I have Golden son on my kindle. Cant wait. Loved Red Rising.
Finished Ashling last night. Still enjoying the Obernewtyn Chronicles very much, so on to book four: The Keeping Place
I'm near the end of The Way of Kings, very good.If I think that Mr.Sanderson will write 9 other humongous books plus the other series....Wow.
(Ok, "only" 8 one is out already).
I am reading An Autumn War, A Thousand Words for Stranger and Rogues along with a sci-fi, A Deepness in the Sky.It i s nice to have the short stories going to read in between chunks of the larger books....like a palate cleanser!
Whilst one of my fellow adventurers recommended the Dark Elf Trilogy to me, I charged right in and eventually fell in love. Devoured the first two books so far and am about to accompany Drizzt on his Sojourn as well.I have not yet decided whether to pick up Firefight, The Lies of Locke Lamora or The Painted Man (the HP cover just looks to awesome) thereafter though. Any advise for the same would be most welcome. Looking forward to finding out what all you folks are reading this month!

:/"I would personally go for Elantris, for I really enjoy Sanderson's books, and this particular book has been high upon my to-read for quite a while now. Besides, it would be inspiring to see how he has grown compared to his latest books. Assassin's Apprentice is still on my to-read list as well, so I am unable to decide regards to The Mad Ship. Basically, I think it all depends on how well you liked the first part of the Liveship Traders.

I haven't read the Lies of Locke Lamora (yet), though I've heard good things about it. And anything by Sanderson is gonna be a fun read. Let me know how it goes! :)

I was not that impressed with Mistborn Series but Stormlight is one of my favourite series. Sanderson is brilliant when it comes to coming up with new ideas.
Robin Hobb is an amazing writer who focus on characters and narration more than the story. First liveship was brilliant. Hopefully the rest will be too.
All done with E.R. Eddison -- I just finished The Mezentian Gate.Next up: An actual paper book! Swords and Sorcerers: Stories from the Worlds of Fantasy and Adventure, edited by Clint Willis.
Monica wrote: "Way behind everyone else here...I just started my first Robin Hobb book Assassin's Apprentice"Great book, enjoy :)

I finished the first chapter last night...very well written.
I have a big big pile (ok, multiple piles) of books to read, but as a school librarian I'm reading a lot kid lit right now. The best kids' fantasy I read recently is The Box and the Dragonfly. It is fun and unusual.
I finished the Mistborn Trilogy. Took away my first 2015 week :DI loved the intricate plotting, the mythology and the unique magic system. I have also enjoyed Elantris. Any more authors like this?

You should definitely give both Warbreaker and The Way of Kings a try, if you have not read it already! :)

Thanks Florian :)
Is it easy to wait for the next Stormlight Archive book to come out. I know there are some out and he writes fast, but I like starting finished series, makes me batty otherwise :)
Just finished The Daylight War(Demon Cycle, #3), love that series!Just started on Red Seas Under Red Skies (Gentleman Bastard #2), finding my self feeling forced to keep reading, its not bad though, just not as good as the first, especially character wise.
I'm reading the Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson. Just finished The Final Empire and now I'm moving on to book two, The Well of AscensionSo far I'm in awe of this series. It has proven, to me, that Sanderson can do no wrong when writing some fantastical fantasies! He is definitely one of my top 3 favorite Fantasy writers!!!
Finished Swords and Sorcerers: Stories from the Worlds of Fantasy and Adventure -- eh, it was not without its charms -- and decided on something completely different: God's War by Kameron Hurley.(I do really want to read The Mirror Empire. But I have this strange compulsion to not read it until I've read her earlier stuff first, unrelated though it be.)
Just finished "The Amulet of Samarkand". Oh my gosh. I don't know why I didn't start this series sooner. It was really good.
Just started Vanished (Greywalker, #4) by Kat Richardson.Looking forward to the release of Vision in Silver (The Others, #3) in March.

:/" Elantris was a hard read. Brandon Sanderson has come a long way as a writer but Elantris is meh, a 2 out of 5. Robin Hobb was a writer I enjoyed as a YA reader. I never read her Live Ship Traders books but her Farseer Trilogy was pretty good.
Started Graceling, seems like a hype since there are a lot of raters =p hopefully its any good~ Elantris was entertaining!
I finished Nexus quickly, really liked it. I plan to continue the series but I might wait on book three.I read a bunch of Regency romances that were free through Kindle Unlimited - I love Marion Chesney/MC Beaton for the really short fun fluffy reads.
I picked up The Perilous Life of Jade Yeo a short story/novella about a Chinese/English girl in 1920s London. It was really good.
I started A Talent for War then put it aside because I wasn't in the mood - will pick it up later.
I read the first two In Death books -Naked in Death and Glory in Death - these are good and sexy, but the "SF" bits are pretty pathetic lol. But I'm there for the sexy times so who cares?
I listened to We Have Always Lived in the Castle - very creeptastic. I liked Hill House better though.
I tore right through Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle, book 3, which just came out. I love this series! But dangit, it ended on a huge cliffhanger so now I gotta wait.
Almost finished with Midnight Riot and I'm really into this one, love it and plan to read more in the series.
Next up is Galapagos Regained: A Novel and Annihilation.
Wow, I've been a busy little reader-bee!

Glad to hear the prose books are also good ...

Thanks for the reply, so far I'm not too fond of the story. I'm halfway through~ and planning to finish it. I can't feel their emotion and I'm too aware that I'm reading a book xD Doesn't happen when I'm sucked in...Having doubts on continuing the series, first finish this part~
The Lies of Locke Lamora- really enjoying this one! ^^Orchids of Britain and Ireland: A Field and Site Guide
The Origin of Species
Listening to:
Burned
edit: oh and The Faery Reel: Tales from the Twilight Realm
Lára wrote: "edit: oh and The Faery Reel: Tales from the Twilight Realm"This one is on my "to read" list. Will watch for your review.
Finished Warhost of Vastmark and Fugitive Prince, now I'm reading a couple of satellite short stories, Reins of Destiny and The Sundering Star before continuing with this series. I'm more and more impressed. Epic fantasy, adult-themed, complex and fun.

Awesome titles.
Awesome titles.
The Sword of Shannara, which loads of people think is a tolkien rip off...in this case a good thing, just the adventure I'm looking for!
Finally finished A Feast for Crows, which I had to push to get through, but it did have its great moments too.Next I'll be reading through February and probably into March, The Speed of Dark and Insurgent
Monica wrote: "Way behind everyone else here...I just started my first Robin Hobb book Assassin's Apprentice"Same here... Though I tried the first Liveship traders book a few years ago and didn't get very far. I'm loving Assassin's Apprentice so far!
Dropping Shannara..didn't feel like forcing myself through another book that just doesn't work for me. Something I saved for later but gonna do now since I need to be suuure to have a good book now to read is: The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson.
I'm trying to read Banewreaker. I've had a paperback copy sitting around my personal library for nearly a decade. I'm not a fan of Kushiel's Dart or the other books in that series but the idea of a war between The Dark Lord and The Forces of Light told from the perspective of the "bad guys" is intriguing.
Just finished Joe Abercrombie's Last Argument of Kings, next on the list is Douglis Hulick's second novel in the Tale of the Kin series Sworn in Steel

I liked the first two but never finished the series. It really went down hill and they are very bloated.
