Julietta (julesnosenabook) | 37 comments I've decided to try to add some humor into my reading as an antidote to too much seriousness, so the Quarterly Challenge "Laugh it up" caught my eye just in time! I'm readingWe Are Never Meeting in Real Life. by Samantha Irby and listening to Brain Droppings by George Carlin. I have a few more titles cued up as well!

message 2468: by Amado44 (new)

Amado44 | 1 comments I am currently reading Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman. It is very sophisticated and a challenge to read because of how intellectual it is down to the topics, ideas and words.

If someone can help me understand this sentence I would really appreciate it, "As Freud described in Civilization and Its Discontents, society has had to enforce from without rules meant to subdue tides of emotional excess that surge too freely within".

Arzu Genç-El Ashy | 6 comments I finished my 22nd book of the year. It was “tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow” I enjoyed it very much. I just started the “astonishing Color of after” it is going little slow but it is an interesting book. It is getting better and better. On the side as a lighter fun book I am reading “ wedding date” it is a little disappointment so far. Nothing special about it.

Society has rules to stop people creating an emotional mess but people don't always obey the rules so society has to police them.

Woman Reading (is away exploring) | 392 comments If you're a fan of Leigh Bardugo, then go ahead and pick up Hell Bent (Alex Stern, #2) by Leigh Bardugo Hell Bent #2 in the Alex Stern eventually-to-be trilogy.

It's been a while since I had read a novel that completely gripped me from the beginning. It only took 7 pages for Hell Bent to sink its claws into me.

I've got to look into the Grishaverse now.
