Great ! I will slot it in for hand 4/draw 2. We still have a couple of people that we haven't heard from, but will by the time we start, so we should be able to complete hand 3 and quite possibly hand 4.
That is my plan too to read by hands.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments If we have trouble completing hand 3 for card 9, I have a book to slot in there. It means I might not get to the book currently slotted for hand 4 for Draw 2. It would mean reading 6 books, and that's a stretch. However, all my books are short, and hopefully entertaining, so I might be able to do 6.

Spinosaurus
Author's last name begins with an N (Navikov)

Other cards it fits:

0 = standalone
3 = author's first begins with an H.
Wild Draw 4 = animal on the cover. (Next one is in Hand 8, where this book also matches 0, 3, and 9.)

I have a potential book for that one too. Also, we have a couple of people who are going to read and post books as they go who we don't know where they will fit yet. We will be flip flopping books :). So we'll figure it out as we are in Toppler mode. :) I'm glad you are thinking about it!!

I’m on my phone right now. Once I get back home to my computer, I’ll let you know where my books can help out!

Joe | 93 comments I am a teacher so I have time right now. I can probably get at least three books done this week.

Here are some I am looking at:

All's Well That Ends Well
Card 2 or 6: yellow cover

The Taming of the Shrew
Card 2: yellow cover and begins with "T"
Card 6: yellow cover

The Winter's Tale
Card 4 or 8: blue cover
Wild: Winter in title

King Henry IV, Part 1
Card 1 or 5: red cover
Card 4: has a 4 in the title (I assume Roman numerals count...)
Skip: begins with 'K'

King Henry IV, Part 2
Card 2: book 2 in a series
Card 4: has a 4 in the title
Skip: begins with 'K'

King Henry VI, Part 1
Card 0: white cover?
Card 1: book 1 in a series
Card 6: has a 6 in the title
Skip: begins with 'K'

King Henry VI, Part 2
Card 1: red cover
Card 2 or 5: book 2 in a series
Card 6: Has 6 in the title
Skip: begins with 'K'

King Henry VI, Part 3
Card 2 or 5: red cover
Card 3: book 3 in a series
Card 6: has a 6 in the title
Skip: begins with 'K'

There are more, but I figured this was a start!

I would obviously like to read the King plays in order, if possible...

Let me know what will work and I'll be ready to go!!

Hey Joe - I am checking with Krisitie who is the moderator of the Toppler to see if plays qualify as "books" I think so because of the book length, but I need to double check. Crossing my fingers...
Also, when I was looking at the king books they are part of the "Wars of The Roses" series which begins with Richard II, so Henry IV part 1 is actually the 2nd in the series and Henry IV part 2 is the 3rd in the series and so forth. If we get the go ahead with your choices, I'm going to adjust the series numbers.
And congratulations on starting summer vacation!! I retired last year with 30 years in teaching and I know how wonderful the start of summer can be - especially after the insanity of teaching during COVID. You deserve some down time!

Joe you are good to go with your book choices!! I'm going to plug in your first 4/5 and then see how you are doing towards the middle of the week. When you finish a book you will report it in our Team "Three of a Kind" Reporting thread. Also include the cards it helps with. When you report can you adjust the series number for the Kings.

Jayme | 4554 comments Hey Team - We have hands 1-4 complete!!! (thanks Anna for the last one in hand 4). I am not going to start on hand 5 until we are Toppling away. Poongothia I will record your books and plug them in as you read them :)

As you complete a book report it in our Team "Three of a Kind" Reporting Thread. Make sure to include book name/cover, all cards it will fit, page count, and your Wall of Fame name. One book per message thread please. Once you have reported it I will mark it off on the spreadsheet and we will start racking up the points.

You won't hear from me once the Toppler starts until after 4:00 Saturday afternoon as I have my face-to-face book club meeting (via Zoom) from 1-4. Good Luck and Happy Toppling!!!

Debra, I teach band and orchestra, so reading is great down time for me in the summer! And with the worries about the start of next school year, it’s a great way to forget about that for a bit.

Thanks Debra. I want to make sure that every ones first 4 reads complete through hand 4 and then after that we start working on hands 5 and upward. If that makes sense.
