Children's book about hippie commune and school

This book was read in my elementary school class with my teacher around 2010.

- The story takes place in the waning years of the 60s peace and love movement, and it follows a 14 year old boy who grew up in a hippie style commune with his grandmother until it was raided by police and he was taken by Child Protective Services. Everyone else had left the commune to rejoin society except hippie boy and his grandma.
- He was adopted/fostered by a social worker who also grew up in a hippie commune, and understood what his life was like. This woman's daughter HATED the hippie boy at first and thought he was weird and embarrassing.
- The hippie boy did Tai Chi at school which everyone thought was weird at first but then people started joining him
- For some reason (I don't remember), the hippie boy went missing and everyone at his school thought he was dead, so they held a candlelight vigil for him. During the vigil, hippie boy shows up and proclaims to everyone that he's NOT dead and he's alright.
- At the end of the book, hippie grandma shows back up and is super rich now. (I think) she sold the deed of the land which the commune was on to a real estate company so they could build condos and she tells hippie boy that its okay to rejoin society.
