I loved MitGoGaE!
I have the other two on my TBR list and I think The Teleportation Accident sounds hilarious!

I am glad I do not have a book store within walking distance!!!!!

Sarah | 18550 comments Just bought Maidens' Trip: A Wartime Adventure on the Grand Union Canal which is a non fiction book about the women who worked on canal boats during WWII. If my other books don't work out for the June monthly challenge, I'll read this instead.

I found them all for $1 each so I was happy! I think I might get to The Teleportation Accident after I finish The Bees

message 555: by Tasha (last edited May 29, 2015 04:11AM) (new)

Tasha I'd love to hear what you think about Teleportation once you finish. It's been on my radar for a while.

I got my box of books from BetterWorldBooks yesterday. It was so much fun opening the box and seeing the books. I forgot a few of the books I had ordered so it was a nice surprise.

I still have another shipment coming from them with these 2 to kill off a level in the series challenge:

Enemy of God (The Warlord Chronicles, #2) by Bernard Cornwell Excalibur (Os Senhores da Guerra, #3) by Bernard Cornwell

These are the newer covers which I hope I get but I think they will be the older covers.

message 556: by Samantha A (new)

Samantha A I ended up at the thrift store today...

The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes (hardcover)
The Cuckoo's Calling by Robert Galbraith/JK Rowling (hardcover)
Some Prefer Nettles by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki (paperback)

CFDeeDee I wanna buy something new :'(
But I have to wait till my books arrive by the mail so I can buy something different !!
And so I can post saying "My brand new books just arrived" :P

message 558: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60117 comments I used up all my credits at Audible and got:

Hunted
Finders Keepers

Then, when I went to my library, I got a surprise sale - my choice of selected audiobooks for $4.95. I got Stone of Tymora: Forgotten Realms

message 559: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly | 2033 comments Darren bought me these yesterday from Value Village:

The Complete Illustrated Works by Lewis Carroll and The Rebellion Mysteries Turncoat, Solemn Vows, Vital Secrets by Don Gutteridge

message 560: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11316 comments I got Slaughter House 5 and Robinson Crusoe in a yard sale yesterday.

message 561: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60117 comments I went to the library today and couldn't walk past the books for sale without taking a peek. I ended up parting with $1.00 in exchange for The Island of Eternal Love. I'm afraid I was lured in by the cover:

The Island of Eternal Love by Daina Chaviano

I think the second book is in the books shops already

Do You read Portugese?

message 564: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Not until 2016, Mariab.

Mariab | 3059 comments Sandra wrote: "I got Slaughter House 5 and Robinson Crusoe in a yard sale yesterday."

Slaughterhouse 5 is a hard one, albeit very good (5* to me)

message 566: by Tasha (new)

Tasha No, I don't Mariab. :)

message 567: by Mariab (new)

Mariab | 3059 comments @Tasha. I only asked because one of the books you recently posted as new acquisition is in Portuguese, and so I was wondering...

message 568: by Tasha (new)

Tasha haha! I see now, I remember posting that cover and realizing later it was a book in portugese. I was going to change it but then thought it wouldn't get noticed! At least I know it was looked at now. ;)

You can't get away with anything around here. LOL!

message 571: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I suppose I better go pick up Wolves of the Calla before Janice leaves me in the dust.

message 572: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 60117 comments Is that possible, Travis? You listen at 2x speed. I listen at 1.25x.

I bought The Hot Rock on kindle and audiobook through the whispersync deal. This is my first toppler acquisition. Already kicked the "must be books I already own" rule to the curb. I guess if I impose it on myself, I can break it.

message 573: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19222 comments I bought some books. I'm hiding them. So shhhh, don't tell anyone else.

Havana Blue and The Summer of Dead Toys

It happened to me once when I added Seraphina and a couple of hours later a GR friends asked me if I had noticed that this one was the Russian version... I never noticed! I just loved the cover!

message 575: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11316 comments @Mariab, that's exactly what my daughter told me. She read it a few months ago.

You are your own master!!

message 577: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I noticed too that for some reason for some books the first link is not the English one.

I bought The Chronicles of Narnia secondhand through a facebook group where I bought and sold books before, but I'm afraid I've been cheated on. It should have been sent over a week ago and take only a day to reach me, but I haven't received anything yet and the guy I bought it from is not very responsive to my questions.

message 578: by Tasha (new)

Tasha So I'm not the only one, Sandra? ;) Good to know! The covers I ended up getting for those 2 books were different which I did expect but hoped against.

message 579: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Just in case I didn't have enough books to be going on with, I bought two more:

I need to do that too. De-clutter is going to be the theme for me.

We have done it for three years now and it worked perfectly. The kids love it.
They get another prize before school resumes if they read more than the previous summer. It's not individual, it's a team project. We call it our summer reading project.
