KC I do read a lot of scans but my real love is to own the manga, unfortunately I only know english so my choices tend to be limited. I was wondering how many of you this this group own any or plan to get any.

message 2: by KC (new)

KC Lol I want about a million more as well. I current have 278 volumes of manga and more on the way but it’s never enough

message 3: by KC (new)

KC Omg I’m so freaking jealous. I have 8 Crimson Hero, 4 Yona of the Dawn, 4 Welcome to the ballroom and 16 The wallflower and that’s all I remember off the top of my head

message 4: by KC (new)

KC Crimson is OOP and certain volumes of The Wallflower are as well but Yona is so worth buying, I have a thing for main leads with red hair though so idk lol

message 5: by Xephion (new)

Xephion | 88 comments Counting both physical and digital, I think I have around 200 or so. I look forward to owning a lot more. There are so many I want to read.

message 6: by KC (new)

KC Ikr same but unfortunately I can’t seem to get into digital so it limits what is available by at least half

message 7: by Xephion (new)

Xephion | 88 comments I’ve started buying a lot of digital because ComiXology has sales pretty much all the time, and I like to read on my iPad. Do you have any Kodansha manga recommendations btw? They have a sale now on first volumes and I don’t want to miss any good ones.

message 8: by KC (new)

KC Digital and physical recommendations or just one?

If you haven't read Fairy Tail, I recommend it. It gets a bit hard to read sometimes.

message 10: by KC (new)

KC Lol I just started collecting Fairy Tail.
I have a list compiled because I got excited when asked about Recommendations.
Ajin - Thriller/horror kinda type but very interesting
Back Street Girls - funny but definitely more adultish themes
Bloody Monday - it’s about a hacker and it’s a very intense
Chihayafuru - cute shojo but also tech. A sports manga about a card game. Female lead isn’t horrible
Days - decent sports manga
Elegant Yokai Apartment Life - I very big on yokai manga and this one is very slice of lifey
Fire Force - typical Shonen but still interesting
Flower of Evil - veryyyy dark but good
Forest of Piano - cute and emotional at times
Giant Killing - sports but actually has adults being the players
GTO - Adult themes but very touching at times
Herioc Legend of Arslan - fantasy and kinda like Kingdom
Inuyashiki -cool concept
Dr Stork - I love doctor manga and this is so good but emotional
Living Stine - also cool concept
Saint Young Men - funny and a slice of life
Smile Down the Runway - modeling manga but it’s not just about being cute
To Your Eternity - same author as Silent Voice

message 11: by KC (new)

KC Welcome to the Ballroom - such a good dancing manga

message 12: by KC (new)

KC Omg I love fruits basket, was my first anime

message 13: by Xephion (new)

Xephion | 88 comments @KC - Anything from Kodansha. I think the sale includes first volumes of everything they have.

@Abby - I haven’t read Fairy Tail yet, but I have bought it. I’m thinking about getting the spin-offs as well:

Fairy Girls
Fairy Tail: Blue Mistral
Fairy Tail: Ice Trail
Fairy Tail S
Fairy Tail: City Hero
Fairy Tail: Happy’s Heroic Adventure
Fairy Tail: Rhodonite

Have you read any of those?

message 14: by KC (new)

KC I’ve been holding off on reading them because I’m trying to catch up but I’ll probably be interested in the Fairy Tail girls as I didn’t really dislike any of them minus Lisanna

message 15: by KC (new)

KC Lol I started reading it around that age too but now that I make money I’m collecting them

message 16: by KC (new)

KC Haha I wish, I’m basically brain dead exhausted so can barely read one

message 17: by Xephion (new)

Xephion | 88 comments Thank you for all the recommendations KC! I’ll probably buy them all haha. They’re just £0.99 each.

message 18: by KC (new)

KC Haha anytime, I’ve read almost too many to count

message 19: by Xephion (new)

Xephion | 88 comments Have you watched the Ajin anime on Netflix? If it’s any good I might watch it before reading it.

message 20: by KC (new)

KC I don’t mind it, the art style is 3D so it just takes getting used too

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

lol ha, ha.
Natsuki Takaya is the author of Fruits Basket, and I read it so I've always known how much she likes video-games. (ha, ha)

message 22: by KC (new)

KC The thing about Ajin is the main character is complex and overall well written

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Yep, lol

message 24: by Xephion (new)

Xephion | 88 comments I went a little crazy with the Kodansha sale so now I have over 300 volumes. I think I got all the ones you recommended KC.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

Thats so amazing I'm so jealous! :) no, just kidding

message 26: by KC (new)

KC Yesssss I support that decision! I hope you enjoy all of them, I feel like the recommendations I gave you were well round enough that if you get bored of one genre then I can just jump to another

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

yeah lol

message 28: by KC (new)

KC Hey lol

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

ha ha we are so weird. Sorry, no offense.

message 30: by KC (new)

KC Lol nah it’s all good

Chelsea (crystal_dark) | 14 comments I own a decent number of manga and hope to buy many more in the future. I am not sure what the number I own is but I have a printed out chart of all the series I own volumes from and have the volume numbers I own highlighted that I keep in my wallet so that if I go to a book store (like Half Price Books) or Thriftstore and come across a cheap copy I won't buy a book I already have.

Xephion wrote: "I’ve started buying a lot of digital because ComiXology has sales pretty much all the time, and I like to read on my iPad. Do you have any Kodansha manga recommendations btw? They have a sale now o..."

I have started trying to keep track of what series are by which company by designating goodreads shelves for them specifically for the purpose of being able to see what I want when sales come up. Here is a link to my Kodansha Shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Hope it helps.

I particularly remember enjoying:
I Am Here! Omnibus Vol. 01 by Ema Tōyama I Am Here! Omnibus Vol. 01: https://kodanshacomics.com/series/i-a...
Kitchen Princess, Vol. 01 (Kitchen Princess, #1) by Natsumi Andō Kitchen Princess, Vol. 01: https://kodanshacomics.com/series/kit...
LDK 1 by Ayu Watanabe LDK 1: https://kodanshacomics.com/series/ldk/
Waiting for Spring 1 (Waiting for Spring, #1) by Anashin Waiting for Spring 1: https://kodanshacomics.com/series/wai...

I also just read and really enjoyed Asahi-sempai's Favorite, Volume 1 by Machino Iroha Asahi-sempai's Favorite, Volume 1

KC wrote: "Welcome to the Ballroom - such a good dancing manga"

I have Welcome to the Ballroom, Vol. 1 on my TBR List.

message 44: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea (crystal_dark) | 14 comments KC wrote: "Haha thanks you, It was my dream too and now I’m aiming for 500 only worry is the space lol"

I know, they do take up a lot of space! At least when you do get the 3 in 1 volumes they only take up as much space as 2 manga instead of 3. Although most of mine are individual since I come across them cheap more often and not all series come in 3 in 1 format.

message 45: by KC (new)

KC I ended up trading my 3-in-1 for one series because I was scared the paper was gonna rip

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Xeph,
Rhodonite is only the 2nd part of Fairy Tail: Gaiden with the stories about the Sabretooth dragonslayers in the first volume and Laxus's crew in the 3rd.

Also don't forget Fairy Tail is doing the 100 year quest now too. :)
