If team games aren’t your thing, or you’re just looking for some additional challenge for the week, this read-a-thon has some solo fun for you!

Object: Read a book that is somehow connected to each of the designs in the Bingo board. What you consider a "win" is up to you. If you want to take on a big challenge then go for a full card. If that's a bit much for you, then go for some of the other Bingo patterns: 4 down/across, 4 corners, postage stamp, etc.

How can my book connect to the image? The connection can be anything that you can reasonably explain. That means you can connect colors on your cover, words in the title, or content/theme of the design. See the first comment for some examples. Be creative!

What about pages? For every 200 pages read, you earn the ability to count a book for two squares

Oooh I love this. I'll probably go for a bingo that involves four books, because finishing 4 books seems like an unreachable challenge at the moment lol

Hannah Peterson | 700 comments Oh, this is fun! I wasn't sure enough about my schedule this week to commit to a team, but I'd like to give this a try. Could someone remind me - you're allowed to count a book that you've started before the read-a-thon as long as you have a certain number of pages left, right? (Edit: found it! 100 pages left.) The book I just started would work really well for one of these categories.

Can't resist, even while doing ATY yearly challenge, summer challenge, readathon, and a summer challenge in another group!

Note on 7/21 - Typically for me, I dived right in & didn't read all the directions. I have enough pages for 5 free spaces, which gives me Bingos on Column A, Row 3, Row 4, and 4 corners

Update end of Jul 26 - I read 8 books with over 1700 pages, so I think that gives me 8 books and 8 free squares, covering the whole board!

[-----][-----] The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett [-----]

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo Get a Life, Chloe Brown (The Brown Sisters, #1) by Talia Hibbert Three Floors Up by Eshkol Nevo A Hope More Powerful Than the Sea One Refugee's Incredible Story of Love, Loss, and Survival by Melissa Fleming

A4: Strong female character overcoming obstacles.

B3: Music plays a strong part in the story of Lucy Gray

B4: Rescues a cat, works on a laptop

C2: Vanishing ties this in.

C4: 7 deadly sins: pride, greed, wrath, and lust are all important to this book.

D1: I interpreted this as the Earth eating an alien. I see now it's the moon. People from Earth went to an alien planet in The Sparrow, so that's my tie in. Really though, The Sparrow fits so many of these.

D4: the perfect fit, this is the story of a Syrian refugee, and many days could have easily been the day of her death, but "not today"

With 200 page bonus:
