Beata I'm pretty new to contemporary too, but I've figured out it's best if you find an author you really like and read all of their books. Here are some authors and books I like:

- Rainbow Rowell(my personal favourite is Fangirl)
- John Green (obviously. Start with TFIOS)
- Stephanie Perkins
- Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac
- The Anne of Green Gables series (seriously the best. I can't believe people don't read this anymore. READ IT EVERYBODY!)
- I'll Give You the Sun
- Panic
- Meant to Be

Also, I saw that someone recommended The Book Thief earlier. That's one of my favourite books ever, but it's historical fiction. There's a BIG difference between contemporary and historical, but if you're into that then Micheal Morpurgo is also amazing.

Michelle Is Panic really a contemporary book? I thought it was leaning towards dystopian.

London Setterby Just wanted to add, try Maureen Johnson. Some of her books are better than others but Suite Scarlett is really great.

Panic is contemporary, its not happy og Lucky but it takes Place now in todays worlkd, so yes contemporary. Heared its supposed to be scary, but books can be contemporary and scary at the same time.(all fall Down, night School++)contemporary just means no supernatural or sifi elementes which is right for panic.

Alexa Pretty much any Sarah dessen book...

Michelle @Oda Okay. That makes sense. Thanks.

Lina Lola and the Boy Next Door
Just One Day
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer
the unbecoming of mara dyer is one of my favorites.

Michelle All of you are great! I have so many new books to start!

Florencia Do yourself a favour and read The sea of tranquility by Kadja Millay. I don't know of anybody who hasn't loved it.

-Melina Marchetta: true wizard of the great writing. My favourites are On the Jellicoe Road, The piper's son (which is the sequel to Saving Francesca, which I thought was okay) and her fantasy triology.
-Since you've been gone, by Morgan Matson. Fun, heart-warming and very Dessen-ish.

And the rest I'd recommend have been already mentioned.
