Ten years ago, Beatrix Rose headed an off-the-books hit squad to carry out the dirty work of the British government. When she discovered that the commander of the squad was corrupt, he sent five of his assassins to rub her out. But they failed. Bad mistake.
There were six names on Beatrix’s Kill List. Two have been accounted for, and she has number three in her sights. But Bryan Duffy is in Iraq, surrounded by mercenaries, and there’s no easy way for Beatrix to get to him and no easy way to get out.
Strap in for Book Two of Mark Dawson’s heart-stopping, bestselling Beatrix Rose trilogy.
Mark Dawson has created a great lead female character, with a really powerful story through the trilogy of books. You understand Beatrice Rose's thought and her personality.
At 224 pages Mark Dawson knows how to get straight into the action and the story builds so quickly and at a fast paced all the way through.
Really enjoy his books, great detail, great characters, great story, action and tension and reality behind the characters.
I highly recommend these books, if you want a fast paced quick read.
Now starting number 3 in the trilogy and last one, then will start on his other character John Milton.
I just finished Ronda Rousey's book My Fight/Your Fight. Excellent read! I love her in the ring and outside of the ring. In my opinion, she's a great role model (the book does contain lots of expletives FYI). Rousey doesn't let people get her down and she fights for what she wants, which is something I believe that everyone, especially young girls, should do! She's a motivator and is changing the world. This book delves into her personal life and why she fights as well as insight into her mindset while she's in the ring.
Well written and powerful! Love her!

More Guns N Roses, for me. I do like McCartney's version though, a lot.

Currently listening to The Drop by Dennis Lehane. Loved his Kenzie / Gennaro series set in Boston and this is along the same lines.
For something completely opposite, I'm reading Murder Offstage: A Posie Parker Mystery by L. B. Hathaway. Light, funny, set in 1920s London. Fans of the golden age of crime and Agatha Christie would enjoy it.

I finished The Dark Vineyard by Martin Walker.Multi-talented Police Chief Bruno Correges of Saint-Denis, France investigates arson and odd deaths in the lovely French countryside. 3.5 stars.

I just finished Hope to Die by James Patterson. Here is my review http://e135-abookaweek.blogspot.com/2... Now I'm working on Fortune Smiles by Pulitzer Prize winning author Adam Johnson.
Beatrice Rose number 3 and final part of this amazing trilogy of books.
Beatrix Rose has worked her way through her Kill List. Four are dead and just two remain. But now her enemies know she has them in her sights. The hunter becomes the hunted.
In a thrilling conclusion to the breakneck trilogy, Beatrix and her daughter must fight them in North Africa, New York and finally in the swamps of North Carolina. It's a lightning-paced roller-coaster of action that pits a deadly assassin against the might of the most powerful private army on the planet.
It's long odds for Beatrix. And that's just how she likes it.
Okay what can I say about this book... Everything.
One, one of the best books I have read, a great conclusion to the trilogy of three books, great writing, riveting action, a powerful and heartwarming story, that got stronger which each book with Beatrice's relationship with her daughter.
How the three books came together with the conclusion, which was so good, so exciting, so touching, great powerful tension, action and sadness.
Will this book's comclusion start a new series of books, I wonder?
All I can say to you my friend, is read these books, please!
I will be shortly be reading his other series with another great character John Milton.
My heart was pounding with excitiment when finishing the last few chapters of this book !
Read this books, well and the first two !!
Read this book in two days !
I'm halfway through Antidote to Venom: A British Crime Classic by Freeman Wills Croft. It's an example of the "inverted detective novel" where you know the who, and you have to wait out the detective on getting to the answer. It's part of Poisoned Pen's British Library Crime Classics series.

I really like the looks of this re-release series of classic mysteries. If my library does not get them soon I'll just have to buy some.

That wine part sounds good!

The Fifth Gospel by Ian Caldwell."Enjoyed this and his first with Dustin Thomason, The Rule of Four. I bet you also read that. Neither move at thriller pace but steeped in historical info.
I've finished Antidote to Venom: A British Crime Classic, by Freeman Wills Croft. It's part of the British Library Crime Classics series put out by Poisoned Pen Press, and is definitely not your typical British Scotland Yard type story. If you're into old vintage crime, this is a good one.
I've never heard of these books, but you make them sound so exciting! I'll put them on my to read list.
I'm listening to James Lee Burke's A feast for Fools. Always enjoy his writing and these characters are so interesting.

I was rummaging around the bookcase and I found The Death of an Irish Sea Wolf by Bartholomew Gill. Very, very good so far, both the plot and the description of the island and really holding my attention.
Brenda wrote: "Justin wrote: "Check out my review for more, but The Girl on the Train is all hype. I think people just wanted another Gone Girl and latched onto this one. You're not missing out by not reading it...."Thank you Brenda.
I'm reading a book that I received for Christmas: The Rome Prophecy. This is the second book of a series, but fortunately there are few references to the first, it's an independent story. Till now, is interesting and easy to read.
Donna wrote: "I was rummaging around the bookcase and I found The Death of an Irish Sea Wolf by Bartholomew Gill. I am currently reading In the Woods by Tana French which was a group read a few years back, before I joined GR
Donna wrote: "I was rummaging around the bookcase and I found The Death of an Irish Sea Wolf by Bartholomew Gill. Very, very good so far, both the plot and the description of the is..."I read and enjoyed that many years ago but never found any other books by the author to read.
Have just finished reading The luminaries by Elizabeth catton and well am not sure about it, I can tell its well written and she can write but I felt like I was being hit repeatedly again and again with the book I felt she was trying too hard to make the book feel like a Victorian gothic mystery but I felt it lost its way in the description which to me ended up like fluff. soo not certain about it.

At its heart it is a love story (although very atypical), and she uses the frame of an old-fashioned mystery/adventure story to get to her main ideas. But what really intrigued me about that novel was the structure itself.

Okay here some books i have got readMoonlight Becomes You by Mary Higgins Clark One of MHC older books I though i read it before but I couldnt remember it so I decide to read it and I never read it. I really loved it.
The Bodies Left Behind by Jeffery Deaver Okay of a read but not my fav from him
14th Deadly Sin by James Patterson Really loved this one IMO it was better then his 13.
The Last Victim by Karen Robards I liked it but it was kind of Weird but I am going try to read this whole series
Compulsion by Allison Brennan I Loved this book! Cant wait to read more of this series!
I just finished Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits
by David Wong. I haven't read any of this author's books before but John Dies at the End comes highly recommended so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did. Wow! This book is a total adrenaline rush!https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
just finished the lie by C.L.Taylor and it was really good now decision time for me next read got a short list of 4 to choose from
Today I've finished The Rome Prophecy. Nice story, with descriptions of the main places of the city, and some less known, and some historical informations.
I've read The War Reporter: A Novel by Martin Fletcher (out in October). Not my cuppa by any stretch of the imagination. It's part thriller (which doesn't pan out), part romance (which overrides any possible chills the thriller aspect might bring out), and partly gets into international politics and war reportage re Bosnia (those parts are good).
It did however, get several really good reader reviews so once again it's me being picky, I'm sure. If anyone wants my ARC copy, it's yours (as long as you're in the US). Someone please take it.

Now reading Trapped by J.A. Konrath and the newest Michael Bennett, Alert by James Patterson, both good so far.
Finished while on vacation: Gathering Prey by John Sandford, excellent 5 stars, Scents and Sensibility by Spencer Quinn, just an average 3 stars, Bones on Ice by Kathy Reichs, loved it 5 stars, and Stranglehold by Jack Ketchum, 3 stars because I really didn't care for the content (explicit sex, rape and child molestation) but the writing itself was terrific.

Just starting two books; The Palace Tiger by Barbara Cleverly, the 4th Joe Sandilands historical mystery and The Sleeping Doll by Jeffery Deaver, the 1st Kathryn Dance thriller.
Patricia wrote: "I am definitely going to finish The Girl On The Train so I can add my official opinion. Does anyone know what book is being touted now by the public relations people? Look at the money [book:Fift..."It made money but it was one of the most poorly written, uninteresting books, with the stupidest characters I ever seen. Go figure
Just finished
Nemesis by Jo Nesbø, a Harry Hole novel. Not the best one of the series, but, still, a good read. Will keep on with the series.Next up, though, is
In Plain Sight by C.J. Box, a Joe Pickett novel. This will by my first reading of a C.J. Box book. For about a month, I've kept finding references to him on this and other book sites. When that happens, and someone personally recommends him, I try to locate a book by him and try it out. So far, In Plain Sight is looking like a good one, but, I'm not very far into it, as of yet. But, even after just a few pages, it looks like he is a good writer. His protagonist, Joe Pickett, is a Wyoming game warden. So, the similarity to the Walt Longmire books by Craig Johnson will be hard to overlook. But, I will endeavor to evaluate In Plain Sight on it's own merits.
I'm reading wool by Hugh Howey and so far it's bloody brilliant, I'm shattered because I couldn't put it down last night
I've started The Final EmpireThe Final Empire, first book of the series. This is a great fantasy, with funny dialogues and interesting concepts.
Just finished
Nemesis by Jo Nesbø, a Harry Hole novel. Not my favorite of the series, but, still a good book and a good read.Next up,
Still Life by Louise Penny, a Chief Inspector Gamache novel. Not read any of this series, so, I approach it with guarded enthusiasm. Have heard a lot about Ms. Penny and need to find out for myself.
I'm reading The Final Empire. I read many enthusiastic comments about it and I would like to read this series.

Hitting upon another project of mine. Reading as many of the James Bond series by Ian Fleming.
Does anybody else immediately think of Paul McCartney when the book, or movie, Live and Let Die is mentioned?
