OK. I have re-worked my plan. I am still participating at the easy level.

I did make a change to Prompt 3 plan to accommodate one of the books of my original plan for Bingo, which I had started...and, I am using one of my passes.

I'm wondering about "real-life setting" vs "fictional setting." Obviously, clear fantasies or sci-fi are easy. But if a book, even though fiction, takes place in a recognizable location, then is it a real-life setting? Even if weird/impossible things happen? I'm thinking of books that might fall into a magical realism category. Brunonia's Salem series, for example, or Rainbow Rowell's Landline . I'm reading Landline for the May shelf, and it feels to me like a "real-life setting." But would that mean that only made-up places would qualify for "fictional setting"? Or do some books manage to be both?

as long as the place setting mentioned is actually real (ie. it exists in real life) whether the book is fiction or not, it counts as 'real-life setting'

I don't know what it is about it, but this is the perfect game for me right now! I'm really enjoying playing with the Bingo slots to see how they can fit in my JRI needs. And my inability to concentrate on reading from last month seems to be gone. I don't know if it was finally being done with Fall, or Dodge in Hell, or this game, or just getting used to life the way it is now. Anyway, I've just completed by first Bingo, the N column, and am not far from my second.

Thanks again, Tien, for being so creative. All the various game ideas you come up with speak to different ones of us in different ways. It's a real gift to us all.

Whatever it is, I'm glad that you can read better now, Susan! Life just doesn't feel right when you can't read, hey.

And you're so welcome, I'm glad that people are enjoying some or all of the games :)

I'm also nearly finish with my blackout which I find hard to believe that I'm managing to blast through this challenge lol

You are going so fast, Tien! I'm about halfway now. It's a fun challenge.

I think I do better where I can just try to fit books I'm currently reading to tasks than having to read specific books... still haven't finished Blind yet lol

I agree that that's easier.
I've got 1 book left for the blind date challenge, so am doing very well at that one.

Try this site, Meg, Years

Also if you're interested, I used John Marsden for this as he's born 1950

Meg, I've only finished 1 prompt since I kept upping my goal. Lately I was more focussed on the mini games than on the prompts. Though of course am making progress.

How cool, Tien! Thats a nice surprise we will get another mini game.

Each challenge usually has its own page. Like the one you're on now is for a mini-challnge that's ending July 10. So it may not be the one you'd pick to try first. But on any one of them, all you have to do is make a post saying what you plan to do. A good one to check out might be "LOST 2020". The first post is directions. The second is links to all the people who have signed up. And if you scroll past those two, you'll see posts from each of us who signed up for that particular challenge. You can use some of them as examples if you want. That's all there is to joining.

Another good one to check might be "2020 - 07 - anthology - What's on your TBR?" That's where you pick a book you want to read during the month for that month's chosen shelf.

And there are lots of others. Just browse down the main Pick-a-Shelf page and see what appeals to you. And ask again if you're confused. The members of this group are really friendly and helpful.

Have fun! And welcome to Pick-a-Shelf. We're glad to have you.
