Baseball isn’t supposed to be a game of life and death…

The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase... he started out as a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a god and partied like a devil.

I tried to stay away. I couldn’t.

Then, the team started losing.
Women started dying.
And everything in my world broke apart.

★★★★★! Moonshot (stand-alone). Forbidden! Inevitable! Doomed! He’s baseball’s bad boy, she is barely legal. Their story spans a decade!

“My head had been up, my teeth deep in the apple, my eyes widening as they encountered the utter beauty that was a naked Chase Stern.”

He is baseball’s superstar playboy who’s slept his way through all his teammate’s wives. She is the daughter of a baseball legend…

A forbidden match!

Moonshot (stand-alone) opens up to baseball shortstop Chase Stern joining the Yankees. High school senior and team batgirl Tyler Rollins, Ty aka Little League is well aware of his reputation and he’s conscientious of her age and her father.

An inevitable pair!

Their attraction is fierce and connection undeniable; candid conversations, stolen kisses, secret rendezvous.

Doomed love!

But fate has other plans. He is used to a life or excess; women drugs. A hushed scandal. A staged wedding.

Parts of their hearts left behind as life moved on!

It will be years before their paths shall cross again knocking their world off its axel with adultery, murder, intrigue, danger, secrets, lies, soul searching passion and heart-stopping love…

Nine words to describe Chase Stern: Cocky, successful, honest, jaded, blunt, conceited, smart, careless and immature.

Seven words to describe Tyler Rollins, Ty aka Little League: Naïve, sheltered, observant, timid, secretive, sweet and conflicted.

Moonshot (stand-alone), told from dual POVs offers a mixture of suspense, painful pasts, forbidden romance, sizzling sex as some things in life cannot be denied. It ends on a high just like a moonshot.

Super star panty-melting hero! Captivating heroine! Intriguing plot! Effortless story-telling!

Wow, what an awesome book!!! A heart-poundingly intense sports romance filled with forbidden love, second chance romance, and even a murder mystery! There were twists and turns I never saw coming and the final reveal took me completely by surprise! But at its heart is a gorgeous, swoony, unstoppable love story that concludes in a beautiful epilogue! This author is such a talented storyteller. Her writing is utterly addictive and especially in the final third of the book, I could not put it down!! A sexy, exciting, and thrilling read! Highly recommended!

I want to include the official blurb because it's just so good before I start my review...
Baseball shouldn't be a game of life and death...

The summer that Chase Stern entered my life, I was seventeen. The daughter of a legend, the Yankees were my family, their stadium my home, their dugout my workplace. My focus was on the game. Chase…he started out a distraction. A distraction with sex appeal poured into every inch of his six foot frame. A distraction who played like a God yet partied like a Devil.

I tried to stay away. I couldn’t.
Then, the team started losing.
Women started dying.
And everything in my perfect world broke apart.

As mentioned, the heroine, Ty, was seventeen at the beginning of the book. She'd grown up alongside her dad who was the famous closer for the Yankees and she lived and breathed baseball. The sport was a part of her. And that was where Chase Stern came in. As one of the hottest, most talented, and famous players out there, he had a reckless bad boy streak but nobody cared all that much because he was just that good. From afar, she worshipped him as a player and a celebrity, but she never imagined would become an actual part of her life. But when he was traded to the Yankees, everything changed. Suddenly he became a very permanent fixture in her life. Front and center.

Even though she hero worshipped him, she wasn't actually looking for his affection. Given his publicly manwhoring past, the fact that her father specifically forbade her to get close to him, the certainty that any scandal would be bad for the team, that he was a few years older than her, and a myriad other reasons, she tried to stay away.
“I didn’t want to be pretty to Chase Stern. I wanted to be invisible. He was God’s gift to our team, not to me.”

But staying under his radar became infinitely harder after she accidentally walked in on his gloriously naked body in the locker room. And for him, the girl who'd previously been invisible was now branded on his mind.
“Grand slams aren’t typically called for, in this situation.”
“What situation is that?”
“Untouchable women.”

“You want me to go down to the marina with you?”
“Jesus, Ty. To talk. To get to know each other. It’s not an orgy invitation.”
“I’m not supposed to talk to you.”
“You know.”

Despite his colorful past though, he seemed to be a different person around her and opened up in ways that showed her a whole new side to this man who until now, she'd really only seen through news articles. She was wary though...
“You think you’re the first asshole I’ve met?” I shook my head. “I’ve lived in a man’s word for a long time, Chase. And I’ve watched men like you make mistakes like that over and over again.”

But the more they got to know each other, she began to see a very different picture of the man the tabloids painted so recklessly. He was a god on the field, a devil to the world, but when he met her... everything changed.
“Our kiss had energy, it was a battle — one fought with gentle teases, exploratory touches, and passion — need pulling me forward even as I tried my best to push him away…”

He couldn’t. Never again not with anyone else. Nothing would ever, after that moment, compare. Not with her cry, not with her reaction, not with her kiss. A woman shouldn’t be created in such heartbreakingly beautiful combinations. A woman shouldn’t, in fifteen minutes, have the ability to ruin him for life.

They tried to stay away from each other, but even if their growing feelings for each other had to be kept secret, there was no denying that they were slowly falling in love...
“Listen to me very carefully,” He turned from the view and stepped inside… “You can try to paint this however you want — the press can paint this however they want — but there is nothing wrong with our relationship. It’s the purest thing in my life. She is saving me. And I don’t expect you [to] understand that. But… I need this to work. I need her in my life.”

From the blurb though, we know that this is more than just a forbidden love story. We know there is a murder mystery too. Someone was killing women connected to the team. But who were they? Who were the women? Who was the murderer? Who else was in danger?

The author did such a great job of contrasting the main chapters of the story where they fell in love, slowly getting comfortable around each other, admitting their feelings, opening up, meeting in secret... with the short news article quotes that hinted at the danger surrounding them.

And then came a twist that I actually did expect... followed by two more that I absolutely DID NOT see coming...

He actually...?
And then she really...?
And then they...?
So she seriously...?
Then he didn't...?
And now it's 4 years later??? *gasp*

Gah!!! I love second chance love stories so even though everything had broken apart devastatingly, it made me that much more eager to read on and see what happened next! I can't resist stories about reunited lovers and the specific twist about their situation took the story in a completely different direction than I was expecting and I LOVED that! It's a wonderful feeling when a book can take you by surprise and lead you down a path you didn't anticipate.

The second half of the book brought all the angst. If you thought the first half was forbidden, it had nothing on the second half. The rules had changed, everything about their situation intensified, became more dangerous, and that much more tempting. The pull towards each other was now too strong to ignore -- and was worth the risk...

He didn't know what he did in life to deserve the punishment of sitting next to this woman. To hear the soft huff of her breath and not kiss it away. Smell the scent of her skin and not bury his face in her hair. Watch the hem of her skirt, its rise up her thighs, and not run his hand up her skin.
..."I'm not sure how much you remember from before."
"Everything," he answered... "I remember everything."

Now the stakes were raised, their love was even more forbidden than ever, but their connection and chemistry had only grown with their separation, and girls were mysteriously dying... somehow things needed to come to a head.

“What do you want from me?”
His eyes softened, his mouth, when it pressed to me, gentle and soft, a plea of lips against a weak soul. “Everything. I want a life with you. I want to be the father of your children. I want every second we missed and a million more. And I’ll give away the world to get it.”

But things of course aren't that easy... and I honestly could not flip the last 150 pages fast enough!!
You'll see when you read it... It's intense!! And so addictively, passionately GOOD!

*** I just want to address one thing that I think a few readers might have questions about regarding a potential of a triangle/cheating and I want to reassure you that I was 100% okay with everything that happened in this book. The author created and handled the situation that the hero and heroine were in in the perfect way. I've included a spoiler link here ONLY if you desperately need it. It is my strong opinion that you should not read the spoiler and just trust me that I was okay with everything that happened. But at the same time, I know for a certain fact that some of you will be messaging me with questions asking for a detailed explanation so, for you guys, I've included this:

Alessandra Torre is an incredibly skilled storyteller. There are so many components that make up a great read -- strong writing, compelling storyline, just the 'right' timing, characters you care about, and that touch of originality that makes that particular book special -- and her books have all these elements in spades. Her stories are rich, vivid, and come to life as you read. She's a go-to author for me and I'm always excited when she releases a new book!

This is a complete standalone novel. The chapters are split between her POV (first person) and his POV (third person) and everything is resolved by the end in a beautiful epilogue.

If you're looking for a sexy, smart, well-written sports romance with twists, turns, intense angst, and heart-stopping love story, then this is the book for you! It's a favorite of 2016 for me and a top recommendation!

Rating: 4.5 STARS!! Standalone NA romance/romantic suspense.

Alessandra Torre excels at writing romantic-suspense. Add in sports romance, second chance romance, loads of angst, and forbidden love and you’ve got a thrilling read you won’t want to put down, aka- Moonshot.

Baseball. Americas greatest pastime. Are you a fan? After reading this book you'll want to be! I live in a city with a baseball team so I've been to my fair share of games and always root for the home team (Go, Reds!) but I wouldn't consider myself a baseball fan. After reading Moonshot, I want to cheer for baseball! The Yankees in particular ;) Ty made me want to be a fan. I could feel the love she had for the game and her team so strongly I wanted to feel it, too. Ty's father is a player for the Yankees so she grew up on the field. Literally. From the age of 7 to 17 she traveled with the Yankee's, eventually becoming their ball girl. The team was the most important thing in her life.

 photo 7A21CBAB-9CBC-4337-9F97-3A41C0D60EC9_zps0y2qt3gm.jpg

When Chase Stern gets traded to the Yankees, Ty doesn't know how to feel. He is baseball’s bad boy and the guy she's had a crush on since she was younger. He's only 5 years older than her and she tries to avoid him because as attractive as he is, he could only be trouble. Ty and Chase can't stay away from each other for long. Their chemistry is palpable. You can feel it rolling off the pages. They start a secret relationship and although it's bumpy at first and mistakes are made a long the way, they find their groove. Until everything changes. Nothing will be the same for these two.

Fast forward 4 years. Yes, you read that right... FOUR YEARS. Once I got to this four years later, I just couldn't handle it. The angst made me feel nauseated. Safe to say, angst isn't my thing most of the time but with the direction the story took, it was unavoidable. My heart just broke for these characters. The situation, all they'd been through and what they were going through now. There were moments I was angry, but most of all I just hurt for them. On top of the angst, there was a suspense element going on in the last half. The first half was more romantic and the second half definitely more angsty and suspenseful.
“God, you have no idea how much you tempt me.”

“It’s not temptation if you can have it.”

 photo AD06AA7E-7067-4FC5-A34D-CBE25C7A96EB_zps4gsujy3i.jpg

Ty Rollins is a character I fell in love with from the start. Her love of baseball, her liveliness and demeanor made me adore her. The last half of the book, I had a few issues with the choices she made but I can't say I didn't understand to some degree. She really did frustrate me at times towards the end, but she wasn’t in a good place. Chase was the opposite. I started out not knowing if I would love him, but the more we got to know him the more I liked him. By the end, he was my favorite character by far.

Moonshot is one of the most angsty stories I’ve read this year, and by far the most angst-filled book I’ve ever read by Torre. It wrecked my nerves and made me feel. The writing is brilliant and the story is complex. It’s more than just a romance. It has so many elements to it. If you are a fan of angst, I would highly recommend this read! The characters, though frustrating at times, were lovable and their story proves that sometimes first loves last.

5 The Heart Wants What The Heart Wants Stars
* * * * *Spoiler Free
Sometimes there is just so much in a reading experience, it is hard to focus on what to share. One minute you are thinking of a certain passage... then the next is something totally different which touched you and you want to relay those feelings in the review. It can be overwhelming at times and with this latest work from Alessandra Torre...I am in this position.

For this is a love story... of so many degrees...
With all of the loves so passionate, so compelling... they take on lives of their own...causing the reader to feel the intensity, beauty, and pain of it all.

This story has two main characters both young...she, when we meet her, is only 17.
Her 17, though, has been developed to maturity on many levels; she has traveled since 7 with her father's team, the world-famous Yankees. Ty, named after Ty Cobb, lost her mother young and became the child of the team. Her father taught her everything he knew and the bond between them flourished. She traveled with the club and was homeschooled before it got cool by today's standards. Ty was smart, athletic, and able to adapt to what life threw at her. She also grew into a beautiful woman.

What was truly remarkable was her love of the game and the Yankee organization. Instead of rebelling and going against what her dad provided her... his way of teaching her about life through baseball...she took to it like a duck to water. She became a ballgirl and developed an arm better than most rookies, a keen understanding of scouting talent and thick skin around a team full of men. She would counsel them on their heartaches...run the errands they asked and supported them when their hitting streak turned cold. She wasn't a girl/woman who believed in playing mind games...as she never had the opportunity to practice them. With all of her strength and maturity about the day to day understanding about the life she had experienced...she still was young, fresh, and a little bit naive when it came to boys and love.

On the opposite side of this equation is Chase Stern; he is fresh out of the teens... a 22-year-old baseball star. Think about that for a moment... because when stardom, focus on sports and people telling you how great you are being thrown at you...22 is older but maybe not so much.
A Gifted athlete from a teenager, he came up the ranks in a flash. He was already hot on the field and Golden Glove Material. His hitting was on course for the record books. He had the agent, had the groupies, and had the internal demons to push him to do risky things...Drugs were easy, women even easier and he was destined to make the bad decisions. One thoughtless decision had him set to be ousted from the team he was on and he informed his agent the only place he would go was the Yankees...Nirvana, Mecca... the end all be all for those who aspire for greatness in baseball.

Chase Stern got his wish; he was traded to the Yankees and by being there...fate was set for both Ty and Chase.

In the first part of this story, we are there as they awkwardly meet. This scene is perfect in how it captures both characters completely. She is still the 17-year-old who worships the ground this amazing player walks on. What is important to note is Ty's sincere and palatable love of the game. She sees the beauty and grace of the plays... the artistry of movement... the intelligence of split-second timing... she sees it all and it fills her heart. Combine that with the talent Chase Stern has and she is in a no man's land for her...He embodies everything she loves in life...so the draw for her is next to impossible...yet she also knows the pitfalls of what a ballplayer's life brings.

For Chase, his first meeting with Ty is at once, sarcastic, and then taken by this colt of a girl. She is this fresh, leggy thing... young, at first awkward and then pulling strength from her core. After she is gone, he realizes he had never met anyone like her...internally he knows to stay away.

These two are like colliding comets...on a course which has been set and scheduled to implode. It is only a matter of time. Friendship of a sort develops...with chemistry so strong it causes Ty to do things she never did before...like leave and go on adventures with Chase without her dad knowing. He had warned her about him...tried to make sure she stayed clear...but the friendship and pull of both Chase and Ty's wanting to learn about each other was too much.

Chase also is in a place he has never experienced. Oh, he has had women... but nothing which meant anything to him. Through Ty's eyes...he feels different... wants to be better...take care and be worthy. He knows he is playing with fire... but the burn in his soul is too much to ignore...and he is willing to play a waiting game for what he has decided he needs and wants.

Birthdays happen and so did Ty's. 18 was the magic number...18 changed everything. 18 would be the dividing line for true love, feelings, and mistakes. 18 would take a girl/woman and have her experience joy and heartache at the same time. Things that happened would not be able to Un-Happen and life would go on.

The second part of this tale has us almost 5 years later. Much has happened. Both Chase and Ty are still involved with baseball and both still have a deep-rooted love for each other.

As I titled this review...The Heart Wants What The Heart Wants...never have I experienced something so clear in the drive for that...These characters are all driven by the love of so many things.

There is the love of the game and the need to win the World Series. The need for so many reasons... for the Team, the City, the owners, and for so much more.

There is the love of each other...this driving need... which will overtake all thought and rules. It is the kind of passion that has festered...and grown till it has a life of its own and will not be denied, no matter the circumstances. In its essence, it is true and real...yet it must confront complications head-on.

There is also another element to all of this which adds an additional level of intensity and meaning. It is smart...cunning and causes us to turn page after page until the very end. It was quite remarkable.

This work will capture your heart and mind. There will be elements that may not be to your liking. However, all of it was necessary to tell this incredible tale of pure love and devotion. There were moments in this book where I was able to relive my first kiss through Ty. My lips were hers.... my gut had the butterflies and nerves...Torre's ability to put readers in the moment of two people connecting ... whether by conversation or the physical is very special. Her ability to make baseball as beautiful as it can be...to be on the field and smell the grass... to follow a line drive and see the players do their dance to make that double play. All of those experiences are equally as sensual as the coupling between these characters.

There is so much to love about this book... there is the young coming of age and love. There is the angst of life and what it can present from decisions made. It is the realization when one has to do the correct thing and confront head-on what one doesn't want to. And it has suspense bubbling under it all.

I was fortunate to see this book develop and what it has become is something very special. Torre shares her love of the game beautifully and gives us insight at the end of the book as to how it all came about. Wonderful.

I came across this review by Jessica (Angie & Jessica's Dreamy Reads and thought it to be fantastic; it gives so much more of this book and worthy of a read.

”Baseball shouldn’t be a life or death. Baseball shouldn’t determine fates.”

I too was born and raised in pinstripes and am a huge baseball fan. I dreamt of one day playing first base for the Yankees and being a part of this dream dynasty. Imagine my excitement as our heroine loves the game as much as I do. Yet taking it a step further she actually grew up with the team, how awesome! Ty’s father is the team’s famous closer, Frank Rollins and our Ty grows up to be the team’s ball girl (wish the team had girls for this spot because I would have loved this).

Ty Rollins has always worshiped the ability and looks of Chase Sterns, a legend in the making. When Chase gets traded to New York he is taken with the seventeen year old ball girl but quickly learns she is off limits for a number of reasons. That doesn’t stop the attraction and connection that they share.

”She shouldn’t trust him. He should have the strength to stay away. There was no way any of this would end up well.”

Yet love and friendship blossom between Ty and Chase and it was sexy, forbidden and delicious!

”I’m falling in love with you,” he said softly.”

The couple has a few misunderstanding and the fall out is devastating. They reconnect four years later but Ty’s life has changed but time hasn’t changed how they feel about one another.

”I want a life with you. I want to be the father of your children. I want every second we missed and a million more. And I’ll give away the world to get it.”

The love aspect and connection between Chase and Ty was a 5 Star rating. However there is a killer on the loose who has been attacking blonde Yankee fans. This reveal and portion fell very flat and off for me. So flat in fact that I wonder why a killer was needed in the story in the first place?

Also, strangely I didn't trust the hero in the beginning yet I liked him more than the heroine by the end of the story.

"He was born to wear our pinstripes."

Alessandra Torre will delight Yankee fans and sport romance fans with this novel. It was exciting, sexy and impossible to put down.

”As a teenager, he had corrupted me. As a woman, he had ruined me.”

Love had made everything brighter, my smile bigger, my days longer. Every secret smile from him, every stolen touch, had been a shot of happiness. Every night we’d spent together had been a step deeper into our friendship, a cut deeper into my heart.

 photo 47f0ce4a675630781c9d6127052267e1_zpsj2d9z5io.jpg

I’m going to be honest and say that I didn’t pay close attention to the blurb for this one. From the moment I saw the cover, I was in love!! I desperately wanted to get my hands on this book because I really am a nut for sports themed romances, but this turned out to be so much more. It was a steamy erotic thriller that had me on the edge of my seat near the end!! The beginning seemed to be a little odd for my taste, but once the Hero and Heroine come face to face in the Yankees locker room, I was a goner.

Chase Stern is the hottest baseball player in the MLB and his dream is to get signed on with the Yankees. He’s got a serious bad boy reputation but his stats in the game of baseball are beyond stellar. Eventually, the Yankees come calling on him. This is music to one young woman’s ears. Ty is the seventeen-year-old daughter to Yankees pitcher, Frank Rollins. Since the death of her mother when she was a young girl, Ty has become a permanent fixture with the Yankee franchise. Ty works part time as a bat girl and all around gopher for the guys on the team. Her love of the game and for the Yankees runs deep in her blood. She knows that Chase can bring a long overdue World Series win for her beloved team. Ty also may be harboring a little crush on Chase, which her father is none too happy about.

Knowing that her father is concerned about the possibility of Chase coming on to her, Ty tries to keep her distance, but these two end up having a very hot first encounter and no matter how hard they try, they’ll find it hard to stay away from each other. Chase has never had deep feelings for a woman but something about Ty calls to him and soon she ends up owning his heart. The two sneak around in order to spend time with each other and agree to take things slow due to Ty’s age but every base they reach together had me panting for more!! All the while I had a sneaking suspicion that something was about to tear this couple apart and I felt like pulling my hair out when I turned out to be right!!

They end up going their separate ways and my heart felt as if it were being ripped out and stomped on. Four years later, fate will reunite them when Chase returns to the Yankees, but Ty isn’t free to run back into his arms. The years apart has not helped either get over the love they have for each other, if anything it all comes rushing back and then some, the moment they come face to face again. When they are finally able to give in to their passion there is no way that that Ty can go back to living the lie that she had been for so long.

This is an angst-filled, fast-paced and steamy thriller that will have you on the edge of your seats! You will be trying to solve the mystery but I’d be amazed if anyone figures this one out until the big reveal. I thought I had the answers but the joke was on me by the time we find out the truth! A very entertaining and sexy read! I highly recommend it!!!

"Together, we would only bring chaos."

Moonshot by Alessandra Torre is a stunningly heart wrenching read. A 6 star, jaw dropper that had me on the edge of my seat, invested and affected by the characters. Angsty from start to finish, I was immersed in a world of feels where I loved, hurt, cried, smiled, wanted and yearned deeply.

Chase and Ty owned me. From forbidden love, to heart break, to a romance that spans the test of time, to the suspenseful, mystery and second chance elements, Alessandra crafted a Sports Romance so complex it was down right enthralling.

I don't even like baseball and yet I found myself riveted by everything--the sport, its players, the dynamic of the organization and the fans who go to the games. I didn't expect to be left so shaken by the story itself. In fact when I got the book, I thought it was going to be a lighter romance. LOL! Ridiculous. That's what I get for going in COMPLETELY blind. At about 25% I was so BLOWN AWAY by the story, I decided to go back and actually read the blurb.

EMOTIONALLY EXPLOSIVE, Moonshot is packed so full of raw heart, it's close to EXPLODING. Alessandra brought to life all kinds of emotions from first love flutters, to regret, guilt, betrayal and undying need.

I couldn't get enough.
I mourned the end.
And I don't think I would have ever been ready to be done.

Even now, weeks later after finishing, I find this the easiest review to write. This novel is crystal clear in my head. A vivid memory that's left a powerful, long lasting impression. I can see it, every scene, every tender moment, every second of heart searing passion, and every moment of potent, soul shattering pain, need, and love. Ty and Chase are simply unforgettable and their love story is absolute perfection!!!

Ty Rollins is the ballgirl for the NY Yankee's. Her father is a world famous pitcher (a closer) for the team, destined for the hall of fame. Baseball is Tyler's world, it's in her blood. Her mother died when she was young and so a life of travel with her Dad was in the books. She lives for every moment of the game, though. She relishes it. These players, the Yankee's, are her home, her family. And she loves them, like they love her.

Chase Stern is a ballplayer with a very very bad boy streak. Destructive, he gives no fucks about anything or anyone. With a career on fire--destined for greatness--but a personal life on a one way ticket to destructive-ville, he finds himself traded from LA to the NY Yankees. Chase is a womanizer and Frank, Ty's dad, knows it. He knows Chase could spell T.R.O.U.B.L.E for his baby girl.

But Ty isn't worried about falling for Chase, or that of Chase falling for her. She's 17. He's a 22 year old famous ball player... **insert wide eyed expression*** But, when Chase shows up and takes one look at Ty, he's more than enamored. AHHHHH.... **breathes deep**

"First loves were supposed to be flimsy and temperamental. They were supposed to burn bright and fade fast. They weren't supposed to stick. They weren't supposed to eat away at a man's heart, his capacity for life."

This story is multifaceted. Not only do we get this indescribable romance, but we have a murder mystery aspect as well. It's complex, deep, turbulent, and passionate. The feels are vibrant and long lasting. They hurt, oh so freaking good. My heart was stolen by this story and these characters. From beginning to end, I could hardly take a breath, I couldn't get enough. Alessandra's writing is hypnotic, seamless, perfect in every way. And this book is going to claim your heart and become a favorite on your reading shelf. It's down right PERFECTION. A must read of 2016!

"Together, we would only bring chaos."

Moonshot is a stand-alone contemporary sports romance expertly blended with love, intrigue, action, and mystery. However, this is not your ordinary sports romance. With murder, baseball, and forbidden love, Moonshot will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire read!

"Spikes first?"
Ty Rollins has spent her entire life in the baseball world. The daughter of a closer for the New York Yankees, she has been a part of the team her entire life. As the "bat-girl", she supports the players on and off the field. At the ripe age of seventeen, the only thing of significance in her life is the game and the love of her father. But, when Chase Stern joins the team, everything changes.
"He was beautiful. He was perfection. And he had, according to the news report title, been a very bad boy."
Chase is a "bad boy" and the "superstar" of the game. As soon as he enters Yankee Stadium, he meets Ty and is immediately taken by her. Although she is too young, he can't help himself. Despite her father's attempts to keep them apart, Ty and Chase form a friendship, and a forbidden romance begins.
"I wrapped my arms around his neck and let his kiss crash into me."
As the season heats up, Ty and Chase grow close, and it seems as though they are heading straight to an HEA. However, mistakes are made, and Chase and Ty are torn apart.
"Look at me, Ty. Stay with me, baby."
"With every single play, I thought of him. With every single play, I died a little more."
Four years later and life is significantly different for both Chase and Ty. Ty still lives and breathes the Yankees but now is married to the owner of the team. Chase is playing ball and thriving wearing other colors. With the Yankees on a loosing streak and a serial killer in their midst, the team needs a "dead ringer" to bring the team to win the Championship! When Chase is traded back on the team, Ty is terrified. Together again, Ty and Chase must overcome the feelings from the past, face their present, and perhaps make a way for their future. With murder looming and the championship at stake, will their love be enough to survive?
"There was no stopping this. There was no more resisting. Damn any of the consequences, damn any future heartbreak."

Told in dual POV, Moonshot is sexy, romantic, and pulls at your heart. The tempo is fast paced, and the mystery will keep you guessing until the very end. Chase and Ty are both quite complex, and their relationship was quite touching. I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing the dynamics of the game and the relationship between Ty and her dad. Due to the separation of the two and the circumstances they face, the angst factor is quite high in this read. There are some delicate elements that are explored, and yet, I couldn't help but root for Ty and Chase the entire read!

Moonshot is a definite home run for Alessandra Torre. With endearing characters, smoking hot romance, and BASEBALL, this is a perfect summer read!

"Life is a series of stupid decisions interrupted by luck."

Ty is a daughter of a legendary closer for Yankees. She is also a ball girl and she travels with the team to all of the games.

Chase Stern is a star player with questionable reputation who gets traded in to Yankees. He knows Ty is off-limits but despite it all he is drawn to her.

➦Their forbidden romance blooms but eventually comes to a stop due to some unfortunate circumstances. Years pass until these two cross paths again. Will there be a second chance for them?

➦And in the midst of it all there is a mystery. A series of unsolved murders somehow connected to Yankees.

❤Alessandra Torre is one talented lady. I enjoy her writing, it kept me glued to the pages. The sex scenes were scorching hot, the plot twists unpredictable. I really loved the baseball aspect and learned some new stuff about the game :)

❤The quote I used in the beginning... There were some stupid decisions made which changed the course of MC's lives. People make mistakes, they pay for their mistakes, they move on. I think that's actually a big part of this book and I respect Torre for not sugar coating anything.

✘There were some things that I would have preferred to be different... No, it wasn't the cheating. Yes, there's CHEATING it this book, deal with it. Or don't. You've been warned.

I've read a bunch of reviews where people are outraged about the cheating. Well, unfortunately, it's part of life... just look at the divorce rate. I suppose there are assholes who cheat just for the sake of cheating but let's be realistic - most people probably do it because they are unhappy in a relationship.

✘Ty and Chase went from friends to lovers too fast for my liking - it felt a bit too rushed. But I suppose with the whole mystery aspect of the book there wasn't enough pages to fit it all in. Chase's transformation from a bad boy to a good boy happens very rapidly... I would have loved more gradual progression.

✘The plot twist and the mystery. Didn't love it. I actually could have gone without, but that's just me... I prefer more focus on relationships between the characters and character development. :P Everything was leading to this big moment and you know it's coming... and I just thought it took away from the romance in the second half of the book.
➦I definitely recommend this book for those who like sports romances, forbidden love stories, murder mysteries and suspense. :) Those who are super sensitive about cheating should probably stay away.

Not rating because I didn't finish Moonshot. I accepted an ARC of Moonshot to read and review, it wasn't forced on me and my bias would have lowered my rating.

I'm sorry to say but this was not a win for me. I could easily say that it's not the book it's me and to some extent that's true. I call myself a reviewer and I take it pretty seriously. I don't just take on ARC's willy nilly, I study the synopsis, check out the author's other works and see if they seem compatible with my style. I know what I like and I know what I don't like. I know that I don't like rating books low, so I choose books that I think I'll like. Sometimes, even after due diligence, a reviewer can still pick a book that appeals to the mind, appeals to the senses...but just does not work. Unfortunately, Moonshot's appeal didn't work this time.

To each, his own and all that jazz, don't judge this book on my opinion alone. Take the time to read what other's say, and you may find Moonshot appeals to your mind, appeals to your senses and works perfectly for you.

MOONSHOT is a STANDALONE novel containing everything I LOVE in a story and Alessandra Torre executes it all to complete perfection. The weaving of the tale illustrates the author's incredible vision for individual and compelling storytelling giving my heart the best kind of emotional workout. Baseball, a curse, deep love, loyalty and murder all have a part to play in the canvas of the narrative making it one of intrigue, suspense and enchanting romance with a touch of the forbidden. As a UK girl baseball is the obvious exception to my first statement, I know very little about it, except what I see in the movies and books but it mattered not, this story catapulted into my TOP READS for 2016 list. The pace of the story set perfectly to keep me on the edge of my seat as with each turn of the page I fell deeper in love with hero, and totally embroiled in the mystery element. My mind worked overtime trying to deduce the clues scattered within the text, theorising and then ultimately being awed by this author's propensity for unique could-not-put-this-book-down story composition. #WantedThisStoryToLastForever

MOONSHOT unfolds with clear motivation at every point. The succinct way the story is expressed with sentences so simple in singular words yet when formed imaginatively together enhance the richness of the story evoking so much emotion, hitting me in the heart time and time again. No word is wasted, every syllable crucial to the telling. It's character driven but wrapped in a plot that’s carefully constructed to keep our minds guessing and the heart feeling in the most exquisite way resulting in an utterly compelling read of split second decisions and far reaching consequences, second chances and everlasting deep love. Beautiful inspiring relationships depicted with characters who make bad choices can make for the most interesting and feel inducing stories as depicted convincingly in Moonshot's rich layers of romance, suspense and intrigue.

Ty Rollins lives and breathes baseball with her Yankee hero father. Becoming a ball girl was a natural progression of her involvement and her living-the-dream continues when 22 year old Chase Stern joins the Yankee team as a perfect player and sexy hero with a bad boy reputation. His personality and good conscience shine's through the prose making Chase a hero who I found super easy to fall in love with. There appears to be a curse on the Yankee team a curse that hooked me to the pages of the carefully crafted plot wondering who, wondering why and wondering if this couple could find happiness with each other? Making Moonshot an exciting prospect for readers of both romance and suspense. Although 17 at the start of the story, the reader experiences Ty's progression into a self assured woman with the sensual nature of this story developing in time with the heroine's age.

The perspective of the story toggles between the protagonists and is easily distinguished by the first and third person narrative bestowed upon Ty and Chase respectively showcasing their affable, endearing voices easily drawing me into their world and minds. Making me effortlessly feel their emotion as they succinctly drove the story forward in short chapters enhancing the pace, with suspenseful nuances, punchy catch-your-breath sentences and a chemistry that’s sexy and dreamy. Beautiful erotic prose ensures sensuality and passion are at the heart of this story with exquisite words evoking the most perfect aching beauty.

Alessandra Torre has produced magic again stamping her unique writing talent all over this unforgettable STANDALONE story. I simply did not want it to end. *Equally I NEEDED to know the outcome of every element, making this an addictive page turner!* Ty and Chase have played a MOONSHOT all the way to my FOREVER FAVORITE BOOK COUPLES LIST and made this one of my favourite Alessandra books to date. Readers who love Romance will eat this book up and those who love SUSPENSE will bask in the brilliance of the story.

BR with my Shhluts :D - Read as part of the Shh... (F)BR for Moonshot.
ARC kindly provided by the author via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
 photo Moonshot - Alessandra Torre_zps9clcmqlm.png

Alessandra Torre has become one of my favourite authors since I read Tight and I a am always excited when she announces new releases. Of course, as an AT fan, I was impatiently waiting for this book! I waited so I could start reading in the Shh... Epic WORLDWIDE (F)Buddy-Read (you can still participate!) and, as always, it was a great read!

Moonshot is a stand-alone sports novel written by the amazingly talented Alessandra Torre and it tells the story of Tyler 'Ty' Rollins (the daughter of a baseball legend and seventeen year old Yankees batgirl that, even though knows about the hero's reputation, cannot stop her pull towards him) and Chase Stern (the sexy baseball player that is starting to get attention for his play, a man who still struggles with a sad past event and a man who cannot stop from wanting the prohibited, especially when he meets Ty). Mix this sizzling love story with lots of baseball and suspenseful developments and you get this fantastic book!

He was beautiful.
He was perfection.
And he had, according to the news report title, been a very bad boy.

Together, we would only bring chaos.

Love baseball? You will love this! If not, you will after reading Moonshot, that's for sure! Alessandra Torre introduces this theme in her newest release and it works so well with the story. I cannot say it enough times: Torre is an extremely talented writer. I love her writing style and how everything in her books connects so well. She is the master of suspenseful twists and boy, did she have an ace up her sleeve this time!

I broke under his hands. I might’ve cried. I definitely swore. In those moments, his eyes on mine, his touch pushing inside, I climbed into heaven and fell back down a different woman.

A woman shouldn’t be created in such heartbreakingly beautiful combinations. A woman shouldn’t, in fifteen minutes, have the ability to ruin him for life.

Now, combine all these mysterious deaths with a fabulous and forbidden love story. Chase and Ty start a secret love affair that, of course, is full of out-of-this-world sex scenes. Their chemistry is smoking hot and you will love when the sexy Chase Stern plays dirty ;) However, not everything is hearts and flowers for these two. Circumstances and stupid decisions separate the couple and when they meet again both have changed a lot.

Our world became a prison, the World Series our key to escape. And my nights on the field? That was my prison time spent in the yard. A big yard, one where gods played.

“Not to be un-gentlemanlike, but I haven’t gone to bed in four years without jacking off to the thought of you. And it wasn’t you on your knees. I have to touch you, baby. I have to fucking drink you in. And there isn’t a thing that you can say to change that fact.”

Together with all of this, Torre continues working with her big twists and suspenseful situations. Again, you do not expect what is coming and who works behind it and I love how I get surprised every time by that. Still, I have to say, Moonshot is not my favourite book by this author. Sometimes I did not understand Ty's decisions and also it was difficult to get the couple's relationship after they meet again. Besides that, I really enjoyed it!

Baseball shouldn’t be life or death. Baseball shouldn’t determine fates.

As a teenager, he had corrupted me. As a woman, he had ruined me.

Therefore, my rating for Moonshot is 4 STARS because this definitely was a good read with a good and mysterious plot, complex characters and a couple with super hot chemistry. I love how Alessandra's stories are not predictable, everything is perfectly connected and you are always satisfied by the end! So, if you enjoy her books or if you like baseball and you want to read a great sports romance, you should check Moonshot out! I recommend it!

"Certain loves can't be fought. The harder you tried, the harder you would be knocked back, over and over again, until it beat you into submission, until your heart caved and body surrendered."

4.5 Stars!

My love for Alessandra Torre and her way of captivating me with her terrific writing grows with every single one of her books. Moonshot was beautiful and unforgettable. I freaking loved it!

Tyler Rollins was seventeen years old when she fell in love with baseballer Chase Stern, 5 years her senior and a member of the New York Yankees baseball team. Growing up, she has been working as a ball girl, accompanying her dad who's a member of the said team. With Tyler and Chase's situation and age difference, their relationship seemed a NO-NO, but despite the odds, both of them managed to hide their relationship. One night, a single mistake ruined their relationship which led Chase to be traded to another team. Since the next events will be a spoiler, that's for you to find out what happens next. ;)

First of all, I loved the idea and the premise of this book. At first it kind of reminded me of Whatever Life Throws at You by Julie Cross because of the similarities of their heroines whose fathers are also members of a baseball team. They also fell in love with a hot baseball golden boy. But of course, the similarity ends there. In the later chapters, the storyline changed and wheeled into something different, more interesting, and edgier. Plus, a lot of surprises came out which made the whole thing stunning.

The book was so unpredictable and it took me on a roller coaster of emotions. One time I was swooning, the next time I was crying. Oh boy, what you do to me, Alessandra Torre. The characters were also well-portrayed and very likeable. I loved Tyler and her passion for baseball and the full support she gave to her father and the team. Chase was also an amazing character. Everything about him was appealing.

I can't also deny the fact that these two have this undeniable sexual chemistry. Those scenes... I cannot!

Not only did the book provide so many swoon-worthy and steamy moments but it also had the right amount of angst and an air of mystery in it. And that PLOT TWIST. Wow! That. Was. Mind-Blowing.

"Life is a series of stupid decisions interrupted by luck."

The world of baseball was also well-represented here. I loved the way those technical words were mentioned and described and made me vividly picture out the baseball scenes in my mind. In my opinion, this is how sports romance should be written. Well-done! Now if you're looking for a great sports romance book, I highly recommend Moonshot! It's everything you'll want and then some. :)

Intense, angsty, suspenseful, and passionate, Moonshot was just the book I needed after a whole month of feeling uninspired by the books that I have been reading. It pulled me right into the story, and I felt completely engrossed by the beautifully written words on every page. There was a suspenseful element to this story, but it wasn't the main focus. For me, it was just a great, second chance romance.

Tyler Rollins has been a part of the New York Yankees family since she was 7 years old. Daughter of the team's much-loved manager, she eats, sleeps, and breathes baseball. When her childhood hero, Chase Stern is drafted to the club when she is 17, both of their lives are set on a path that is tumultuous, rocky, and extremely intense.

"True Love didn’t give up because of a hiccup. Or a trade.
True Love stood together and fought."

They embark on a forbidden affair, which is both sweet, and passionate, but the road to their happy ever after is severely tested when miscommunication tears them apart.

This book captivated me, and I thoroughly connected to their love early on. Ty and Chase were both young and naive - as young adults are, but they both wanted the same thing, and that was to just be together without anyone judging them.

"I broke under his hands.
I might’ve cried. I definitely swore.
In those moments, his eyes on mine, his touch pushing inside, I climbed into heaven and fell back down a different woman."

The journey they went on was heartbreakingly beautiful, and although I was extremely frustrated at times with the direction the story took, it was a highly memorable and incredibly developed story. I'm never too hard on the characters I read, and all human beings make mistakes and I totally sympathised with the hardships the characters went through.

"I want a life with you.
I want to be the father of your children.
I want every second we missed and a million more.
And I’ll give away the world to get it."

This is not your typical new adult sports romance, but an emotional and intense read that will keep you glued to the pages. Alessandra Torre is a master at storytelling and I loved that she was able to pull me out of my funk with a raw and gritty romance.

Moonshot is a standalone sports romance, told in dual POV's.

That moment when EVERYONE loves a book, but you!

I've read seven books from this author, all have been 5-star reads for me. So it comes as a shock and with sadness that the eighth book, 'Moonshot', did not strike hot, too.

From the start, I felt a disconnect with the characters and the plot.

I didn't understand the instant love between Chance and Ty. I knew Ty had a crush on him for years, so on her end, it made sense. But for him, his intense bond seemed out of left field.

I can't say I ever felt a connection to their romance either. I didn't feel the passion or the love.

I struggled with the lack of dialogue. I wanted more interaction between characters. Perhaps that would have allowed me to feel more of what they were feeling?

Then a huge pet peeve of mine -- the miscommunication between the two -- which caused Ty to make a life-altering decision (which, even though she is young, this was so out of character for her that it had me screaming at my Kindle) and caused them to break up. Gah! I was so frustrated with their choices and their lack of communication that it created further disconnect between the characters and me.

Lastly, I was thrown and a little frustrated by the who-done-it. I really wanted this part to be played up more. I wanted more suspense, more focus on the murders that were mentioned in the blurb. The whole discovery didn't make sense to me.

As always, remember reviews are opinions. Chances are great that you will love Moonshot. Many of my friends did. And don't forget, I have great respect for the writing of Torre. I love her dark romance and romantic suspense books. Her books quite often make my Top Faves of the Year lists!

“Life is a series of stupid decisions interrupted by luck.”

Tyler Rollins lived most of her life working as a bat girl for the Yankees, the team her father played for. At seventeen years old she's close to graduating high school from home school and has secured a job with the Yankees after. Chase Stern also enters her life, a new player for the team. Knowing his reputation, Tyler's father asks her to stay away from him. But Ty and Chase have a connection from the very beginning, a genuine one that cannot be denied.

"A woman shouldn’t be created in such heartbreakingly beautiful combinations. A woman shouldn’t, in fifteen minutes, have the ability to ruin him for life.”

This book came as a bit of a shock to me, Torre can be a hit or a miss and this book was definitely a hit! I went into this book knowing many of the spoilers (because I am a spoiler whore) and I think it helped me personally with this book as there are aspects not everyone would love. Some things bugged me but I was able to look past them and enjoy.

I was surprised to find that this book had one of my favorite tropes: second chance romance. While the first half of the book was very romantic and sweet, the second half had the angst I wish for in every book with a tiny bit of suspense thrown in. I really loved the romance story, Chase and Ty were amazing. I just wish the suspense aspect was gone because it didn't seem necessary at all. This book would have been 5 stars without it.

Anyways, I know there are a lot of baseball books out right now but I have really enjoyed every single one I've read. So you don't want to miss out on this one!

Genre: Sports Romance/Suspense
Type: Standalone
POV: Shifting

Chase Stern was the bad boy of baseball. He partied as hard as he played, until his wayward way ultimately brought him to his dream team.

Tyler (Ty) Rollins had baseball in her blood. As the daughter of a Yankees player, she grew up in the dugout and had a family among the team. That was until Chase entered the picture and changed the dynamics irrevocably.

Unless it's auto/motor racing, I do not know much about sports. Therefore, I tend to avoid sports themed books unless it's by author I love or with a premise that captured my attention. Moonshot ticked both criteria.

This close he could see her eyes. This close, he could almost smell her. This close, if she wanted to, she could crush him.

Chase commanded attention since he was first introduced. He might not start as a likeable character for some but I love seeing him evolved from there. And I can't help feeling all swoony with the way he loved.

Even though I don't know much about baseball, I could understand and feel the passion Ty had for the game. She also evolved a lot throughout the story from an innocent, carefree teenager to a woman with a heavy burden to bear.

I love how this book is not just another sports romance. Behind the baseball and the romance, there was a suspense sub plot that kept things interesting. I do wish a little bit more details of it though.

Certain loves can’t be fought. The harder you tried, the harder you would be knocked back, over and over again, until it beat you into submission, until your heart caved and body surrendered.

Moonshot is a story of two people bound by their love of the sports finding their way together amidst past mistakes and future risks. The fast pace and engaging storyline will keep readers flipping the page until the end.

This book, this story HAS IT ALL.......it is a sweet, romantic, sexy, suspenseful, baseball thriller. It has highs and lows, love and loss, and a storyline that has you theorizing and theorizing and theorizing!!! It's a book you simply can't put down. Chase Sterns and Tyler "Ty" Rollins are names you won't forget. I will say the Chase Stern will melt your heart and own it. Ty Rollins is sassy and young and she is a Yankee thru and thru. But these two have a connection and it turns into love from friendship. It's intense and sexxxxxxxxxxy!!!! In a sweet beautiful beginning that I adored to being tossed and turned and dazed and confused during the middle and then the ending........you'll just have to read to find out because it's never that easy and simple.

So.....I'm sure you see that the blurb is not very long. It's intriguing and enticing.......and Guess What......that is all you need or should want to know. This book has so many moving parts that to tell you the story would be to ruin the experience. Alessandra Torre is an incredibly gifted and talented writer. Her knack for storytelling that is askew is addictive. There are twists and turns that make the reading experience breathless and shocking. She melts the two beautifully and effortlessly.

In a perfect world this is a book that you wish everyone could come together after you are finished because there is so much to talk about. During the reading you are on so many different emotional levels. You definitely need reading buddies - you need to vent and theorize and just discuss WHAT IS GOING ON!!!! The best part of reading an Alessandra Torre book is that nothing is ever black and white........she truly takes you on an epic journey with every book or series.

So grab your glove and bat- there will be fast balls and lots of curve balls. You will swing and miss, you will swing and strike, and when all is said and done.......you will swing an epic home run, or to be exact.....
a Moonshot.....A home run hit so high and deep that it is said to travel toward the moon.

4.5 Spikes First STARS

I’m a big AR Torre fan and when I first heard about this book, I couldn’t wait. I didn’t read the blurb, truthfully, it was Alessandra and baseball – duh! I didn’t need to know anymore.

I’m glad I went in blind. I was taken by surprised in the beginning. My silly preconceived notions of things had me doing a double take and then smiling as we’re introduced to the heroine of this tale, Ty Rollins. I won't say anymore than Ty was a great heroine even when she was messing up.

 photo moonshot_zpsgtzynuyr.jpg

Chase Stern is a baseball god and one helluva sexy man. At first I was wary of him, let’s face it, he was a player (double entendre intended) but he soon won me over. His brief POVs were deep, insightful and perfect!

I was sucked in and read this book, practically in one sitting. It was sexy, intense, angst filled and consuming. This is not your usual sports romance and that’s what I liked the most about it. There was a mystery/suspense slant to the story, just another layer not the focal point, which I could have taken or left. While it worked and I soon figured out why it was part of the tale, it didn’t hook me. What did was Ty and Chase. Their second chance, once in a lifetime love story with the love of the game, the player, the field interwoven into the tale. It was so well done.

"I want every second we missed and a million more. And I'll give away the world to get it."

The turmoil, the mistakes on both sides and the angst. Oh the angst. It was not over the top but just the right amount of tension to have me clutching my chest, having to read on and hoping for the best.

Alessandra delivers another homerun, a true moonshot.

Masterfully written, a heartbreaking and beautifully poignantly tale of a love for the ages that’s not perfect but rather flawed and human but oh so right!

“Baseball isn’t supposed to be a game of life and death…”

“Moonshot” by Alessandra Torre was such a highly anticipated book for me. I had heard about it for such a long time that I could not wait to read it. I found it to be quite enjoyable. I do love Alessandra Torres’ imagination and storytelling. She has always had a way of making stories enthralling, yet so unique and “Moonshot” for me was no exception. It was such a riveting love story and suspenseful murder mystery set on the backdrop of America’s favourite pastime, Major League Baseball.

Tyler (Ty) Rollins is the daughter of the New York Yankees infamous closer, Frank Rollins. They have a very special bond and are extremely close. Ty lives and breathes baseball, everything from the dugout to the stadium to the clay. It is the greatest love of her life. She is part of the team, “one of the boys.” Baseball has been her everything since the death of her Mother when she was seven and went to live with her Dad; becoming a Yankee ball girl. She is home schooled and never misses a game. She even travels with the team to all their away games.

“The kiss should have never happened. If my father found out, if anyone did, it would be disastrous. Together, we would only bring chaos.”

When Ty is seventeen, she meets NY Yankee new recruit Chase Stern. He is an amazing ball player and everything the Yankees need in order to make and win the playoffs. Frank is not too impressed about the Yankees newest recruit and warns Ty to stay away from him. He has a bad reputation and is perceived as a womaniser and player, due to his most recent indiscretion that occurred whilst at his last team.

“I wanted to yank off his shirt and wrap it around my head, surgically affix it to my face, and smell just that, forever, even if it made me an elephant man freak in the process.”

Ty and Chase have an instant connection and nothing was going to stop the feelings and desire that each other were developing. Any seventeen year old girl who is warned by her father to stay away from the “bad boy” is clearly going to disobey him. Frank may as well have thrown her into his arms himself, it was inevitable.

“There was right, and there was wrong, and there was love. And love trumped it all.”

Things soon take a turn for the worst and Chase and Ty are torn apart. I’m actually not going to go into much detail of the events that occur, because the mystery is a big part of the story and I don’t want to give anything away. But I will say that Chase is once again in the midst of a media controversy.

I should say, that when I read a book I’m quite particular about what I like, I have my own weird idiosyncrasies; don’t we all! For me, I only like books written in the first person, from the characters point of view as otherwise I find it difficult to relate to the characters and therefore don’t enjoy the story as much. Moonshot was written from Ty’s point of view, but was written in the third person’s point of view (authors narration) when it came to Chase. I personally didn’t like that. I’m sure there is a reason as to why Alessandra Torre wrote that way, but because of it I just didn’t feel that pull and connection with the hero that I yearn for when reading a romance. Having said that I still found it compelling and loved that it was unlike any story I have read before. It was unique with a mix of love, passion, desire, forbidden love, angst and suspense. -

3.5 'my heart is broken' stars

Moonshot is such an angst ridden and painful read for me. So painful that it translate to 'What the hell am I doing this to myself?'.

Ty Rollins, 17, grew up with the Yankees with her father, she is the ball girl, the girl who live and breath baseball. When the the infamous Chase Stern joined the Yankees, she is more than elated and excited, she is over the moon, to finally have the superstar player that she admire in their own team.

Chase Stern, 22, is the baseball hotshot, a reckless risk taker. He couldn't care less about consequences of his action. When one scandal lead him to the Yankees, he is more than happy to be caught bedding a teammate's wife.

At the beginning of the story, I'm not much of a Chase's fan. He slept with a teammate's wife for God's sake, is like going against the ultimate bro code. So when he joined the Yankee and started hitting on Ty, a teammate's daughter, he sounds like a total douche. But... by the end of the story, I change my stance.

Ty, the heroine, oh what can I say about her. Too much. She started off as someone I admire, her love for baseball, her innocence and compassion. I thought she will have something good going with Chase, despite the guy questionable reputation. But I can see Chase's genuine love and respect for her. I can see them being such a lovely couple even though they try to keep their attraction a secret from the team, especially Ty's father. But, just because a misunderstanding that lead to her one time mistake, everything is freaking ruin.

They have something so sweet and pure going on and then everything become so tainted towards the end. Kill me now.

If I keep a clear head, maybe I try not to blame the heroine too much, maybe show some compassion to her situation. But I'm not being clear headed. I'm feeling too much emotion. I'm so angry. What took place during the second half of the book is even more painful to say the least and I'm losing some respect for Ty, for her cowardice, indecision and what-fucking-ever. Chase isn't a Saint either, but at least I'm still rooting for him even till the end.

As for the suspense that was mentioned in the blurb about women dying, that storyline feel disconnected to the characters. I don't even know what's the point of that particular subplot beside giving an easy out for Ty towards the end. I actually don't want to see her having an easy out, I want her to work for it, fight for it, sacrifice something for it.

Even though I'm feeling particularly overwhelmed and angry about things that happened here, I can't deny the fact that Alessandra Torre's writing is an awesome as always. She make me feel so much and being anxious to finish the story at one go. But is definitely not something I will want to reread again. Just too painful. Having to deal with triangle and third party is my ultimate pet peeves, that's the main reason I'm going with my rating.

Moonshot is a sexy, forbidden friends-to-lovers/second chance sports romance with an edge-of-your-seat suspenseful element. Go ahead and read that again... I'll wait. Yes, it is all of those things, but it's woven together seamlessly and deliciously by Alessandra Torre's stunning writing style. This story is intense and complex and unpredictable and so unbelievably addictive, but it's fluid and superbly executed in all of its layered perfection.

Ty Rollins might be considered the girl next door if "nextdoor" was Yankee Stadium. Her dad is a pitcher and she's spent her formative years as the Yankees' ball girl, traveling with the team, the players and staff her pseudo-family. Chase Stern is a rising baseball star, his unparalleled athleticism warring with his impulsive behavior to make for the quintessential bad boy with a notoriously marred reputation. He's the guy you'd never take home to daddy because daddy is his teammate and you're 17 and he's trouble. If the dynamic between this sexy baseball star and the teenager he's got in his sights doesn't SCREAM delicious, forbidden romance, I do not know what does.

Moonshot took me right back to my youth. First love, first heartbreak, that vulnerability and naivete that only exists in your teen years when you feel THOSE feelings for the first time, those first moments of fear and nervousness over sharing something intimate with someone else. And there's no pain quite like your first broken heart, the first time you feel betrayal, the loss of first love in the most unexpected, confusing circumstances. Torre superbly illustrates such a wide range of poignant emotions as the unpredictable romance between Ty and Chase evolves over time.

This story was such an unexpected tumultuous roller coaster ride. I didn't know whether to scream or cry or swoon or cry more. The sexual tension builds so exquisitely, but the push and pull that comes later is maddeningly brutal. There are moments within these pages so shattering, I felt breathless, moments so frustrating, I could cry, moments so sweet, my heart could burst. This is one of those books where I found myself rereading sentences over and over again because they were so beautifully simplistic yet so heavily emotional all at once. I've probably said it with every single Torre book, but I'll say it again... her writing has never been more beautiful than within these pages, her storytelling never more polished and brilliant than in this book.

Moonshot embodies everything a sports romance was ever meant to be. It's the perfect blend of romance, sex, conflict, drama, and angst against the backdrop of America's favorite past time. There is something magical, something beautiful, something profound about the legacy of American baseball. Baseball is its own entity in these pages. This isn't just a story where an author puts her bad boy in a cute uniform and calls it a sports romance. This is a story where these characters are fully immersed in this life, living and breathing the game. The love of the game is just as fervent as the epic love story woven through it.

Moonshot is so well developed, so perfectly paced, so exquisitely layered, I COULD NOT STOP READING. It physically pained me to put it down to go to work, to sleep, to do anything but be completely consumed by baseball, by Chase Stern and Tyler Rollins, by their broken world of love and pain and longing. What an addictive, spicy, unpredictable storyline. What a beautifully written, angsty, tumultuous journey these characters take. What a book! Seriously, what a damn fantastic book this is. Alessandra Torre knocks it out of the park with Moonshot. Game over, lights out, hands down my favorite book from Alessandra Torre to date.

Wow! I needed something to distract me and just entertain me, and this certainly did the job.

Chase and Tyler's love suffered the usual massive misunderstandings, heartbreak and separations, but true love always conquers all. This was a case of his feelings of chivalry ending badly for Chase. He did the right thing, but Tyler was feeling frustrated and confused and, well.... sh*t happened!

Fast forward a few years and Chase and Tyler may have that second chance at love that was snatched away from them when they were both so young and had so much to learn about life's fickle twists and turns.

I loved Tyler's relationship with her father: truly heartwarming!
I give this a 4.5, bumped up to a 5. I thoroughly enjoyed this addictive, well written page turner! (I also loved how the author took a standard trope (spurned female remains chaste until her true love returns) and switched things around. About time!)

A total hit, delivered by the pen of the very talented Alessandra Torre. Her words so bright, they blinded me, as if I was front and center at Yankee Stadium.

Ty Rollins grew up on a baseball field, always watching behind the dugout, living and breathing for the game. Her passion for the sport, became a trademark to her character and personality. She knew the ins and outs of baseball. When she was seventeen and working as a ball girl for her dad's team, the famous New York Yankees, a new player is traded into the organization. The bad boy of baseball, whose talents and stats, Ty have been obsessing about for a long time; she can hardly contain her excitement to meet him.

Chase Stern's dream, since he was a boy was to be part of the New York Yankees. His very impressive stats have allowed him to behave like the rockstar of baseball. He can pretty much get away with anything. His latest stunt actually got him to finally wear the coveted stripes he's been dreaming about, but he is about to get a lot more than what he bargained for.

 photo 4303ABA2-1ADE-4A7F-88BB-64D5B71146F2_zpsongncwrz.jpg

Chase had been lost in a world where everything is given to him in spades, but the moment he looks into Ty's eyes, he knows that he's finally found his home. Right there in the middle of his beloved turf, he's found the girl that with one look, and her passion for the game are finally making him feel complete, and he is willing to do anything for her.

Chase is five years older than Ty, and he has a very bad reputation, so the obstacles they will have to face will come one after the other.

Maybe the love for the game will be the very thing that makes or breaks the love between Chase and Ty.

Heartbreak, jealousy, and murder will forever change who they are, how they love each other, and how they feel about baseball...

Sweaty palms, heart beating fast, loud romance vibrating through my body, those were the side effects of Moonshot, I never wanted it to end.

Any time an author can surprise me the way Alessandra Torre did with this novel, it automatically qualifies as a winner in my eyes. Moonshot was so much more than what I expected. Forbidden love, lust and suspense, kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Moonshot is a fantastic summer read.

4.5 Stars!

Tyler “Ty” Rollins was a girl who lived and breathed baseball. Being the daughter of a closing pitcher, she traveled with the team as a bat-girl and it felt like a big family. At 17 years old, Ty’s life changed when she learned of the newest team member who would be wearing the famous pinstripes. It just so happened that the new shortstop was someone whose stats Ty knew by heart.

“I just stared. It was darker than his legs, thicker than I had imagined that organ would be, and it swung slightly when he chuckled.”
“Like what you see?”

At 25 yrs old, Chase Stern was baseball’s rising star; however, off the field Chase was known for his philandering ways. Upon being traded to the Yankees, Chase sets his sights on a girl who can throw a long ball from left field and doesn’t hold back with her emotions.

“There would never been another moment in life worth more of a risk.”

As Ty tries to maintain a distance from Chase, she realizes her attraction and curiosity are too strong. With Chase, he is too intrigued by Ty to just ignore her and what ensues is romantic and sexy. However, even though it seems real, when Ty makes a wrong choice, the consequences are worse than she expected.

“First loves were supposed to be flimsy and temperamental. They were supposed to burn bright and fade fast. They weren’t supposed to stick. They weren’t supposed to eat away at a man’s heart, his capacity for life.”

Four years pass until Ty and Chase are reunited; however, their lives have changed and Ty isn’t ready to give up all she has ever known. Chase is a man who knows what he wants and isn’t willing to stop his pursuit once he sees what Ty is trying to hide. What ensues is passionate and tender, but the momentum is leading up to a life-altering event.

“As a teenager, he had corrupted me. As a woman, he had ruined me.”

Adding to the tension are the mysterious murders purportedly linked to the wins or losses of the team. Each season, the murders are getting closer to home and Ty hopes for the only possible scenario that might end this reign of terror. After the last game, will it happen again?

In Moonshoot, Alessandra Torre’s writing is engaging and really sets the landscape for readers to feel connected to her characters through the good and challenging times. Immediately, I felt like I was immersed in Ty’s world feeling the familial bond between players and why Ty felt so comfortable with the team. With Chase, he instantly stole my heart! With the chapter order, alternating POVs and the shorter chapter length, these elements added to the suspense and fast pace of the plot.

Overall, Moonshot is a story about the mistakes we make in love but sometimes we get a second chance to make it all right.

“Look to the moon when you swing,” he instructed. “That’s what you want. A ball that disappears into it. One that goes to the moon and past. A moonshot.”

4.75 Sexy Suspenseful Stars!

 photo FE91CB54-9ABD-4981-A37C-B1D17F7D6147_zpsatuett8d.jpg

Moonshot is a standalone, suspenseful romance built around the great sport of baseball. When I'd seen Alessandra Torre was writing a book in the baseball theme, I couldn't wait for this to hit my kindle! She didn't disappoint in offering up her readers a book filled with angsty forbidden-type romance built around a bit of a who-done-it suspense plot!

Tyler Rollins (heroine) has lived her life around baseball. Her mother dying at a young age, she's been the tag-along batgirl for each professional Major League ball team her dad was a relief pitcher for. Especially the New York Yankees- her favorite team of all! Catching batting practice, organizing equipment, batgirl, she lives for baseball- reciting every player's position and their stats. Every player like a big brother...until Chase Sterns.

 photo 6B9F0F81-55E4-4469-9008-BE362E86E413_zpsdje6mj6t.jpg

Wow! I really enjoyed this forbidden sports romance! If Alessandra Torre can do anything, she has a great ability to make a trope that on the surface seems common but turn it into a twisty-turvy suspenseful ride, making her reader feverishly turn the pages for that looming answer! Can they hide their feelings? Make it work regardless of their age difference? When young women suddenly start turning up murdered each year the Yankees fail to win the World Series, there's a new level of pressure on all team members and employees involved in the organization...win the World Series.

I loved the suspense theme of Moonshot. Trickle-fed chapter by chapter. One thing that was a bit different for me was the chapters alternated from the heroine first person point of view to the hero third person point of view. It felt a bit choppy in the beginning because of this format but I gradually became more accustomed to it as the book progressed. That is seriously the only issue I had with the book. Well executed, suspenseful, sexy hot and just all-around well written knowledge of the sport baseball. Well done!

4.5 ★★★★ Chase Stars

Genre: Sports Romance/Suspense
Type: Standalone
POV: Shifting

"I love you, I want you. Every day for the rest of my life."

Tyler (Ty) Rollins; after her mother's death at a very young age was forced to travel with her father's baseball team. She hated it at first but soon she discovered that she loved it and she believed baseball was her family and life. Her relationship with her father was incredible; she was the team's baler and she loved everything about it.

Chase Stern; was the best of the best when it came to baseball. Every woman wanted him and every team knew that having him on their team meant winning. Chase loved the game but his dream was always to be a New York player for the Yankees until he finally got it. Little did he know that his life will be changed when he meets the daughter of one of the most famous players of the team.

Ty has always been fascinated with Chase; living in the world of baseball that's all she knew all her life scores, titles, statistics and she knew Chase will someday make history. When she found out he was traded to be part of her father's team she was beyond excited; until she wasn't. Ok she was immediately intimated by him and he fell head over heal for her. Their attraction was unstoppable and even her father knew it way before this happened.

"Our kiss had energy, it was a battle-one fought with gentle teases, exploratory touches, and passion."

Their sweet love and attraction was fantastic I absolutely adored Chase with all of my heart. This book had a bit of angst right in the middle and a mysterious killer that was on the loose that had Ty extremely nervous. There was a twist on the story that left me a bit heart broken and devastated. Overall this was a fantastic, enjoyable and a fast read. If you are a fan of sports and a sexy read you will enjoy this one.

With Moonshot, Alessandra Torre delivers a compelling and addictive mix of romance, sexiness and suspense. It’s a passionate love story and a murder mystery which unravels in the high-stakes world of major league baseball—where someone is always watching and the line between stardom and downfall is separated by a single bad decision. This combination of elements manipulated by Torre’s deft hand makes this novel stand out from the many releases we see, making it a perfect summer must-read.

“Love has its own timeline, Tyler. Remember that.”

Tyler Rollins was the daughter of a Yankee legend, who grew up among the guys, a life in the dugout, the familiar scent of grass and dirt creating a one-of-a-kind magic she relished. From city to city, stadium to stadium, this is the life she loved. The game was everything.

At seventeen, she met baseball’s newest star, Chase Stern. He was everything the Yankees needed, and everything she’d been told to stay away from. He was a storm of conflict and danger, a definite distraction she didn’t need. Their connection was immediate and unstoppable.

“The kiss should have never happened. If my father found out, if anyone did, it would be disastrous. Together, we would only bring chaos.”

Their relationship ignited in the dark, in secret, in defiance of promises made to stay away. It was passion and love with turbulent turns and truths that should have been a warning, but to them, it felt right… once-in-a-lifetime right.

“She shouldn’t trust him. He should have the strength to stay away. There was no way any of this would end well.”

But then everything fell apart. One night delineating a before and after to her life. Everything good splintered, the team started losing and every year, a new girl would die. Blood was staining the legacy she’d devoted her life to and without a win, the deaths wouldn’t stop.

“I needed the curse to stop. I needed a year to pass without blood marring our pinstripes. I needed a World Series win.”

To make complicated matters more complicated, love and passion duel betrayal and responsibility, and Chase is once again the center of a storm she may not survive. Especially when Ty finds herself staring death in the face.

“There was right, and there was wrong, and there was love. And love trumped it all.”

So much happens in the story and I don’t want to divulge any more. I loved the way the story unwound, the format of short, impactful chapters, the love story that was both so right and wrong, the suspense behind the ‘whodunit’ aspect. Alessandra Torre is a fantastic, versatile writer and this latest novel once again proves her prowess. There are so many unforeseen twists that make it such an exciting read. I loved it and hope you will too!
