Char | 17485 comments We're glad to you have you, Marc.

Even if some don't like the book, group reads here can be a lot of fun.

Chandler | 262 comments Finished this today and really enjoyed it! I liked the classic slasher vibes. It makes me want to see a movie version of it. (view spoiler)

Pauline Lang | 18 comments Just finished and gave it 4 stars. Had it not been for a bit of a slow start it would have a 5 star read. Loved the classic slasher vibe, the characters ( I was not in the least bothered by the teens ) and the overall ambiance. Living in the country I can honestly say that I will not be going near a cornfield anytime soon. Thanks to the people who recommended this group read.

Meli (melihooker) | 105 comments I rated it a 4, but I agree with all, the beginning was slow. But it hit me at the right time, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the town and it was just the right amount of sinister under the surface for my taste.

message 106: by Ryan (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ryan Johnson (whatryansreading) | 16 comments This just isn't my kind of horror, unfortunately, a little too much action, not enough genuine tension (plus I really wish I got to know these characters a little better). I know a lot of you have and will love it, and that's fantastic, but for me it's a 2.5. Still, glad I could join in the group read, no telling how long I would have out this one off otherwise.

message 107: by Greg (new) - rated it 4 stars

Greg | 383 comments Ryan I guess I'm the opposite. A good build in tension is great but if the action isn't there it's just a sneeze that doesn't happen.

It's okay if you didn't care for it as much as many others did. I'm not much into extreme horror these days, but I made an exception for this one and the latest Hunter Shea. These were both good, I thought, but these days I'm more into quiet, or cosmic horror.

Melissa ♥ Dog/Wolf Lover ♥ Martin | 2262 comments I don’t like much gore horror any more myself. I guess it just depends on how it’s done. I enjoyed this book. It was a bit strange for me but it was ok enough 😉

Omg! A sneeze that doesn’t happen is the worst 😂🤣

I totally feel this. I need action.

Tom | 20 comments Just finished the audio version. This was a pretty entertaining listen and had a ‘Hot Fuzz’ kind of vibe with the whole ‘evil bunch of small town locals set against a set of young heroes’ as a theme. The author creates some great tension in a number of scenes, but I felt the theme of modern day generation misunderstood by previous older one was a little shoe-horned at times. There were no particularly original plot elements or twists, however the story was redeemed by good characterisation. Going to write a longer review for Goodreads and Audible.

Kaitlan (kissfromaprose) | 34 comments I completely forgot what I came here to say after going through just the first page of comments😂

This was also my first group read! I agree, the book was just alright. I gave it three stars. But I must say, it was exciting to be a part of it😊

82 pages in and so far a nice smooth, quick pace, although very little has happened. I'm guessing things begin to pick up with Founder's Day.

I will be reading it this month (migraines put a big slow-down on reading....that and homeschooling). However, I figure this is the perfect month for it!

So I finished this. And...yeahhhh. So I was wondering when this thing would get going and, bam, page 114 it gets going finally. And then a few pages later gets going more - by which time I figured out the "twist". And then......the story just snowballs getting more cray-cray all the way down. Was not expecting that.

I still plan on reading this, but it will be this month now--I hope!

It was fun, but it got a bit too bat-shit crazy for me. I guess I found it disconcerting that the tone changed so much at one point.

message 127: by Nick (new) - rated it 4 stars

Nick Silverstein (nsilvers) | 7 comments I just finished this book just now. I love that it reads like a horror/slasher film and I thought it was fun and original. I can not wait for the sequel in August. One thing I didn't understand......What exactly were Ronnie and Matt doing? Were they working with the clowns, or trying to frame Quinn? It seemed like they made a deal with Dunne

Alison | 27 comments Read 1&2 writhing days! Loved it

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 878 comments I finally got a copy! I ordered it for last Halloween but it didn't arrive until Jan this year haha. So I'm saving it for Halloween this year now.

I save books just for Halloween too... sometimes waaay more than I can read in just one month! But then, there will always be Halloween next year! :)

message 132: by Char (new) - rated it 4 stars

Char | 17485 comments I've been doing that whole "well there's always next year"
thing for about two decades now. LOL

We need these awesome authors to slow down writing all these fun and amazing books so we can catch up.

Agreed. (well, sort of.... I'm adjusting to the fact that I'd have to be 305 to read all the books I have NOW, if I STOPPED buying any new ones... ;) ).

Krystal (krystallee6363) | 878 comments Haha yes! I save many horror books for Halloween but if I don't get through them they usually pile up for next year XD
