Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments You want to choose the next one Aimee?

Ellie wrote: "I think it's The Poisonwood Bible"

That sounds plausible - shall we do something like B or W for our next guess?

message 153: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Alright I'll choose B.

message 154: by Fee (new)

Fee | 233 comments I added my pages read and finished a book for another guess. Shall we go with W now or can we already guess. I haven't been online all day and now I'm confused ;)

message 155: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments We have to make our fourth guess (which is now available) and then we can make a title guess. I'll post W

message 156: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments The W is where we thought it would, so I'll make our title guess.

PUZZLE 5: RHYME TIME
The puzzle is a phrase with rhyming words in it or a list of thematically similar things whose names rhyme. In this case, the book title will have a rhyme or alliteration within the title.

message 158: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Yeah!

message 159: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments We don't have any guesses available, but anyone want to pick the starting letter(s) of this puzzle?

message 160: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments It could be "and the" in the middle so I'd give one of those letters a guess first

message 161: by Dori (new)

Dori (daisydori) | 169 comments Guys, you are doing so great! Sorry I haven't contributed much to the guesses or the reading, work has been a lot busier than anticipated :(

message 162: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) Go Team Finch!

I think this one could be "The (x) and the (y)" with x and y rhyming. No titles spring to mind straight away though. Maybe a T as the first guess to see if the two 'thes' are there?

message 163: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments No worries Dori :)

message 164: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Yes let's go with T

message 165: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I just finished another prerelease review-book, and updated my pages, so we now have two guesses. I'll go with T and N.
Goodnight everyone!

message 166: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments I actually have a guess! I think it might be The Prince and the Pauper. What do you guys think?

message 167: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Good morning
Good guess Sarah! I think we should choose P as our next letter :)

message 168: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments ...when we have that guess available, that is.

message 169: by Trish, Annular Mod (last edited Sep 15, 2020 11:12PM) (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) | 1237 comments Mod
Morning all. Sorry I didn't generate a guess yesterday, but you're doing great!

I agree Sarah is onto something, so I'll second P for our next letter.

Aimee (pebbles320) Sarah wrote: "I actually have a guess! I think it might be The Prince and the Pauper. What do you guys think?"

Good thinking!

I've just finished Murder on Mulberry Bend, for another 196pg and a completion guess. I've gone ahead and asked for P and R.

Then if they fit Sarah's suggestion, I'll go ahead and submit it.

message 172: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments P for perfect!
I've finished another light romance at 150 pages, so we have another letter guess ready.

message 173: by Trish, Annular Mod (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) | 1237 comments Mod
That might end up being the first for the new title, if we're right.

message 174: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) Looks like Sarah's guess is correct!

message 175: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Yup, I'll submit it.

message 176: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments I can't get it to add up that we have another guess, so I asked Emily to check for us.

message 177: by Trish, Annular Mod (new)

Trish (trishhartuk) | 1237 comments Mod
You were right - we have 21 and we've guessed 21. The formula for "total guesses" was wrong

PUZZLE 6: WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
The book title will (sort of) answer this question.

So I've managed to read and finish The Age of Doubt for 320pg. We've now ticked over 5,000 pages.

I reckon we're now on:

Pages - 5,000+ = 5 guesses
Audio - currently 4.5 guesses
Books finished - 15 guesses
For a total of 24

We've had 21 now, so I think we have 3 spare.

Going back to my beloved scrabble list, T and N have served us well before - on the other hand, have the mods figured out our strategy :-)

I've popped in a request for T - I think that leaves two.

message 182: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Good thinking Trish.
Well that T didn't give much, probably a 'the' there. Should we try another of the most-used consonants?

message 183: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) Hmm, I was expecting 'the' to be the first word not the second! Makes me wonder what the first word could be... For the? And the?

message 184: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments What letter should we pick?

message 185: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments @Aimee that seems plausible.

message 186: by Ellie (new)

Ellie (patchworkbunny) | 2992 comments Maybe go for F, as it might help with the two letter word as well as the first one.

message 187: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Let's do that.

message 188: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) I've finished my second book (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea) so that's another guess available.

message 189: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments There was no F. Should we go back to our trusted strategy and choose N?

message 190: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Going for the N

message 191: by Dori (new)

Dori (daisydori) | 169 comments Great work team! Unbelievable as it is I actually managed to finish a book! Spreadsheet updated :) again, sorry I can't contribute more, work is hectic! I listen to an audiobook in the car on my way to work and back home though and I try to get some reading done in the evenings!

message 192: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments no N either...

message 193: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments We have three guesses atm, so I'll go ahead and choose an R before going to sleep, and then we'll have more guesses tomorrow, or later if anyone is another time zone or is awake at night.
Sleep tight!

I'm thinking L, H and S next. I've submitted L, to see what that gives us, if anything.

H might be worth it to confirm (or not) that the second word is The.

On the two-letter, S might be the next one try try (is, as) as a lot of the common two-letters are now ruled out.

Sarah (sezziy) | 614 comments Aimee wrote: "I've finished my second book (Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea) so that's another guess available."

I've just finished the same book :) I'll update it on the spreadsheet

message 196: by Johanne (new)

Johanne *the biblionaut* | 1668 comments Well, not a lot of luck with the guesses on this one. But then again that's also a help to know what's not there.

message 197: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) Dori wrote: "Great work team! Unbelievable as it is I actually managed to finish a book! Spreadsheet updated :) again, sorry I can't contribute more, work is hectic! I listen to an audiobook in the car on my wa..."

Dori don't feel bad! We don't all have the same schedules or ability to read all the time. You're definitely contributing :)

Oh are you doing the Popsugar challenge? I used it for 'book with 20 in the title'.

message 199: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) Sorry for commenting three times in a row, but do you think it's worth guessing L to see if the first word is 'all' (as in 'all the')?

I was thinking of the same book for Popsugar, although I ended up using On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century
