his narration; it's the 3rd performance by him I've listened to so you'd think I'd be used to it by now.

Loved re-living this slice-of-life installment. The relationship development is just exquisite, and the sex continues to be smoking hot. It's not all sunshine and roses though; they're still new, and trying to figure out how their lives meld. But oh my heart...Levi's unconditional support for Dom - even this early on in the romance - hits me every time. (And I know what's coming so it's even more important to have that connection now.)

The mystery was less engaging this time around. Sort of felt like a "monster of the week" episode of a favorite TV show, while the little clues (and that ending) help tie it into the major (SoS) arc. But these are the eps/installments I live for.

Definitely need to get back to this series...I left off before Book 4 and I have no excuse for why.

This was not my usual Nora Phoenix book. Not heavy on the sexy times but heavy on the intrigue. Me likey. I mean I love her sexy books as well but this was really good. I couldn't put the book down. And it made me cry! Yes, the romance was the main part of the story but there was so much going on all around them that I was turning pages as fast as I could. The situation hasn't been resolved regarding the intrigue but that just makes me want the second book even more. Tricky!

Review:
Whilst I did enjoy this, MC Cal has the emotional intelligence of an ant! He didn't think through any of his actions from MC Beck's perspective. He only considered from his own self-interest and that was frustrating.

MC Beck was sweet and balanced. A great foil for Cal in the end.

I really enjoy these books. Both the original featuring Ten and Ronan and this spin off with Jude and Cope. Although there is always a lot of the friends in the books too.
This one featured Crisco and Luca and another Vamp as well.
