Woman Reading (is away exploring) | 392 comments The End of Gender Debunking the Myths about Sex and Identity in Our Society by Debra Soh The End of Gender: Debunking the Myths about Sex and Identity in Our Society by Debra Soh

March is Women's History Month. This is about current history - gender politics that have been heavily impacted by earlier feminist stances. I read this as a follow-up because two previous science books held opposing positions on whether human brains display differences based upon sex.

Heather Wescott | 461 comments I'm currently reading Hamnet and The Song of Achilles.

I recently finished The Fifth Season (excellent) and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (not good - disappointing since I really enjoyed The Hunger Games trilogy).

PattyMacDotComma A good read! Bitter Wash Road is the first of a series about a rural Aussie copshop run by a 'disgraced' ex-detective. (Moral: never ever rat on crooked cops.) Add me to the list of Garry Disher's fans!

Woman Reading (is away exploring) | 392 comments The Looking Glass War by John le Carré The Looking Glass War #4. In the Introduction, John le Carré explained his motivation for writing this installment the way that he had, which was helpful. For those who didn't benefit from that, The Looking Glass War would be really confusing. How could such an incompetent sister service such as the Department still exist to flail about like it did here? Surely all of the British agencies were as adept as their Circus?

PattyMacDotComma Aussie author Susan Johnson has just released From Where I Fell. Two women from opposite sides of the world reveal more about themselves than they intended in their accidental email 'penpalship'. I loved the slightly naughty feeling of spying on them.

Karin | 228 comments Last night I started Sula by Toni Morrison Sula and Roseanna (Martin Beck, #1) by Maj Sjöwall Roseanna for group reads (but at least one will work for one of the yearly challenges here and both work for other things as well).
Since they are both fairly dark, I also started a light, fun book called Sprouted (Lacey Luzzi Mafia Mysteries, #11) by Gina LaManna Sprouted.

I started the series for that third book for a huge, intense team reading game last year because it fit mafia but was funny and light, and since they get better as they go (three stars is a like and can mean I really enjoy certain kinds of books but the last one got 4 stars.) It will also count for one of the Yearly challenges here, and if it works for my team, will fit for series with more than 12 books.
