I agree with a lot of what you said. I gave it 2 stars too.

Sandra | 4736 comments I actually got bored half way through Lover Avenged and haven't read any further.

message 103: by Alisa (new)

Alisa @Sandra...I actually liked Rehv's book. Book 10 is where it started sliding down hill for me.

message 104: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments It just seemed to go on and on and not getting anywhere, for me.

That seems to what happens. I used to be able to read these books in one day, now, not so much, usually a couple of days. The breaks are needed.

message 106: by Alisa (new)

Alisa How do you guys feel about the fact that she's starting a new BDB spin off series and saying she'll make those like BDB used to be?

I'll read it, but probably won't buy it. Her books have been down listed to library ones for me. I sort of liked Paradise, really liked Creag, which gives me one step up from you.

I do think it says something about her as a writer that she has to start a new series to get it the old BDB feel. Why not just fix the series that you have been writing? That doesn't really make sense to me. But then again neither does her rice krispies quip. I think it's a cop out for her, a reason to excuse her bad mistakes she made in the book. It makes you wonder what her editor had to say.

message 108: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments It'll be just another series that I ignore.

I agree Darcy it smacks of cop out and greed. Trying to get back all the readers that have fallen away.

It's so much harder to get pissed off people back then keep them happy in the first place. Plus you know you did wrong if you have come up with a statement on release day. I think she had "writer's remorse".

message 110: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments Yep, totally agree. I won't be back.

message 111: by Alisa (new)

Alisa I totally agree. I refuse to buy the new series when the current one is such a rambling mess. Fix what you have now. She even says it's an attempt to get back to the way BDB used to be. I'm pretty sure Ward and I are breaking up. I may change my mind by the time the next one comes out but I don't think so. Too much other stuff out there to read.

message 112: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) I gave up on BDB at book #4 and the only reason I read the fourth book was that it fit into 4 different challenges at one time. I could never stand the idiotic dialogue, ridiculous villains and the constant brand dropping. There are way better vampire brotherhood romances out there.

Shera (Book Whispers) (sherabookwhispers) | 127 comments BDB was more exciting to me for the POV from the villains. I love a good villain POV.

Um like Darcy said why not make the books more like what they want to be and start a new series to try something new??

Honestly I think it is a shame what happened to her. She used to be really interesting then came the Wardies ...cellies..whatever anyways then came the glasses and I feel like she kind of lost her mind a little bit.

Exactly. She started believing she could do no wrong. Well she was just plain stupid, believing the hype. And her editor must of been on that same bandwagon.

It seems like the same sort of thing that happened with LKH. She always talks about her muse in the 3rd person. So weird.

There are some interesting twists and just general awesome plot on the way. I loved book 4 the most so far. I'm on book 7 but I'm afraid to start it. I've heard it's everyone's least favorite by far.

Thanks Robyn. I actually feel that not much has happened in book #3 so far. There has been very little actual story with most of it being character development. I'm more of a plot driven reader so this has bugged me a bit, but I like Rachel and company (except for Ivy) so I'm enjoying it overall.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Finished Half-Off Ragnarok (InCryptid, #3) by Seanan McGuire which was decent but the way it ended was meh

Also finished Killbox (Sirantha Jax, #4) by Ann Aguirre which was good ended on a bit of a cliff hanger and I cannot figure out who the person receiving the memo is. I must say though the situation with Rose and Doc rather sucked but likewise I am not a fan of March's choices as it come to Jax right now either

Next up is
Aftermath (Sirantha Jax, #5) by Ann Aguirre and Mate Bond (Shifters Unbound, #7) by Jennifer Ashley

Arielle Rae Aguilar | 161 comments Finished The Shadows (Black Dagger Brotherhood, #13) by J.R. Ward ... I try not to think about it too much, since it hurts, but I think I love it like all her other books(or is that just a sense of loyalty to Ward? *shrug*)
Can't wait for Blood Kiss (Black Dagger Legacy, #1) by J.R. Ward !!

Rereading Kushiel's Chosen (Phèdre's Trilogy, #2) by Jacqueline Carey :)

message 124: by Sandra, Need more time to Read!! (new)

Sandra | 4736 comments I've given up on Ward, I don't think I'd even bother to read them from the library now. I got bored half way through Lover Avenged and I've got a couple I haven't read yet, I think up to Lover at Last, but I could be wrong.

All I can think is that she started believing all the hype and her editor did as well.

message 125: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) I'm almost done listening to Every Which Way But Dead (The Hollows, #3) by Kim Harrison and all I have to say is if this book ends on a cliffhanger, I'm calling it quits!

Veronica (readingonthefly) Lauren wrote: "I'm almost done listening to Every Which Way But Dead (The Hollows, #3) by Kim Harrison and all I have to say is if this book ends on a cliffhanger, I'm calling it quits!"

Huh. I've never thought any of the Hollows books ended on cliffhangars. I always thought the author ended the books with Rachel sort of tying up the books events in a neat little paragraph at the end. It's been a long time since I've read the early books so I may be misremembering.

I've tried to read Written in Red but just can't get into it. I didn't care for her Black Jewels series either so it may just be that the author's writing style doesn't gel with me.

I've recently finished Fortune's Pawn (Paradox, #1) by Rachel Bach , The Other Side of Midnight by Simone St. James , The Diamond Conspiracy (Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences, #4) by Pip Ballantine , and The Warded Man (Demon Cycle, #1) by Peter V. Brett . Now I'm halfway through Bitter Spirits (Roaring Twenties, #1) by Jenn Bennett .

It didn't end on a cliffhanger but she did leave it till the very last minutes to tie it all up.

I enjoy it. It has a lot of the usual steampunk gadgets and it's good, light-hearted fun IMO.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Finally finished Half-Off Ragnarok (InCryptid, #3) by Seanan McGuire hile it was not a bad book there was something missing for me.

I hope the next one is better

Also finished Figure of Speech (Halle Shifters, #4) by Dana Marie Bell it was light and cute

Verity? Haha, but seriously, I think this is why I've put off reading these next two books with Alex until book 5 comes out and Verity returns. That way I can move seamlessly into her POV again without the wait.

Backward Compatible by Sarah Daltry

Is there someone for everyone? Even me?

Time is passing and the Y Generation have now become young adults. During this social period computers and the Internet have become household items, at least in the Upper and Middle classes. Online gaming has now become a subculture complete with language, social activities and dress. The word 'geek' has become more a description of an alternate subculture than a derogatory term. Daltry and Clarke take us on a wacky trip into the world of computer geeks, as they follow the hectic lives of Katie Garretty and George Lindell. Will this young woman and man come together in a sweet romance, or will they be doomed to remain single forever? Does being a computer geek mean you can never have self-respect, or can these young people grow in self-confidence? Will the pair ever battle their way to the end of Fatal Destiny, the game which dominates their young lives? Backward Compatible is a romantic comedy that will entertain those who enjoy reading New Adult or Young Adult fiction.

♥ Ashleigh ♥ Contrary to popular belief I'm not actually mad! (cheshire_red) Took me forever but i managed to read Scotland's Guardians by Katharina Gerlach and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern , pretty sure it took about 2 weeks each to read them :/ they weren't bad i just wasn't really feeling them.

then i moved on to Uglies (Uglies, #1) by Scott Westerfeld , some stuff come up so i couldnt use my kindle which meant i had to change books. I changed to I Hunt Killers (Jasper Dent, #1) by Barry Lyga which was AWESOME!!!! so glad i bought it.
now I'm attempting to read The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss which was highly recommended by a friend of mine.
