cole ♥ clearlyreading (clearlyreading) | 94 comments I would be cool with sports or maybe celebrities? I think if we did celebrities a big sports star, musician, or royalty would fall under that. Unless it doesn't count as a profession.

message 152: by Allie (new)

Allie | 161 comments I think royalty and celebrity may be too vague. Not sure. I will ask MK.

message 153: by Allie (new)

Allie | 161 comments I received feedback from MK. Celebrity is to brush a term. She would prefer a certain industry (film industry, musicians, or athletes)

She does say she would give a pass for nobility (dukes, viscounts, ECT) or Royalty (kings, princes, ECT.) However they would not both work.

So here is our list

Athlete
Musician
Film Industry
Nobility
Royalty

Any one really wanting any particular one or not wanting one? I'm honestly happy with anything.

message 154: by Allie (new)

Allie | 161 comments If no one has a preference I will select one using a random number website or something.

message 155: by Victorian Vickie (new)

Victorian Vickie (vhartwell) I would prefer to read about Kings because I have this book in my TBR stack but I will glady go with the group

The Boleyn King (Boleyn Trilogy, #1) by Laura Andersen

Jamie (TheRebelliousReader) (iambrucewayne) | 1049 comments Honestly, I'd prefer athlete or film industry but I think selecting randomly with a site would probably be best.

That if fine...I just double checked and mine is MPG Romance so it might not count

message 158: by Allie (new)

Allie | 161 comments Alright, since we have multiple wishes. I will do a random choice. Give me just a minute!

message 159: by Allie (new)

Allie | 161 comments I just threw in 1-5 using the list above and google responded with...

1 - Athletes.

Would that be okay Vickie? You can of course take a pass this task if you need to. I'll try to find a longer book to get as many pages as possible.

Jamie (TheRebelliousReader) (iambrucewayne) | 1049 comments I'm going to read The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata which is 673 pages

message 161: by Victorian Vickie (new)

Victorian Vickie (vhartwell) That’s fine... just have to find a book

One of my favorite books! Even with so many pages, I read it in a day.

Jamie (TheRebelliousReader) (iambrucewayne) | 1049 comments Allie wrote: "One of my favorite books! Even with so many pages, I read it in a day."

It's my favorite contemporary romance. This will be my third re-read of it. I'm feeling kinda slumpy so I'm in the mood to re-read some favorites of mine.

cole ♥ clearlyreading (clearlyreading) | 94 comments Does anyone have a short sports romance they can recommend? I’m still testing and I don’t want to hold us up, I’m done with my worst test so I’ll have some time to read but not a lot!

Jamie (TheRebelliousReader) (iambrucewayne) | 1049 comments Nicole wrote: "Does anyone have a short sports romance they can recommend? I’m still testing and I don’t want to hold us up, I’m done with my worst test so I’ll have some time to read but not a lot!"

The End Zone by L.J. Shen is 170 pages. That's the only short sports romance I can think of that meets the 150 page requirement for the challenge. I had a few other ones but they fall either significantly or just a few pages short of the requirement unfortunately.

message 166: by cole (new)

cole ♥ clearlyreading (clearlyreading) | 94 comments Hmm I'm not a huge fan of LJ Shen's novellas but yeah the 150 page count is hard to hit with novellas. I did find Fake Out (Fake Boyfriend, #1) by Eden Finley by Eden Finley on audiobook on scribd. I think the character in that is an ex-baseball player now Sports Manager but I believe MK said that can fall under sports industry.

I absolutely love this series. I'm actually reading the 5th book for it. It's under sports romance, so I'd say it counts.

Allie | 161 comments I'm going to check with MK to see if we need to wait for Nicole to finish her book still even though we've hit 750 pages. I'm not positive.

Here's the problem, each teammate has to complete each task unless they take a pass. A teammate can only take a pass once throughout the challenge. Nicole took her pass on Task 4, so she needs to read for this task. ☹️

Thanks for clarifying MK. I knew it says each teammate needs to participated, I want sure if that matters as much with page count tasks? Thank you!

message 177: by Victorian Vickie (new)

Victorian Vickie (vhartwell) Just wondering how we are doing?

message 178: by Allie (new)

Allie | 161 comments I sent Nicole a PM since she usually at least checks in. I can only assume she's been really busy with her finals this week.

message 179: by cole (new)

cole ♥ clearlyreading (clearlyreading) | 94 comments I’m so sorry guys for holding us back. I’ve finished finals and it’s been a rough week. I will sprint through the rest of the book today! So sorry guys

message 180: by cole (new)

cole ♥ clearlyreading (clearlyreading) | 94 comments I’m sorry for prolonging this for so long but I need to resign from the competition. I just can’t focus on any books right now, I’m really sorry for holding y’all back. I thought I could catch up but I’m too unfocused.

message 181: by Allie (new)

Allie | 161 comments Thanks for letting us know your situation Nicole!

I've informed MK, she will pop in tonight, but says the rest of us will be able to continue on with the challenge!

Jamie (TheRebelliousReader) (iambrucewayne) | 1049 comments Aww, it's okay Nicole. Hope everything goes well for you! :)

message 183: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31755 comments Hope things mellow for you Nicole! I understand the problem with focusing, I struggled with that in March in particular.

For the rest of you, here is Task 6:

43. Each teammate reads a book that has been read by one of the RRRC moderators. No pass for this task.

There is no time limit for this task, as long as your chosen book is on one of the moderators' read shelf and rated it will qualify. Please include a link to the moderator's review or read shelf in your completion post.

Allie | 161 comments I read an article just the other day about the pandemic's effect on focus. It pretty much explained that, for most people, our bodies aren't used to being at this level of anxiety for prolonged periods of times. We are at a higher level of anxiety and we don't feel like we are allowed to feel safe (psychological lingo, but that was the general gist). So our typical soothing actions (like reading) still don't work.

I've found it hard to read contemporary, which is my most common genre. But, I have been able to read a lot of paranormal and historical. So I guess I just need to focus on things that are way outside the norm.

I'm having trouble with contemporary as well. I've read a lot of Urban Fantasy, Historical romance and middle grade this month. Anything else and I just can't get into it.
