Currently Reading? Just Finished? 2015
I just finished Consigned to Death ;
first one in the Josie Prescott series. Josie has moved to New Hampshire from New York to get a fresh start. She is all set to appraise the contents of a house when the owner is murdered and she becomes the prime suspect. The antique business aspect was interesting as were the main characters although I thought Josie became tearful too often. I am planning to look for the second book in this series.

also 4*. Here is my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...Have started
, a collection of short stories, and
on audio.
I finished The Affair by Lee Child. This 16th book in the series goes back to 1997 when Jack Reacher was an army MP. When a young woman is brutally raped and murdered near a military base, Jack is sent to investigate - and hopefully to deflect attention from the army. 3.5 stars.

I love Jack Reacher.I just finished Triptych and highly recommend it. It was scary good. I loved it.
I finished Runner by Patrick Lee last night. This was a buddy read for me and I really enjoyed it. If you like Lee Child's Jack Reacher or Robert Crais's Joe Pike give this Sam Dryden series a try. I have found a new author just what I need, lol. Here is my review:

I also finished The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy which was another good one by Rachel Joyce.

I will be finishing up The Boston Girl by Anita Diamant today. It is about a woman who is born to immigrant parents in Boston in 1900. It is an interesting account of her life and times.
Next up is The Shed That Fed a Million Childrenby Magnus Macfarlane-Barrow. He is the founder of Mary's Meals.

Give Patrick Lee a try:)
My real-world book group starts up again at the end of the month with All the Light We Cannot See so I'm making my way through that book right now. So far, I'm not all that overly impressed, considering this novel won a Pulitzer.

I finally finished All the Light We Cannot See and have very mixed feelings. I'm interested in what you think when you are finished.

Finally finished The Art Forger. Overall an interesting read, especially if you like art related mysteries.

Definitely. It's not one I would have chosen for my book group, but a few people wanted to know if we could read it, so I agreed. I'm only at page 136, but so far it reads like a YA novel set in wartime France. I hope it picks up.

Mary, aside from the book being a little too long for my tastes, it is such a good story!

Glad I'm not the only one disappointed with this one.
Nancy wrote: "My real-world book group starts up again at the end of the month with All the Light We Cannot See so I'm making my way through that book right now. So far, I'm not all that overly..."I enjoyed it but was nowhere near as blown away as I expected to be given the hype it received.
I've just given up on this one at page 670 of 850. Too long and boring detailed. And "In space, sadly, nothing happens."[image error]

I believe she is talking about Seveneves.

Just finished Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None that the group read earlier this year. Loved it. I'm nearly done with what I'm reading now, Whiteout by Ken Follett. While not mind-boggling, so far I'm enjoying Follet's "mystery" side.

I'm only on chapter 4 but so far I really like it:)
I finished Arsenic and Old Books by Miranda James. A set of Civil War era diaries is donated to the library in the town of Athena, Mississippi, which leads to murder and mayhem in this enjoyable cozy. 3 stars. My complete review:

I stayed up late last night to finish Bull Mountain. Some of my friends are less than impressed by Brian Panowich's writing but I found it reminiscent of Elmore Leonard and enjoyed it. My review is Here. I give it a 3.5.

The first line in my review is how I was underwhelmed by it. It had some interesting moments. I think because they were parallel stories except at the end, I felt distanced from the characters. Plus I spent a lot of time anticipating the meeting between the young girl and the German boy and it was very quick and anticlimatic.
I'm currently reading Where All Light Tends to Go. It appears to be well written but I'm having a hard time reaching for it & it's been sitting around for weeks because it's such a downer. I'll add Bull Mountain to my list even though they appear to share similar themes of Southern messed up family and drug and meth trade. Maybe it's less depressing.
I just finished listening to the audio version of 11/22/63 and I really enjoyed it. It is one of my favorite King books and also could be one of my all-time favorite wibbley, wobbley, timey-whimey type books. My review is here.
I've finally finished All the Light We Cannot See. I know I'll be the only nattering nabob of negativity when book group day comes around.

I've finished The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I thought that could be more mysterious, more thrilling. But it's more a study on the human nature and the possibilities of split good and evil. Now I'm reading The Hero of Ages, last chapter of the Mistborn trilogy. I loved the first two and I've good expectations for this.
Same here! I'm wondering what they were smoking when they read it. I read it in February because of all the hype. And, then when I read it, I thought something was really wrong with me... wondering how I could dislike it so much when everyone else "loved it." I gave it 2.5 stars and felt that was pretty generous. I'm glad to see that I'm not alone! Here's my review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
I'll have time to post about it starting tomorrow evening. I am going to start reading The Moor's Account, which was up for the Pulitzer along with Doerr's book.

I liked it, but I found it slow and there was more emotional distance from the characters than I prefer.
I thought a lot of the language was beautiful. That was probably my favorite part. But it was by no means one of my top books of the year.
I was less impressed with All the Light We Cannot See than I expected to be.***
I just finished reading Rick Bragg's new collection of essays on life in the South, My Southern Journey: True Stories from the Heart of the South. I highly recommend reading this one. It's very entertaining.
