You have a really tough one Barb! Not a lot of options. Here is the list of authors on goodreads that's last name starts with V. https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

There are only a few with the first letter B. I think your best choice is Barbara Vine She has a lot of books in the Mystery/Thriller genre.
