Interesting comment Clashton. I I must say I never heard of the series. I must live under a rock. How is the series? I enjoy learning about and reading new detective series. Thank for your feed back it stuck my interest of this author.

You must pay a ransom.
But that's not all. You must also select another family and kidnap one of theirs. Your child will not be released until that family has also paid the ransom and kidnapped another child.
“Two things you must remember. Number one: you are not the first and you will certainly not be the last. Number two: remember, it’s not about the money—it’s about The Chain. The most important thing is that The Chain itself continues.
I've been a fan of Adrian McKinty's Sean Duffy series for years but this high-tension thriller blew those out of the water. It does not stop. It does not slow down. It doesn't even give readers a chance to catch their breath. It is that good. I highly recommend it.

I love these type of books and this had me on the edge of my seat for the first half of the book. The second half for me just didn't have the "gritty feel" as Matthew- message 11 put it.
I am however very excited to try some of his other books, especially if this is not considered one of his better works.

I have read several of his Detective Sean Duffy series - set in Northern Ireland in the 1980s, the crimes are set against the backdrop of civil unrest at the height of The Troubles so they have a really intriguing atmosphere. That, coupled with the fact that Sean Duffy is a rare Catholic in a largely-Protestant Royal Ulster Constabulary, makes for some interesting confrontations!
Read and enjoy!!

also i was left with some unanswered questions:
-what happened to erik's daughter after his death? he pretty much said to rachel that he was the only family she had.
-did rachel beat cancer in the end?
-was pete really recovering from his addiction or was he lying again?
-everything about ginger's motivations lmao. was there a real purpose for the chain in her mind or not? also if she was suspicious about rachel from the beginning, why did she accept her as a victim?
i don't know. maybe i missed the answers or maybe i'm jist reading to much into it.
