Oh you're right sorry! It's Friday, my head is all over the place.
I've just finished Thread on Arrival, so I'll enter that up and it should be the other half of Aimee's guess.

Can we guess E, or will we have to guess S?
For the record, I probably won't be able to read much tomorrow, as I'm out for most of it.

Posting it now.
Good night!

We're back to no vowels, R, S or T
So I'll take the initiative to post N and hope it will be as useful as last time :)

I did the same thing! M or L might be good picks as fairly common if it's not that title.
Sorry I haven't added to the cause today - but I'm glad we've got Puzzle 7 out of the way.
I've never head of the milk carton one, either, but if you want to do M and L, I have no problems with that. Maybe followed by K?

Have y'all really not heard of that book?! It was a staple in my childhood library... classic mystery! I'm shocked y'all haven't heard of it!
Remember, this is the European Finch family! :-)

Exactly. I know that when I was growing up (60s/70s - yes, I'm that old!) about the only US kids mysteries I saw were Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys and not many of them. That space was filled by Enid Blyton over here. Its only now, in the days of Amazon and Ereaders that more US kids books are becoming available.
Plus, faces on milk cartons is a US thing. We don't do it in the UK, at least, and I'm not sure they do in Europe, either.
I am, of course, going to have to read it now!

We don't have faces on milk cartons either :)

When I lived in Zimbabwe for a couple of years, it came in plastic bags and glass bottles.

Yes! I always thought they were putting some strange juice on their cereal. I'm from the UK (half Scottish, half English) but grew up in France, and in both countries we either had milk in plastic bottles or glass ones.

To be fair, I was born in the 80s and have never seen a milk carton with a missing child on it lol. But I'm glad I gave that puzzle to this group since the American groups probably would have gotten it more quickly.

How did you like it? I love Discworld but not a fan of Rincewind. I always suggest people start with a later book.
Having also reread it this readathon, I enjoyed it more this time around - I think I understood more of the references.
Not that I think we're going to get there, but I'm guessing Anna Karenina for puzzle 9. Easily proven or not if we get a guess and use N

Ooh that's a good guess. We might not make it in time but at least if it turns out to be correct you'll have the satisfaction of being right!

Same Ellie - I think Guards! Guards! is a better test of whether someone will get on with Discworld or not. If they don't like it, they won't like the others.
The Watch sub-series is by far my favourite, with the Moist von Lipwig and Witches books vying for second place.

I finished Colour of Magic and put today's pages, which gives us two letter guesses. Should we guess N and K, and quickly determine if Trish is right?
I enjoyed the Colour of Magic, a lot of fun and cool concepts, but it did seemed a bit fragmented, as if the concepts were thrown in haphazardly, which is also part of the fun, but it sort of took over the ability to immerse in the story. I was 'warned' beforehand that it might not be the best of the books, but I took over the first five books from my dad and stepmum's private library when they moved to a smaller house. So it felt right to start with those.
All in all i really liked it and I'm looking forward to reading on and watch all the stories unfold :)
