Echo (mrsbookmark) | 307 comments @ writing guides...the only one I really liked was actually DIALOGUE SECRETS which is really for screen writers but it helped me a lot. I just read the book Ines suggested and its not bad.

@Lorraine Welcome! I hope you reach your goal. I have tons of stuff I never showed anyone or have any intentions too. Find your voice.

I did well this week. I reached 38K and rewrote two chapters which I am pleased with. I also wrote up a blog post and a blog interview. And did a first round edit on an SF short story I want to submit to a magazine.

Kim (kimgm) | 1032 comments This morning I did my first entry for the "30 Days, 30 stories" writing challenge which fellow author Nia Forrester told me about. I posted my first entry this morning on my FB author page, but you can also see it on my blog here on Goodreads.

message 53: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson @Echo, you are killing it!

I bowed to peer pressure and started the 30 days 30 stories challenge with word-pusher Kim.

I finished yesterday's scene in my WIP!

And I got my next release's copyedits back early with compliments as well as suggestions.

February is gonna be busy and I'm gonna need ya'll to tell me to slow down and read a book every once in awhile!

message 54: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson Got 623 words today!
And wrote story #2 for the 30 stories in 30 days!

Hehehe! Ines, this is bad...I am a naughty influence. ;)

Ines Johnson I killed it today! Are you ready for it....3,229 words! WHAT!!!!! Yuuuup, I did it! Was trapped at a gaming tournament with my 12 year old son from 10am-4pm without internet, while listening to teens and grown men make up worlds and role play. It helped!

Gonna try and get my short story in before calling it a night.

message 60: by Dawn (new)

Dawn Prough (deprough) | 37 comments Dang! I wish I'd had that kind of output today. I had a killer headache and it hasn't gotten better.

message 61: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson Headaches and creativity don't mix:-( Wishing you a clear head and many words tomorrow.

message 62: by Echo (new)

Echo (mrsbookmark) | 307 comments Go Inez!

I didn't make the short story. Friends came over. There was wine. There was sake. Echo over and out.

Gogogo, Ines! :D Wow! I spent yesterday rereading what I wrote and making tiny changes.

Ines Johnson While everyone else was watching some sporting event, I got A LOT done today.

-Submitted the print and ebook version of my full serial to KDP

-Incorporated copy edits of chapter 1-3 of the next release.

-Began revisions of the first 2 of 7 scenes of a short story I've been playing around with. Really digging this story. I think I'm going to put it up on Wattpad beginning the end of this week.

-For the 30 stories in 30 days, I've been writing these 250-300 word shorts here in Goodreads. What keeps coming out of me is backstory for a series I planned to write next year about (view spoiler). Its exciting!

That's awesome! I had plans to write during the game, but it was great, and I'm a huge football fan. So instead, I'm going to write now. It's almost midnight, but I feel like that's when I get the most done. The house is quiet, and there's nothing but my thoughts.

I'm trying to get past this difficult scene, so wish me luck!

You had a super-productive day, Ines! :) I, on the other hand, was mostly in a food coma from brunch. :) And since we're six hours ahead in Sweden and the Superbowl wasn't on until the middle of the night here, I can't use the game as as excuse. ;)

But seriously, I talked writing with one of my friends during brunch. I received mock-ups of my new book covers (and they look great!) and I think I worked out how to fix a plot hole in one of my books. I just need to write it down now. :)

message 67: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson @Bianca, sending wishes of luck and flowing words!

@Kim, oh its nothing like getting that cover. Cover artists are sometimes mind readers.

message 68: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson I think I got about 400 words today in the new WIP. It was mostly a revision day for me. I incorporated the copyedits of 3 chapters of the next release.

message 69: by Bianca (new)

Bianca Dean (biancadeanink) | 25 comments @Ines Awesome.

I was writing and then realized I didn't like it at all. Ended up trashing it, but I got about 700 words so far. Time to keep pressing on.

message 70: by Dawn (new)

Dawn Prough (deprough) | 37 comments I know I don't post here daily but I had to tell everyone about this: I finished the climatic scene in my biggest WIP (150,000+ words) today! I have another scene of wrap up and then editing can start! So excited!

message 71: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson @Dawn, my heart started palpitated at that huge number of words! Shesh woman! I can't wait to find out your final word count. I'm guessing its syfy or fantasy?

message 72: by Dawn (new)

Dawn Prough (deprough) | 37 comments You are correct - it's Sci-fi. The premise is that humans left Earth long ago in 13 ships. One of them is now their prison ship and the story is about a chain of events started by the corrupt Warden.

Congrats, Dawn! :D

message 74: by Dawn (new)

Dawn Prough (deprough) | 37 comments Thanks, Kim. I was wrong - my editor updated the word count today and the total is right 220,000! That's before editing - I know that we need to add at least two more scenes in it. No wonder it's been 18 months working on this thing.

message 75: by Kim (new)

Kim (kimgm) | 1032 comments Wow! Impressive! :D

message 76: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson Got maybe 1k words today!

message 77: by Bianca (new)

Bianca Dean (biancadeanink) | 25 comments Ines wrote: "Got maybe 1k words today!"

Awesome!

So far, I've been working on my WIP for 15 days and I've got 52,000 words. I'm a machine...sometimes :)

message 79: by Kim (new)

Kim (kimgm) | 1032 comments It's been a hellish few days at work. The only thing I managed to write yesterday (besides copy about a perfume) was my 30 Days, 30 Stories entry. I can't wait for things to calm down so I can get back in the flow again.

message 80: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson @Kim, wishing you calm so you can get back in the flow.
@Bianca, do you mean you got all those words in just 15 days! If so, you are my heroine!

-I'm keeping up my schedule of polishing the copyedits of my next release.
-Sweeping through Book 2 in a serial, prepping it for Betas.
-And writing about 500 words per day in a story to keep my writing muscle in shape. The muscle building story, the alien-Buddha story where you met the blue scorpion that stung the girl, is really coming together. I'm going to put it up on Wattpad this weekend and maybe in KDP when its done.

message 81: by Echo (new)

Echo (mrsbookmark) | 307 comments I finally reached the 40K mark for my manuscript for "SKIN". Will take the weekend to do some reading and write a blog column and finish up a short I need to do. I dropped behind a bit in the 30 stories, but I was on a roll with the novel.

message 82: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson @Echo -You go girl!

message 83: by Cecily (new)

Cecily Hayward | 20 comments Kind of on a pause as I focus on school and work related writing. I find it blocks me from being able to move a story. I just don't find it as easy to come up with stuff when my brain is bogged with medical terminology. Anyone else have this type of issue? Trying to work past it.

message 84: by Bianca (new)

Bianca Dean (biancadeanink) | 25 comments @Kim - I did! It's amazing. Don't get me wrong, my work schedule totally helps, and I usually write into the wee hours of the morning, but I did it!

Now tho, I haven't written anything for the story in 2 days, and it's making me feel bad :/

On the plus side, I did start working on a short story...so I feel just a little bit better. It's hard tho because it's kinda based on a true story.

message 85: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson Hey guys, I took the weekend off. But then I still wound up writing 1000 words tonight as I sat down and planned my week. I'm back at it tomorrow! Hope you guys got some great plans for this next amazing week in writing.

Sharpen your pencils and let's do this!

message 86: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson Got a lot of editing done today -like A LOT. Then wrote a blog post for my upcoming blog tour of my next release.

message 87: by Echo (new)

Echo (mrsbookmark) | 307 comments Howdy!
So far, wrote steadily on the main WIP.@ 1500 today and a fair amount of editing on a submission WIP. Did a blog post. Desktop computer going into the shop this week, so trying to back up my stuff. Want to catch up on my short stories.
Way to go Ines!

message 88: by Kim (new)

Kim (kimgm) | 1032 comments Yesterday, I compiled my first twelve stories for 30 Days, 30 Stories and uploaded them to Wattpad.

I also worked on a chapter for my new novel.

message 89: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson That's not fair that's great, Echo!
Yeah, Kim! I saw your stuff on Wattpad

message 90: by Bianca (new)

Bianca Dean (biancadeanink) | 25 comments I got a lot done today. 3 book reviews, I wrote out one blog post, I updated my Tumblr....and I wrote almost 5K today! I'm finally over the 70K mark woo hoo!

Kim (kimgm) | 1032 comments Ines wrote: "That's not fair that's great, Echo!

Are you on Wattpad as well, Ines? I've been on there for years and not been active until now.

I think I am going to post my next serial novella on Wattpad + my blog.

Last night was not a good writing night. I was too tired after having spent my entire workday in meetings that went nowhere. :P

message 92: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson @Bianca -serious cheers for you girl!

@Kim, I am on Wattpad. I'm serializing that alien abduction story I was playing with. I followed you.

PS-meetings are a stupid grown fad that I hope will fade soon;-)

message 93: by Kim (new)

Kim (kimgm) | 1032 comments @Ines I'm following you now too! :D It will be cool to read the story compiled. :)

message 94: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson Wednesday is my busiest day. I'm lucky to still be on my feet...well I'm off my feet now and going to bed. I took a lot of notes on my WIP and put together my media kit for my next release. But that's it. Ines -out!

message 95: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson No new words today. I just got the cover for my next release and I've just been staring at it all day! Seriously. I can't wait to share it with you guys!!!!!!!

message 96: by Kim (new)

Kim (kimgm) | 1032 comments I wrote a brand spanking new entry for 30 Days 30 Stories and started thinking about how I can use Thunderclap for my next launch.

message 98: by Echo (new)

Echo (mrsbookmark) | 307 comments I had a cold most of the week, but kept up my word count. I got a royalty check, small, but made me happy and gave me the motivation to keep up my editing WIP so I can get it out there. Did about three chapter of editing today.

message 99: by Ines (new)

Ines Johnson Lots of admin work today: emailing bloggers, updating back matter of my backlist with my next release, uploading my next release to Amazon and Goodreads.

I just looked down to see that I never left my pajamas from last night! No new words for me tonight. I'm gonna take a shower and go to bed.
