What books are you reading in this category? If you've never cried over a book what are you going to do for this promt?

I was confused by this one. Does it have to be a re-read that already made us cry, our one that is sure to make us cry? I'm a big cry baby and I know which authors trigger me.

I will be watching this list all year to see what other people post. Only three books in my life have made me cry:1. A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer
2. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling
3. Two Boys Kissing by David Levithan
I'm with a lot of you - books don't typically make me cry. Only two books that have ever made me cry were "The Fault In Our Stars" by John Green and "Dawn" by Erin Hunter. I'd like to read something new that makes me cry, but if I can't find anything, I'll just reread TFiOS.
Well, I can't remember any book that ever made me cry, but I also don't pursue that sort of thing. I'm only reading new books for this challenge, so I am hoping that some of you can give me some suggestions for a tear-jerker.

eragon and inheritance are the only two books that made me cry. and the latter only because i was heartbroken that a series from my childhood had ended. oh and also for roran's loss.
I rarely cry in books. I'll leave this one until we're towards the end of the year. And if I haven't cried yet, I'll re-read The Fault in Our Stars
Maybe I'm just a heartless, emotionless shrew but i cannot think of a single book that has ever made me cry. Even TFiOS.
"The Pact" by Jodi Piccoult really got me. I don't cry at many books but that one was so sad. "The Notebook" and "Where the Red Fern Grows" are both on my tear jerker list as well.
So.. I finished "Wild" (at about 2:30 this morning) .. it made me cry (at the beginning even) .. But apparently, I'm emotional. Also cried all over the Notebook and the Last Lecture..
There have been a few books that have made me cry - Marley and Me, Firefly Lane, The Notebook (there are a couple of Nicholas Sparks books that have made me cry).
Two books have made me not only cry but sob.....My Sister's Keeper and The Fault In Our Stars. I'm sure something I read this year will fulfill this prompt.
I'm totally lost with this one, I never cried with books, not even with a movie. I just can remember one book, 1 liter of tear by Aya Kito and maybe because is a real life history. Probably I should try Anna Frank Diary, I don't know.
I just started The Miseducation of Cameron Post and the tears snuck up on me. I was so engrossed in the book that I was actually confused when I touched my face and there were tears there.
Where the Red Fern Grows gets me every time. We listened to it on tape as a family last spring and I could barely drive for sobbing - and I've read it half a dozen times!
I just finished Brown Girl Dreaming by Jacqueline Woodson. It could fit as a book by a female author, a nonfiction book, a memoir, a book you can finish in a day (even though I didn't), or a book with a color in the title. I am counting it as a book that made me cry. It was beautiful and bittersweet. I cried with happiness, sadness, and hope. I highly recommend it.
I have read quite a few Karen Kingsbury books and they are very much tearjerkers. They are awesome books but almost always make me cry.
I've just finished the first Hunger Games book, and Rue's death made me cry. I knew it was coming, because you can't but see spoilers with something so popular. But knowing didn't make it any less sad.
I read "Wonder" by RJ Palacio and cried several times throughout the book. A great look at bullying and seeing it from all sides.
I just finished Daughters of the Dragon, Bill Andrews. A very good book. I cried several times during this book, and it kept me up late into the night reading. If you are looking for a book, I would recommend.
Just finished "Leben" by David Wagner in German. A sort of diary of a guy who - after years of living with an autoimmune liver disease get's a transplant. What's made me most sad is not what happens to him but how he describes things so matter-of-factly.
Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the WorldMe Before You
Any book with animals in it will make me cry for sure!
The Fault in our Stars is what I read for mine. But, I've read A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer, and I think I balled my eyes out while reading that entire book.
I was struggling to think of one for this (I rarely cry in books). I've just bought Never Let Me Go though, and balled my eyes out in the film.I'm fairly sure the same will happen with the book!

I didn't see the movie, but just finished the book. It left me with a very numb sadness, none of the release of tears. It actually surprised me, b/c I am embarrassingly emotional and have become a sniffling, weeping mess during other books (I actually had to stop reading a book in a cafe b/c it was about to get ridiculous). That said, I still think Never Let Me Go is a wonderful book.
I don't cry at every book but it isn't terribly unusual for me to cry in a book so I'll keep reading and assume one will fit the bill. If I haven't cried by November, I'll give something really weepy a shot.
Last week I read The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes. Towards the end, I shed a few tears, which surprised me because I haven't cried over a book in years. Glad to get this one checked off - I was stumped about what to read for it.
I'm nervous that one of my already difficult to fill prompts (book with a color or number) will be the book that makes me cry and then I'll be stuck trying to find something else for that prompt. I was full-on-tears-flowing-down-my-face for a couple of parts of Moloka'i, when reading that book a couple of years ago. I did have to set aside some disbelief while reading that book though. One of the most beautiful books I ever read, The House of Mirth, made me cry like a baby.
Well, that was unexpected. Little did I know yesterday, while typing those suggestions in my previous post, that I was reading a book that would make me cry. I finished reading Where the Mountain Meets the Moon to my 7 year old daughter early this afternoon and being the sweetheart she is, she kept teasing, "Mom, what's going on? You have lots of tears on your face. No seriously, you need to wipe your eyes." It was very sweet and sappy and I am a sap, especially when reading to my girl (I should have known this would happen after the mess I was reading the end of The Complete Tales of Winnie-the-Pooh to her when she was 3). This book was going to be my "set in another country" book, but I've been able to move things around, so that I am really happy with the way my list is now and happy that all the other times I cry like a weirdo during the year's books, they will not count only for the tears.
I read Raw Edges by Raw Edges. It's about a cancer survivor who becomes involved with a widower and his daughter- cried through the whole book.
I cried reading Harry Potter ...half blood prince and I'd already seen the film (and of course spoilers everywhere !) But I've read that as the high school book. Assuming I will cry reading Harry Potter Deathly Hallows but if I don't I'm sure I can find something. Difficult prompt though - unless you read something you've already read ( which defeats the object of the challenge to me) can't really be sure a book will make you cry til you've read it.
But I defy anyone not to cry reading The Five People You Meet in Heaven
Thanks for all the suggestions. Just added "My Sister's Keeper" to my list. Hope this works. I've cried over movies before, but never a book.
Ray wrote: "Thanks for all the suggestions. Just added "My Sister's Keeper" to my list. Hope this works. I've cried over movies before, but never a book."My Sister's Keeper is a great choice, also The Pact by the same author might work. Both are pretty heavy subject material but very good reads.
There are so many! I'm so bad at crying in books. Check out my "made me cry" shelf: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...
I don't usually cry when I am reading a book, but I was reading Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen, originally for a different prompt, and it got to me. It's not the first time that I have read this book, but this time around it just about broke my heart in two.
I've never cried reading a book before, but I just finished reading The Last Song and wow did that make me bawl.
Gen wrote: "I've never cried reading a book before, but I just finished reading The Last Song and wow did that make me bawl."Love that book! It definitely had me in some serious tears but I am a cryer!
I'm most likely going to read My Sister's Keeper for this prompt since I already own it. I haven't seen the movie either.
I'm also part of the group that has literally never cried reading a book, not even when I was a kid, reading Harry Potter for the first time, or my first reading of The Book Thief (which would actually be FANTASTIC for this challenge as anyone else I've ever talked to about it has said they've absolutely bawled reading that). I don't even have any re-reads to fall back on despite planning on not re-reading anything for this 2015 challenge. The only thing that's made me well up any time that I can actually remember, let alone this year, was not even an official 'novel' but one of those booklets that came with some oracle cards (kinda like Tarot) I bought recently and I was already feeling emotional that day and read the pages about a few cards that hit a chord. So I'm not sure if that would count or not? If I have nothing else by the end of the year, I'll put it down, but until then I'm just going to keep reading and see how we go. If I'm going to struggle with a challenge, it'll be this one!
I don't often cry while reading. I think there have been a few books over the years that have brought me to tears, but I can't think of them at the moment. There are some books that I am surprised didn't make me cry (Me Before You, My Sister's Keeper, The Sea of Tranquility).I may try Where the Red Fern Grows (amazingly I have never read it). I'm wondering whether Old Yeller may be a good one too. Haven't read the book, but the movie certainly gets me crying!
I'm not much of a cryer with books or movies. Fault in Our Stars definitely made me cry, but I read it last year. I'm currently reading Fly a Little Higher: How God Answered a Mom's Small Prayer in a Big Way by Laura Sobiech. It's a true story that she wrote about her teenage son that had cancer. I'm only 1/3 through the book and it's had me in tears already. It's sad and inspiring all at the same time!
