Courtney (sekay88) Just finished Sleep With The Lights On, Jonetta. Really good. My dilemma. Now that I've read all The In Death, and all of J.T. Ellison's awesome LT Taylor Jackson series, I'm looking for some new series that feature heroines like Eve and Taylor... tough, fair, real but still vulnerable, not bitchy (well, OK, Eve certainly is sometimes, haha). Suggestions?

Are you planning to finish this series, Brown and de Luca Series?

Here are a few others I've started and enjoyed with strong, interesting heroines:

1. Darby McCormick series by Chris Mooney
2. Faces of Evil series by Debra Webb
3. Fatal series by Marie Force
4. Kate Burkholder series by Linda Castillo
5. Rizzoli and Iles series by Tess Gerritsen

The first books in each series are below. Hope this is helpful!
The Missing (Darby McCormick #1) by Chris Mooney Silence (Faces of Evil, #0.5) by Debra Webb Fatal Affair (Fatal, #1) by Marie Force Sworn to Silence (Kate Burkholder, #1) by Linda Castillo The Surgeon (Jane Rizzoli & Maura Isles, #1) by Tess Gerritsen

Courtney (sekay88) That's terrific. Thanks, Jonetta. I will be reading the entire Brown & DeLuca series. I've read the first three of Debra Webb's Jess Harris novels. They, too, are superb. #4 is on TBR on the Kindle. Haven't tried the other series, but will be now. Thanks so much.

I'm at 60% and it's riveting. I'm going to open a BR thread for the series since I know we'll continue with the books & Quynh is also reading it.

Omg, Sandra! I was floored with book 2's ending I went straight into book 3! Lol. Is the new one Beyond the Consequences? I have a feeling I will not be moving on till I finish all of it.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
Yay!! That's the way I was...I had NO choice but to keep reading straight through them all. I think I said OMG about a thousand times while reading it. You still have some shockers coming at you. I thought the series was finished after BHE: The Missing Years (which is great!) but this one is Beyond & supposedly gives the answer to one question that was kind of left unanswered & gives us a peek at their lives later on, I guess. Preorders get the book a day early - Wed. 14th. I know what I'll be reading that day! lol I absolutely loved this series as it continually mystified, surprised & shocked me over & over.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
Oh & Kris...be sure to read those BHE books in order also. There's a little repetition but you actually learn a lot because you get things from Tony's pov. And answers to other things are revealed also.

message 63: by Ivy (new)

Ivy I'm going to re-read Animals and the Afterlife. I lost my sweet boy in May of last year. I read through this book shortly after that heartwrenching day and it helped so much. I still pick it up when I'm blue, but I think this year I want to read the whole thing again.

Ivy thanks Sheri. He was 17 and we had been together since he rescued me when he was just a few weeks old.

I'm sorry for your loss too.

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 9 comments Sandra - oh I know I have said OMG a million times in my head and out loud! I will def read Tony's books in order - it's so weird to think about reading anything from him point of view. Lol! Thanks for all your heads up! :)

Can't do it on the app. From the desktop version, access "add book/author" from the top right of the comment box. You can search for your book and add it once it's displayed. At the bottom of the selection box is the option to use the link or cover.

Let me know if this is unclear.

message 90: by Courtney (new)

Courtney (sekay88) Really enjoying Marie Force's Fatal series. Read Fatal Affair and Fatal Justice, waiting anxiously for #3 from library. Very much an "In Death, Jr." series in characters, scenario, dialogue, humor, large cast, etc. Lead character, Sgt., then LT Sam(antha) Holland, gives Eve a run for her money in all respects. While waiting, started Erica Spindler's Stacy Killian series. Read See Jane Die, currently reading Killer Takes All. Thoroughly enjoying as well. The fountain of terrific authors seems to be bottomless!

Picked up on the Stacy Killian character from the novella Slices of Night (Stacy Killian, #4.5) by J.T. Ellison that Spindler, JT Ellison and Alex Kava wrote that featured their main characters (Killian, Taylor Jackson, Maggie O'Dell). Waiting for the #1 O'Dell from the library.

I finished listening to The Good, the Bad, and the Undead by Kim Harrison, narrated by Marguerite Gavin, and enjoyed it immensely. Thanks to all of you who encouraged me to keep going with the series. Here's my review.

I'm now listening to Truth by Aleatha Romig and am already hooked.

Don't know how you stopped yourself last year...I couldn't. I had to binge straight through...at least, at that time, there were only the main 3. I got to read the BHE as they released.
