Lára | 175 comments As for this years "real" (read only what´s of real interest to you) goal, I´m done.
101/36 - "94 books ahead of schedule"

It´s only March and I´m already done, so instead of increasing my "goal" (it´s completed anyhow), I´m just going to pretend I haven´t read any manga at all.
With this in mind, I´m ... hmm 20/36 done

Claire (clairescragglepine) | 8 comments My goal this year on goodreads is 26 (twice what I read last year), but I am also working on the popsugar reading challenge, so I guess my goal would really be 52.

Karen M | 418 comments Too far behind

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I was ridiculously behind but slowly catching up since my reading has picked up (Thankfully)

message 55: by Lára (new)

Lára | 175 comments 26/36! I´m progressing and not even counting manga, comics. ^^
I´ve yet to read some new books tho

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) only one behind now - woot!

message 57: by Hazel (new)

Hazel (gator2u) My goal is 75, will probably adjust later.

message 58: by Kirstie (new)

Kirstie Ellen (kirstieellen) I've read 19/55 so far...so I'm about 2 or 3 ahead. I think I'm going to fall behind soon enough though :s

message 59: by Eric (new)

Eric Mesa (djotaku) | 63 comments Thanks to audiobooks and Winter in the NE USA being more boring than the Spring and Summer, I'm at 24/30 or 15 books ahead. Which is good because I'm starting to do more and more outdoors stuff (both for myself since I work in an office and for my daughter to get outdoors time). I expect reading to potentially slow.

message 60: by Lára (last edited Jun 04, 2015 02:27AM) (new)

Lára | 175 comments Just sorted books that aren´t comics or mangas (not counting them) in a folder and I´ve read 30 books. My challenge is 36 books :)

message 61: by Lin (new)

Lin | 266 comments My goal fir 2015 is 120 books. May need to adjust that a bit I have finished 92 already.

I think I might have to adjust my goal, too, but in the other direction. We're halfway through the year and I'm only 37% finished, 28 books behind schedule. I should be at least at 50% done by now, but at this pace I don't think I'm going to reach 332 books by the end of the year. Might have to shrink my goal. Think I should do it now, or maybe wait and see where I'm at more around September, 75% through the year?

message 63: by Lin (new)

Lin | 266 comments You want it to be a challenge but not so stressful that it takes away from the joy and pleasure of reading

message 64: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shananigansreads) | 355 comments Joseph wrote: "Think I should do it now, or maybe wait and see where I'm at more around September, 75% through the year? "

I'd wait a bit. 75% sounds good to me.

I was 19 books ahead but the book I'm reading now has really dragged me back. But I'm at 73 of 125 so I won't complain.

message 65: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 418 comments I lowered my goal to 100 (from 125). I've read 49 so far this year. I want to do a re-read of Make Way for Lucia which is over 1100 pages but that won't happen until I hit my goal, hence, I cheated and lowered my goal.

message 66: by Joy (new)

Joy I originally was gonna only shoot for 50 this year, but I've been consistently 5-7 books ahead all year, so upped it to 60.... I'm still ahead, but not as pressured, which is awesome.

message 67: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (breezy259) | 11 comments Add Flash Point by Brooke Blaine to your reading list if you haven't already. It's one of the best books I've read this year! Flash Point by Brooke Blaine

message 68: by Taylor (new)

Taylor I've been three or four books ahead for most of the year. If I can maintain that, I can finish the year off with some chunky novels.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I was ahead and doing well but now a few behind. This happens in the summer because my reading always slows down in June and July

message 70: by Lin (new)

Lin | 266 comments I need to revise my goal of 120 books. I have read 119 so far and about one hour from finishing #120. Can't decide what I should increase it to. That is my dilemma.

message 71: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 418 comments I've read 68 out of 100. I'm a bit ahead for the moment.

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 1866 comments Mod
I'm not thrilled with my progress. It's not the end of the world, of course, but having read 199 books so far, I'm only at 60% finished with 4 months to go, so I think I am going to shrink my goal from 332 to 275, so that puts me at 72% finished then. I think I have a pretty good chance of reaching my goal now. Time will tell. :-)

message 73: by Louise (new)

Louise | 280 comments Sounds reasonable Joseph, I made a somewhat modest goal of 130, which I've reached, so now I can finish the remaining 2 challenges and read by whim :-)

message 74: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (herbtiff) I finished my goal, but it was a very small number. I think I may increase it, but as it took me 9 months to read the few that I did I am not sure what I should raise it to. Or just see where this year takes me and try to push myself next year...

message 75: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 411 comments I lowered my goal to 50. I've read 23

message 76: by Laura (new)

Laura | 55 comments I recently increased my goal by five books from 90 to 95. I'm still ahead.

message 77: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shananigansreads) | 355 comments How do you guys count DNFs?

Normally I count them because I tried to read them but then I increase my total by that amount. So if I DNF'd 5 books I'd increase my total from 90 to 95.

I usually will mark it as read but clear the dates in the review section so that it doesn't count towards my challenge seeing as I didn't read it in full.

I don't count DNFs. I change them from my Currently-reading shelf to my exclusive Started-but-could-not-finish shelf. Maybe one day I might go back and give them another try. If I do and then finish them, then I'll count it toward my reading challenge. But that's just my way.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) I don't count DNF's

message 81: by Laura (new)

Laura | 55 comments I generally don't do DNFs.

message 82: by Thom (new)

Thom Swennes (Yorrick) | 592 comments I am a tenacious reader and finish everything I start. It has happened, on occasion, that I put a book away and pick it up later. This sometimes helps by reading in another mood and from another perspective.

message 83: by K (new)

K | 286 comments I set my challenge at 45 and didn't think I'd make it, as I went through a marriage break up this year. But I now just finished my 55th book! Lol, saw to say I bounced back with a vengeance!

I just reached my goal of 275 books! And still a month and half to go in the year. Maybe I can hit 300. :-)

message 85: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shananigansreads) | 355 comments Good job on completing your goals Kiera and Joseph!

I have 4 more books to read before I reach my goal. I have 3 going right now so I should make it just fine.

Mariel (TheCrownedGoddessReads) (marieru) | 88 comments I completed my goal 6 books ago! I hope to add at least 15 more.

@Kiera Yeahhh! Our love for reading can get us through anything, good books are a balm.

@Shannon I just count finished books.

message 87: by Karen M (new)

Karen M | 418 comments I'm at 94%. 94/100
8 ahead.

message 88: by Joy (new)

Joy My original goal was 50 which I hit in August, so I raised it to 60, Which I've also reached, so went for 75.... I just hit 80!! I totally underestimated myself and how much I could get done this year! Now I'm unofficially shooting for 85. We'll see how this ends up.

message 89: by Michael (new)

Michael I'll shoot for 52. One a week. Slow and steady.

message 90: by Tiffany (new)

Tiffany (herbtiff) I finished my goal. Super happy because the last few years it has been the 11th hour before I finished.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Finished my goal. 9 above it right now.

message 92: by Laura (new)

Laura | 55 comments I'm two books away, so I will definitely reach my goal and few above it.

message 93: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (shananigansreads) | 355 comments Despite November being a horrible month, reading wise, for me (I only read 476 pages) I did complete my challenge. I hope December brings books that hold my attention and don't let go, plus actual time to read.

Guess what? I just hit 300 with still a couple of weeks left to go. I'm wondering if I can pull off another 25 before year's end. Time will tell. :-)

message 95: by Bridgette (new)

Bridgette | 36 comments I have reached mine I may raise it by 5 books but im not sure at the moment I will see how many books I can read by the end of the year

message 96: by Evelyn (new)

Evelyn | 1 comments I won't do musts anymore just want to do. I'm a bibliophile from birth. I love reading dictionaries and finding a word I'm not familiar with is Christmas!
Unfortunately, eyesight problem has made reading prolonged periods of printed material too tiring. My iPad now is my main library; I now buy mainly ebooks. Pass the Kleenex. Grateful I can read.
Average only 6-8 books per month due to time constraints. I like to read fiction, nonfiction, history, historical fiction and so on at the same time, unless I get caught up in a real winner. Only type of book I'll not read is Romance.
Definitely a hard core bibliophile, logophile.

Joseph (bluemanticore) | 1866 comments Mod
I have to laugh at where I am Challenge-wise right now. At the beginning of the year, I set my goal at 332. I figured with looking back at the last four years' challenges, I've averaged about 28 books a month, so multiplying that by 12 months gave me the number 332.

Then in August, I wasn't so confident I would reach my goal. I was only at 60% finished with 4 months to go, so I changed my goal from 332 to 275.

In November, I reached that goal of 275 books. On December 5th, I hit 300. And today, the 30th of December, with one day left to go, I just read my 332nd book! I reached my original goal with a whole day left in the year to read! I really should have more faith in myself. ;-)

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* (erinpaperbackstash) Joseph, way to go :) that's an amazing number to reach every year.
