The first time I saw her, I knew I’d have to kill her.

It’s been five years since the brutal death of her mother, and Katherine Shaw still relives the nightmares of that night.
She escaped.
The danger should’ve been over.
She couldn’t have been more wrong.
When her father, a prominent judge, receives a chilling death threat, her past comes hurtling into her present.
The warning is clear: They’ve got unfinished business, and they’re coming for her.

Katherine Shaw.
Rich girl? Check.
Spoiled and obstinate? Check.
A beautiful fireball who pushes every button he has? That was not listed on the dossier Jason Garrett receives when he’s assigned as one of her bodyguards. The last thing he ever expected was that his tempting client would prove to be more dangerous than those he’s protecting her from.

Their attraction would be forbidden even under the best circumstances. But as the threat draws near, the tension between the two of them rises, culminating in an explosive flash point that will blindside them both.

He'd made a decision tonight. One that would ignite the world around him, but he was willing to scorch it to the ground to get what he wanted.

So here's the thing, when it comes to my romantic suspense, I'm one picky girl. It's the first genre that originally got me into reading and I read a lot of it. So suffice it to say it takes quite a bit to impress me. What? I said I was picky. Having had a bit of a taste of Brooke Blaine's awesome in A Desperate Man: Volume 1 that she co-wrote with Ella Frank, I already had a feeling that her own debut would rock my world, and I wasn't even a little bit wrong. I freaking loved this book! Suspenseful, sexy, and with twists and turns that will leave your mind reeling, this book kept me up well into the night because I couldn't put it down.
He always asked her what she wanted, but it was never clearer than now. This. Him. That was what she wanted.

Have you ever read about a character that felt so alive in your head he practically jumped off the pages? That's how you know the true talent of an author, when she's able to accomplish this with her MCs. And let me just tell you, if Jason was that character for me. You could hear his voice and feel his intensity from the very first page. Man but I gobbled that up.

Katherine Shaw witnessed the brutal murder of her mother five years ago. Powerless and unable to do anything but watch, she's still dealing with the nightmares of that night. Having the killers responsible never been caught certainly doesn't make her sleep any better. But now it seems like the threat is back and this time they're after her and they won't stop until she suffers the fate she was meant to along with her mother.

Jason Garrett is a bodyguard and part of the team hired by Katherine's father to protect her. Intense would be an understatement for what he is. He lives, breathes and sleeps his job. Just because the little spitfire that is his client is determined to seduce him doesn't mean he'll lose sight of what he was hired to do and succumb to her advances.
It was the first rule in the handbook: "Thou shalt not have fucking relations with a client, current of former."

Katherine was a badass in her own right. It's not often you meet a heroine that's not shy about going after what she wants but doesn't come off as brash while doing it. Katherine was no wilting wallflower, that's for damn sure. The girl was determined to get Jason in her bed and she went at him with all the arsenal she had. Have to respect her game.
She cried out his name and dug her nails into his back as he held her close, her body bucking, and pleasure, vicious and exhilarating, tore through her.

After finishing Flash Point I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Brooke Blaine has definitely got a new fan in me. I can't wait to see what else the woman has up her sleeve with her future books.

My only minor quibble with the story was the ending. There was a few things that I was left to assume (which I'm thinking the author may have done on purpose), but I guess I'm one of those readers that needs it spelled out. There were a few things that took place that I just needed more detail for and explanation. It left several questions in my head, but maybe that's not a bad thing since I'm still thinking about it. The book ends on a However, for a romantic suspense, the ending did justice to the kind of story it was. I don't think it would have been as believable had it ended any other way. If you're on the fence about reading it, I highly recommend you do. You won't be sorry. If sexy romantic suspense is your cuppa, this is definitely a must read. Cleverly written, packed with humor and action, and unpredictable until the very end, Flash Point was one hell of a debut from the fabulous Brooke Blaine.

As one half of the dynamic duo that brought us The Desperate Man Series, Brooke Blaine is an author that definitely piqued my interest. And if the prospect of reading her solo works was in any doubt, she hits us with a blurb that ensures those doubts are cast away.

The story centers on Katherine, a twenty three year old student who is haunted by the horrific murder of her mother fives year prior. Still suffering with nightmares from the traumatic event, it seems they are to once again become reality.

"It was the first rule in the handbook: "Thou shalt not have fucking relations with a client, current of former."

Jason is part of a team tasked by Katherine’s father to protect her. Although he may be a man of few words, he more than makes up for this in character. As the situation becomes increasingly tense, his sense of duty becomes one of need and the lines of professionalism become blurred. It's with noting that although Katherine maybe the victim, she is neither shy or retiring, in fact she's rather outspoken when it comes to getting what she wants.

Flash Point is a story that oozes suspense, tension and a whole lot of intrigue. Combine this with mystery and oodles of sexual chemistry and you have the makings of an explosive read.

Debut novel or no, Brooke Blaine definitely has my attention. She has erotic romance and suspense down pat and I’m more than looking forward to what she’ll do next.

This one is special for me because this author is something else and remember her name because you'll hear A LOT about her for sure.

The very FIRST time I read a review on GRs it was one of Brooke's reviews. It was about a book I absolutely loved and I thought her review was even better than the book. I created an account on GRs only to stalk her, no joke and then we became cyber friends.

I cannot tell you how happy I am that she published her first solo book (some of you might know her because she also co writes with Ella Frank). I enjoyed this one and I know Brooke will give me way more good reads in the future.

Don't you just love it when a guy hardly ever talks but oozes sex from every pore of his body?? Well, i do! So, Jason Garrett is practically my soulmate...

(btw that's me and Jason - aka my soulmate - dancing in the woods...)

Katherine Shaw has been through a lot in the past five years. She watched her mother being brutally murdered in her own home and she's lived with survivor guild the whole time. Now, her past is catching up with her as there are new threats against her life from the same people who murdered her mother. So, her father hires some bodyguards to protect him and his daughter but Katherine refuses to leave her life and college courses behind and move back to her childhood home, a place where her worst nightmare took place. The only way she would agree to be around her bodyguards is for them to come with her on campus instead of her moving back into her father's house. And that's exactly what happens.

Kirkpatrick and Garrett are her assigned bodyguards and they move with her in campus. They become her shadow and are with her 24/7. At first Katherine was acting like a spoiled little brat, just to get on their nerves, but she soon realizes that being around both of them is not such a bad thing, especially around Garrett.

Jason Garrett is your typical no-bullshit-bodyguard type, with his black suits and body to die for. He is an ex Navy-Seal after all. The chemistry between them is definitely there, and of course off the charts, and their banter was pretty witty.

"Trust me I'm not old enough to father a brat like you."
"Ohhh, touche. So how old are you? Forty? Forty-five?"
-He stopped. "Are you serious?"
"Okay... thirty-five? Twenty-nine? I only started older because guys seem to get better looking with age, which is super unfair, and--" She caught herself and bit her lip. "Not that you're attractive or anything."
Shaking his head he said. "First, i look like your dad, and now I'm an attractive old guy? No wonder you're socially awkward."

I especially enjoyed the scene when Kirkpatrick lost a bet to Katherine and he had to walk around campus with her dressed as some kind o Hello Kitty superhero. LMAO!

What i enjoyed most about this book was the off the charts sexual tension. I'm not really into books with sex scene, after sex scene, after sex scene... The anticipation is a hundred times better for me especially if the MCs share a fair amount of connection and chemistry. And of course with Flash Point you get a lot of suspense and action on the side, besides romance, which is an added and welcomed bonus!

Katherine's mom was killed five years ago - and Katherine saw it all happen.
Her Dad's an important judge in Atlanta, and to keep her safe, he sent her to live with her aunt in London for a while. But now she's back - at college. Getting a business degree - so not what she wants (Art) and not what her Dad wants either (Law).
When new threats against her life are being made, the judge hires a team of bodyguards to guard Katherine's body ☺

Enter JASON GARRETT

description

former Navy SEAL - turned bodyguard.

Jason and his colleague Kirkpatrick move into an apartment with Katherine - because she can't stand to live in her Dad's house - the house where her mom was killed - and because she wants to be closer to college.
And of course - being that close to an incredibly hot ex-SEAL 24/7 is turning her on A LOT!!!
And Jason doesn't seem immune to her hotness either...but he tries to stay strong... ☺

Let's guess how long that will last? ☺

While we hear about the story from both Katherine's and Jason's POV, we also get to hear a few lines from the bad guy here and there.

Lots of funny, suspensy moments will happen until we get to find out how the story will end for our darlings☺

WHAT WiLL HAPPEN TO JASON & KAT????
WiLL THERE BE A HAPPY EVER AFTER FOR THOSE TWO?
OR WiLL EVERYBODY DiE???
WiLL THERE BE A CLiFFHANGER???

description

NOPE . . .
I'm not telling you ☺

description

psssst - no Ciffy - it's a standalone romance ..

I really enjoyed the book.

It was a really cute and fast-paced romantic suspense story.

Katherine is still totally scared and scarred on the inside from what happened to her mom - but she tries to hide it with jokes and sexual innuendos ☺
But Jason gets to know her pretty fast - his first impression of her was totally wrong though ☺
Kat keeps those poor bodyguards on their toes every minute of the day - and night!

I don't want to give away too much - but there will be some tiny little whoa-moments towards the end ☺☺☺

FLASH POINT was a really great and funny romantic suspense .... GO AND BUY IT - I bet you'll want Jason to guard your body too!!!! ☺☺☺

It was the first rule in the handbook: “Thou shalt not have fucking relations with a client, current or former”.

4 Fun, Romantic Suspense Stars

This is the first solo novel by Brooke Blaine, and I am really impressed! She has given us a book which is suspenseful and intense, with a forbidden romance that is chemistry-filled and passionate (with epic banter and UST), and it’s so freaking funny! I laughed out loud so many times reading this book. It’s an exciting, highly entertaining, fun read and I really enjoyed it.

Katherine Shaw’s life was forever changed when her mother was brutally murdered in front of her. Five years later, Katherine is a 22 year old college student and still suffers nightmares and the occasional panic attack, and when her father, a prominent judge, receives a chilling death threat, the danger of her past is very much alive again. Her father hires security to protect his stubborn, sassy daughter, and she is moved into an apartment with two bodyguards that will shadow her 24/7. And that is how Jason Garrett comes into her life.

An ex-Navy SEAL, Garrett is a total badass. Seemingly cold and ruthless, he brushes Katherine off as a spoiled little rich girl. Their initial interactions are filled with snark - Katherine doesn’t want a bodyguard, and he doesn’t think much of his new client.

“Do I look like I couldn’t break someone with my bare hands?”
“That would be useful, since that’s what you’re getting paid for.”
Leaning in close, he said, “With all due respect, Miss Shaw, if you could thaw out the ice queen, that would be fucking perfect.”

But they share a wicked attraction, and even though Jason doesn’t acknowledge it, Katherine lives to taunt him, and she pushes every button she can.

“So…you never told me your first name,” she said.
“No, I didn’t.”
“Well, that’s rude. I thought we just had a moment there, Jason.”
He stopped in his tracks, and she burst out in victorious laughter.

She pushes him, he pushes back, and as Katherine tries to deal with her situation, she starts to open up to him and Jason begins to see her as she really is – a scared girl who is pretty much alone and doing her best to overcome her past. They become friends, of sorts, with the added complication of their mad attraction to each other, and their chemistry is absolutely electric!

He opened his mouth and then closed it again, shaking his head. “You are…unexpected,” he said, finally.
With those three words, the burn in her chest exploded, filling her cheeks with heat and spreading through her body.
Unexpected. She could work with that.

The UST between them underlies every single interaction, and the closer they get, the more comfortable they feel with each other. They banter and flirt constantly, and it’s so blatant and explicit, you can’t help but laugh.

“Not bad, Shaw, not bad. I think you’re depriving yourself by getting mushrooms instead of sausage, but that’s why I got my own.”
She gaped at him. “I know I did not just hear the impenetrable, humorless Jason Garrett tell me I need to eat more sausage.”
“I think you’d be more pleasant with a sausage in your mouth, yes.”
“Holy fuck.”

The tension sizzles brilliantly, and even though a relationship between them is entirely forbidden, there is only so long they can hold out. And OMG, I loved every moment of it! Katherine and Jason’s relationship builds slowly, and the banter and flirting is hilarious and totally hot. There’s not a lot of sex, but what is there is (eventually) steamy and incredibly passionate, and with the story told in dual POV, we get to watch them both falling for each other – Katherine fighting to get her man, and Jason fighting a losing battle to stay away from her.

“You can touch me.”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea.”
“Maybe not. Do it anyway.”

But Katherine’s life is still in danger, and the threat is getting ever closer. There are some chilling scenes from the POV of the bad guy which add some nice intensity, and the mystery/suspense storyline builds fantastically to a violent and shocking ending that I never saw coming.

I really enjoyed this book. The story moves at a great pace and kept me interested the whole way through. The romance blends really nicely with the unfolding mystery, with lots of laughs and moments of intensity along the way, and the suspense builds with some great twists to keep the reader guessing. Brooke Blaine has done a fantastic job pulling together the different elements of her story to give us a coherent, hugely entertaining read, and finishes it off with a very satisfying ending. I loved it, and am looking forward to more from this author.

4 stars.

Flash Point by Brooke Blaine
4.5 stars!!

“It was the first rule in the handbook: “Thou shalt not have fucking relations with a client, current or former.”

Well, where do I start…this book was a romantic suspense, while I have experienced Brooke Blaine’s writing before with The Desperate Man series that she co-authored with Ella Frank, this is Brooke Blaine’s debut novel, written solely and exclusively by herself, however, you would never know by reading it. This book was well though out, well developed, with some amazing twists that I never saw coming, it read accomplished and it was so addictive, I couldn’t put it down.

Katherine was at Uni having just had a year off visiting relatives in the UK, she needed to get away from it all. Her dad was a judge and had dealt with some high profile cases, none more so than the one that led to the death of his wife and the death that Katherine witnessed first hand. Katherine is plagued by nightmares of that night, having felt so defenceless and helpless and knowing that her mother died trying to save her from the same fate. This incident also led to the demise of her relationship with her father so she seemingly lost both parents that night. So when it comes to the culprits having their time in court, old memories are dredged up and with the death penalty on the table, revenge is the name of the game.

“…and since you regret so much that it was her they killed instead of me, let me assure you…I feel the same way about you.”

Katherine’s life is now in danger once again and now she needs 24/7 protection, something that she is hesitant to have and fights against. However, they manage to compromise and she can still stay at Uni as long as she keeps at least one of her two bodyguards with her at all times.

Jason is one of Katherine’s two bodyguards and he is a bit of an enigma himself, on first meeting he is quiet, reserved, professional and extremely guarded, however Katherine finds herself attracted to that side of him. Trying to get him to crack at least a smile became her mission on a daily basis, even to get him to talk would be a good thing. Jason though was stoically professional, he went by the letter of the law and his sole focus was to keep Katherine safe and alive. He wouldn’t deviate from his mission, having been in the SEAL’s he was a consummate professional, but even the hardest shells can be cracked?

“Katherine was a temptation he didn’t need and a distraction he couldn’t afford.”

Katherine wanted Jason in her bed, she hadn’t felt a connection to a man in a long time and she couldn’t hide her feelings around him, she used everything in her power to get him to crack, but he was a stubborn devil. The chemistry that these two had was off the charts and the slow build up in their friendship and relationship had you totally invested in these two characters. This is testament to Brooke Blaine’s writing as it is hard to get that across in words, but you felt as if these characters were your friends and you were privy to and living the awful situation that they found themselves in.

“She was his every fantasy come true, one he hadn’t even allowed himself to consider before, and now that he’d tasted her, he couldn’t get her out of his mind.”

The build up to this story will have you on the edge of your seat, with threats coming from all sides and with Katherine’s ballsy attitude at times leading her to make some stupid decisions, but at the end of the day it is this build up that will have your jaw dropping when the mother of all twists is delivered. I have to say I did not see it coming and actually had to re-read it to make sure I did actually read what I thought I had read. This was genius from the author…it worked, really, really well.

My only niggle is as usual, I wanted more at the end, while this book ended in a good place, it was really just the beginning of another episode of their lives. I am hoping that their story is continued going forward as I would love to see what happens between these two, so I can see another begging message coming on. I understand that there is another story in the works with one of the other characters so maybe we can catch up with these two in that…at least that is what I am hoping.

Kudos to Brooke Blaine on delivering an all-consuming story, that has the writing, the plot, the suspense, the angst, the chemistry and that all important love story that will have you frantically turning the pages. Fantastic debut and I cannot wait to read more from this author.

Wow, wow, wow! That is all that needs to be said about Flash Point - go and buy it!

I have read collaborations involving Brooke Blaine before, but this is her debut novel - and what a novel it is.

Flash Point is full of suspense, romance, lingering looks and a fair share of drama.

And OMG the chemistry between our MC's, Katherine and Jason - I swear anyone near them would have a bad case of proximity-lust! *Fanning myself* I swear the UST between them is off the charts.

But with things that have been and are happening to Katherine, it is hard to know who to trust.

And boy is there a big one of these thrown in

I swear. usually I have a bit of an idea when something like it is going to happen, but holy heck, this one really blindsided me!

There is plenty of intrigue, and you will be left wondering who you can trust - and it may not be who you think.

There is also lots of funny banter between Katherine and her body guards. Their interactions, though they are thrown together, feel organic. There were times I laughed, there were times I may have shed a tear.

From the minute I picked up Flash Point, I did not want to put it down (even though I had to, to go and be an adult for the day - boooo!). It is a fantastic stand-alone novel, and I look forward to reading whatever Ms Blaine has for us next!

LOVED!!
Katherine Shaw is sassy, spunky and mouthy. She's also been living in a nightmare for five long years.

Jason Garrett is one of her bodyguards. He's professional, stealthy, stoic, delicious and down right sexy!

"Forbidden. That was what the hell he smelled like. Something she longed for but could never get her hands on."

He's an ex Seal and bodyguard to high profile clients...until Miss Shaw. She's nothing but a young college student with a chip on her shoulder... or so he thought!

This story has it all.
It's suspenseful, keeping you on your toes, trying to figure out what's going on.
It's funny. I love the easy banter between Katherine and Kirkpatrick and all the funny names she calls him!
It's sexy!
Then there's sad and emotional. She's been through a traumatic event. Seen things you can't unsee.
Finally, some serious 'WTF just happened' going on!

"Things are revealed as you're ready to hear them."

Awesome read Miss Brooke! I look forward to your next masterpiece!

Cleverly and intelligently written by a new-to-me-author, this book is pure undiluted suspense that leaps off the pages and grips readers for a rip-roaring great read. The sexual tension crackles and sizzles with every emotion shared between our main characters, Jason and Katherine, creating an intense and explosive relationship. This is one complete package of satisfying romantic suspense with enough witty banter and laughter, along with strong and captivating characters. To top the whole shebang off, the finale is a stunner shooting this one straight to a full five-star rating.

I love romantic suspense and I'm always keeping an eye out for a well-written and equal balance between romance & suspense. You'll find it here in spades. This was a wonderful surprise package!

I have to admit I was very disappointed with this book. I expected a great RS with fantastic romance and suspense, and instead the first half of the book read like a NA with an immature heroine who had a moment of total stupidity where she sneaked out of her protected home to go and party, where she was drugged and almost raped. But I did like Jason with his broody demeanour.

The second half was a lot better than the first half, and the sexual tension between Katherine and Jason was quite steamy.

The plot wasn’t bad, and the one thing that I did enjoy was the twist at the end. I did not see that one coming.

Although I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I had hoped I would, I did like the author’s writing and I will definitely read more of her books.

Mystery, suspense, forbidden attraction…

This book has all that and more as Katherine Shaw’s life is once again turned on its axis. She witnessed the murder of her mother years earlier, and continues to be haunted by the violent loss. Her entire life changed and her choices, as well as her relationship with her father, continue to be influenced by it. New threats to the family have her father arranging for security which includes Jason Garrett, a man in black that she feels an immediate attraction for. They are going to be in close quarters, and danger from unknown enemies is not the only thing that is going to challenge their wellbeing, and their blood pressure.

This is romantic suspense at its best with characters, situations and dialogue that I loved from start to finish. I expected that Katherine was going to be the stereotypical spoiled rich kid but that couldn’t be further from the truth. She is young, haunted, opinionated, funny, and totally lovable. Her youth, and her struggles with the past, are revealed in some of the questionable choices she makes but I can’t help but feel her pain and understand her struggles. The conversations she has with her father, her best friend and the men protecting her range from hilarious to heart-wrenching as they reveal so much of what she doesn’t show on the surface.

“I’m trying to force your cock, Jason, not just your hand. Though that’s an important player too.”

Yes, I can’t help but love her sense of humour and her snarky, smart dialogue.

Under that relentless barrage, Jason Garrett’s stoic exterior is chipped away as Katherine gets under his skin and worms her way into his heart.

“The spirited pain in his ass he couldn’t stop thinking about.”

If I thought I knew what was happening in this fast-paced story I quickly came to realize I had no clue. Twisted and entertaining, this story is one that I finished while still hoping for more. I am going to find more by this author right now! ~ Diane, 5 stars

Let me pick my jaw up off the floor before I try to write this review. I am still sure what the hell I just read, because I was NOT expecting that. But, that being said, I loved the shit out of every page!

Katherine witnessed her mother’s murder 5 years ago, and after a threat, she knows that she may never be safe again. When her father finds his home office broken into, she knows the threat is back and staring her in the face. What she doesn’t expect out of all of this is him.

Jason Garrett, one of them men assigned to protect Katherine, did not expect her. And he tries his best to do what he has always done… Protect the client, don’t get close, and never drop his guard. If only that plan had worked.

There is enough drama in this book to keep you on the edge, with just enough heat mixed in to keep the tension thick. And when I say tension, I mean sexual and personal. They do not see eye to eye at all times, in fact at times I was wondering WHY they were even attracted to each other, but the body wants what the body wants.

I loved how the author could make the characters seem like they were real and make you feel the terror, excitement, and pain of each of them. I will definitely be reading more by her ASAP!!! ~ Devlynn, 5 stars

This book. This book is genius. I love a good suspense. I love a good twist. I love a strong heroine. I love a capable hero.
It had it all.
It had the tension I craved. It kept me guessing.
The characters were so consistent.
I just can't help myself. It's officially one of my favorite romantic suspense novels to date.
I don't even have words to describe this love that I have for Jason and Katherine.

I've been following Brooke since we did the book tours for her co-authored A Desperate Man series books with Ella Frank. When she emailed us and asked us to do the tour for her first book she wrote herself I agreed. I wanted to see how she did on her own.

I loved it.

I read this in one sitting and it kept my attention the whole time. It got H.O.T. at times, it was funny in others and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I have so many highlighted quotes I want to post but I think they would be better off if you read them while you were reading.

Katherine was funny. I usually have problems with some aspect of the lead female when they are her age but with Katherine I did not. Maybe it's fact that she had to grow up quickly after what happened to her. I'm not sure. Either way she was refreshing and a nice change from the norm with college girls.

Jason. What can I say about him. Hot. He was the perfect blend between silent mysterious type and funny sexy smart ass. I loved him.

Flash Point will be on my Top Ten of 2015 list. I loved this book. I can't wait to see what Brooke does next and I look forward to following her career.

Hmmmmm. It must be a case of it's not you, it's me because I seem to be in the minority on this one.

Ehhhh. I just….. liked it. (*shrugs*) In the end, it wasn’t what I thought I was getting when I flipped open to the first page. I was really pumped for this one. I was dying for that drive-you-up-the-wall intense feeling with a dash of push-you-to-the-edge-of-insanity with sexual tension. Sadly, it wasn’t there to the degree that I was hoping for or maybe it was and I just couldn’t feel it. It was a bit... mild for lack of a better term. I wanted to be climbing the walls with anticipation. I wanted a HUGE build up and intense desire to be rolling off the pages. While I may not be head over heels for Flash Point, it was suspenseful and I did like it. I just didn’t loooooooove it.

**5 FLASHING Stars**

Brooke Blaine knocked it out of the park with her solo debut novel. I devoured this book from page one. I really liked the character development and getting their POV's.

Katherine is your typical young twenties girl that has to go through more than a person should. As the story goes on you understand her more and her relationships with others. She's strong and doesn't let anyone stand in her way when she wants something.

Jason is smoking HOT and awesome at his job.
Hang on for a ride full of twist and turns with lots of angst
Grab your copy you won't be disappointed

I believe that Flash Point is Ms. Brooke Blaine’s debut novel by herself. I have had the pleasure of reading her and Ella Frank’s A Desperate Man serial and I absolutely love it so I was excited to give Brooke a try alone. I am stoked that I did because I really REALLY enjoyed Flash Point.

“I think you’d be more pleasant with a sausage in your mouth, yes.”

Oh, I was dying laughing. This book was really hysterical. In a lot of ways Flash Point is your typical Body Guard protects girl who he thinks is spoiled beyond reason but she slowly wins him over with her smart mouth and snarky attitude. So in that aspect maybe the book was a little cliche. But in other ways, this book was completely different and got a little darker at parts. Because actually Katherine is not spoiled, she is a good person who suffered something incredibly tragic. I really loved her character and totally sympathized with her. Her attraction to Jason is immediate and I really do appreciate how he tried to hold her off for so long. It made for some really entertaining dialogue and sexual tension. Yeah, the sexual tension was off the charts.

“Stop trying to force my hand, Katherine.”
“I’m trying to force your cock, Jason, not just your hand. Though that’s an important player too.”

The writing is this book is shockingly good for a newbie. I really enjoyed the story. The mystery, the hilarious characters, the sexy; all of it was top notch. I was thinking to give this book 4.5 stars but in the end I went with five and here is why. You got me, Brooke Blaine, you got me. I hardly ever get gotten. I can usually tell you “who done it” in the first five seconds of a book but this book is written in a way that completely threw me. So kudos to you Brooke, you won yourself a 5 star rating!

Speechless....

I went into this book with very little knowledge about what the story would be. I requested a copy in exchange for a honest review based on the fact that the male character was based on Jason Statham!!!! Jason Statham is on my top 10 list of favorite male actors that I get a hall pass for ;-) So our characters are Katherine who needs protection after her life is threatened because of her father's job and a past tragic event. Jason is one of the bodyguards assigned to protect Katherine and her father from the death threats they are receiving. For most of the story you are learning about Katherine and Jason, however, there is this creepy character that shows up a few chapters here and there. Throughout the story I loved Katherine's witty personality but there were a few moments I was frustrated with her actions. Jason, I though had the perfect about of strength and masculinity. The main reason I am giving this story 4 stars is because there was a lot of suspense and thrill with just a smidgen of heat and romance. I wanted more romance to balance out all the suspense and edge of your seat moments. Overall, I enjoyed the ride and don't want to say too much about the story because I hate spoilers.

If you're looking for a fun, suspenseful read, with sexual tension that's just dripping off the pages, look no further than Flash Point! With a feisty, sassy heroine, an unflappable, delectable hero, witty dialogue and a plot that will have your head spinning, Flash Point had me hanging on until the very last page.

And it left me wanting more, oh did it leave me wanting more. I feel so invested in these characters- Katherine and Jason really came alive in this book, you could feel their every emotion. From Katherine's sadness about her mother, her frustration and sorrow when it came to her father, and her yearning for more from Jason. To Jason and the struggle he faces when it comes to his desire for Katherine warring with his dedication to his job.

Flash Point is full of mystery and intrigue, with twists and turns that will leave you guessing from one page to the next. I was sad to see it come to an end, and hope maybe one day we'll get to see a little more from Jason and Katherine!

This book had me flashing a time or two as I tore through the pages. What a fantastic solo debut by Brooke Blaine!

The banter was witty and funny. Katherine was a spunky heroine and I just love that in a book. Intrigue, mystery, and a plot that will keep you on your toes until the end. AND Jason well you all need to meet the quiet protector who just happens to be extremely appealing.

This was a great read that I highly recommend. I'll be following this born to write author.

Wow. Definitely threw me for a loop here. A huge mind game of "who the heck is it", I was quite shocked when it was revealed.

And as for the ending? Definitely not what us romance novel devourers would call HEA, but I guess we'll never know.

The plot was common plot, the story sometimes dragging, but a great twist made it a decent book !
