So basically the plot of the book i remember is the girl moves to a new town. I a cant remember if she almost died or not but anyway, she finds out she has the ability to hear the songs of the elements and she begins to learn about them. She ends up taking a three day spirit journey inside a cave with no food or water where the mouth of the cave has salt and if she crosses the salt something happens idk. But she is not to cross the salt, and there is this guy outside of the cave who helps her and tells her to trust him. She hears some stuff and sees some stuff and finds a list of names of others who have taken the journey and she ends up melting into the cave floor and becoming one with the earth and such. When she comes back to her body she finds a feather which she ends up being told to keep and then she goes home and the person she is living with preforms a spell and it makes her spirit animal totem and she puts the feather and totem into a pouch she is told to wear around her neck and never ever let anyone look inside. Then at some point she became one with a bird and "flew." I cant remember much else but someone please help me with the name of this book. I read it about 1-2 years ago maybe. Idk exactly. And i know its based around native american mythology. Also its got romance and she knows how to ride horses. I think its young adult but idk. I think it also was possible she moved in with her grandma or grandpa. I think it was grandma though. And it took place in texas i think. It was definitely modern and i think she lived in a racist town but i could be mistaken.
