Laura - No problem that series makes you see the villians in a whole new delicious light plus the heroines are sassy. I actually thought it would be too dark for me but I was hooked from the start and can't wait until I read the next books but I go through them way too quick 🙂.Sonja - I know this thread is bad on the tbr pile 🤣
@Romantic - Oh i have always loved the villians more then the heroes ussually, so its perfect for me and while seems dark im hoping its the level i can handle. I haven't read much mf lately so be great to get back into with some of these 😊

Sonja wrote: "I’m with you Chaos! Distance learning is no joke! 😱🥴 Hang in there! Aiswrya I’m almost done with yours!"
You Too! I'm glad miss 4 is still at kinder, I couldn't do both this time around,
In Australia here unfortunately or fortunately however you wanna look at it, I'm in Regional Victoria stage 3 lock-down and I think there's still three weeks till the spring school holidays. 😫
Hi Fran! Interesting how 2 PIFM challenges ago you picked for me, lol. Here are your picks :D:
The Rise of Nintendo
While the 70s saw a growth in video and arcade games, the arrival of home computers nearly destroyed the industry, until Japanese company Nintendo revived it with the Famicom console and the still wildly popular Mario character. By 1989, Nintendo Entertainment System would claim 90% of the American video game market.
Recommend a book that
♫ is set in an Asian country
♫ has a nerdy or geeky character or character who plays video games at some point in the book
♫ has a fantasy or paranormal tag
TBR: Beastly (fantasy)
NEW: The Best Laid Plans (character plays video games~Andrew)
Space Exploration
Space exploration took some exciting and tragic turns in the 80s. The arrival of Halley’s Comet in 1986 was met by a series of Soviet, Japanese and European Space Agency probes. After a six-year hiatus, America resumed space flights with astronauts with the launch of the Columbia in 1981. Several more successful launches occurred and then the tragic explosion of the space shuttle Challenger which brought forth extensive efforts to improve management practices for NASA. The Soviet space program continued to do well during the 80s.
Recommend a book that
♫ features lovers separated for any period of time
♫ has stars and/or the night sky on the cover
♫ has a character who is interested in science
TBR: Christmas Cliche (night sky)
NEW: Starry Eyes (stars on cover, highly recommend!)
The Cold War 1947-1991
The Cold War hit its peak during the 80s with the Soviet-Afghan War, the Invasion of Granada and the Salvadoran Civil Wars and came to an end just after the decade rolled out.
Recommend a book that
♫ includes some kind of war (your interpretation)
♫ is set in a country other than your own
♫ is tagged historical
NEW: Refugee (historical)
NEW: Lovely War (war going on..?)
The Fall of the Berlin Wall 1989
“Mr Gorbachev, tear down this wall.” US President Reagan’s famous phrase. The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 marked the beginning of German reunification.
Recommend a book that
♫ is set in Europe
♫ features a new beginning or a reformation (your interpretation!)
♫ has a gray cover or has a wall on the cover
TBR: Taming the Vampire (gray cover)
NEW: One Paris Summer (set in Europe, I honestly didn't really like this book, but...)
Music Television, 1981
MTV launched on August 1, 1981 and catapulted music videos into a larger portion of the recording industry. Music from artists and groups ran the gambit of genres from Pop to Techno; Heavy Metal and Punk Rock. New devices such as the Sony Walkman, cassette tapes and, at the end of the decade, compact discs made private music portable – and public. The number of infamous artists and music groups that took off in the decade is way too long to list, but many are recognizable and/or have reappeared in the last several years.
Recommend a book that
♫ features music or some form of art (your interpretation)
♫ is part of a series
♫ has more than two people on the cover
TBR: Harker's Journey (part of a series)
NEW: The Stand-In Boyfriend (is part of a series but can be considered a stand-alone)
Teen Flicks and the Brat Pack
The 80’s was most definitely the golden age of “teen flicks” and launched the term ‘Brat Pack’. Such films as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Pretty in Pink, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Valley Girl, Dirty Dancing, Flashdance, Footloose and The Breakfast Club launched many actors who are high-profile celebrities today.
Recommend a book that
♫ is set in a school
♫ features a girl or woman on the cover
♫ has an NA or YA tag
TBR: Vixen in Vegas (woman on cover)
NEW: The Kissing Booth (set in school)
Decade in Sports
Lots of major events came out of the ‘80’s in sports. The USA ‘Miracle’ Hockey team beat out the Soviet Union’s Red Army in the 1980 Winter Olympics. Canadian hockey great Wayne Gretzky’s rise to fame coincided with the Edmonton Oiler’s first 4 Stanley Cup championships. A Jamaican bobsled team stunned the world during the 1988 Winter Olympics in Canada for its unexpected good performance. Italy won the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Argentina won the 1986 FIFA World cup in Mexico. English team Liverpool F.C. were the most successful football club of the era. The San Francisco 49ers ushered in the ‘Joe Montana Era’ in the NFL and the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers dominated the NBA, a succession known as the Celtics-Lakers Rivalry.
Recommend a book that
♫ features a male only on the cover
♫ has a sports tag
♫ is set in any of the above named countries: Canada, England, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Jamaica, Soviet Union/Russia or United States.
TBR: Bachelor's Bait (male on cover)
NEW: Head Over Heels (sports)
LOUD Fashion
The ‘80’s saw an extravagant style modification that appears to be making a comeback. Popular styles included teased hair, ripped jeans, neon clothing and lots of colors/designs. Hairstyles included the perm, the mullet, the Jheri curl, the hi-top fade and big hair. Shoulder pads, jean jackets, aviator sunglasses and acid-wash jeans were just some of the styles worn. Miniskirts made a dramatic comeback after a decade absence. The term “Preppy” also came about with Izod polo shirts. And the makeup trends… oh goodness the makeup… aggressive, shiny and COLORFUL.
Recommend a book that
♫ with a bright or colorful cover
♫ features a stylish character or cover (your interpretation)
♫ has a contemporary tag
NEW: Since You've Been Gone
NEW: The Selection (contemporary!)

Thanks Laura for the great picks! I see several I want to read as soon as the month starts - and a few that I will likely read before the current month ends! (Fortunately, I can use the series rule for those books. 😉)
Hi Mony! Here are your picks - finally! Sorry about the delay, but I got busy the next day and haven't really looked at my computer for the last couple of days. And then, I realized I picked for you last month too and had to check to make sure I wasn't duplicating those - hopefully I caught them all! I saw the comment on your profile about looking for well written PNR and HR, so I tried to find some for you. 🤞🏼The Rise of Nintendo:
NEW: Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione - A really interesting series full of shades of gray - the 'good guys' aren't all good and the 'bad guys' aren't bad. I've really enjoyed it!
TBR: Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs - I should give this series a try, it has just never bubbled to the top for me!

TBR: To Tame a Highland Warrior by Karen Marie Moning - Loved this series too!
The Fall of the Berlin Wall:
NEW: Texas Destiny by Lorraine Heath - This is another all time favorite HR trilogy! I read them years ago and and currently working on a reread - it has lived up to my memories!
TBR: Revel by Shey Stahl - Looks good!
MTV:
NEW: Storm's Heart by Thea Harrison - Looks like you enjoyed the first, I loved the whole series!
TBR: Wild Sweet Love by Beverly Jenkins - I remember seeing this one in another challenge, heard it was good!
Teen Flicks and the Brat Pack:
NEW: The Year We Fell Down by Sarina Bowen - I am not a big YA or NA fan, but I loved this series!
TBR: American Demon by Kim Harrison - If you are on #14 in a series, it must be good!
Decade in Sports:
NEW: Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey - I love this family! Love stories with humor - works in my book!
TBR: Jock Blocked by Pippa Grant - Sounds cute!
LOUD Fashion:
NEW: Strong by Kylie Scott - You liked this series, but haven't read the following novellas - it was good to get back into that world again for me!

Im glad you like them! And thankful for the series rule. Although im happy to repick those if want? 😊
I have been joining pitfm all year and have only just realised the rule is only minimum 1 book from preferred shelf, the rest can be from their tbr.
Would totally have picked different for so many if realised, but i just went completely from preferred shelf. Somehow my brain has always said the picks had to come from preffered shelf and the rest new. So thanks as made me check rules again 😂
