The Amazing Race Team Challenge - Loitering Layabouts (1)

That's 'cause we're all used to intense challenges and have awesome books to choose from! 😉
Hope to be on more with you guys, it's been fun - but I think I'm gonna take a few weeks off from challenges after BINGO is done...I've got a couple individual ones I need to focus on.
I'll be back in a few hours to check for Jane's post on whether I need to fix posts.

Final Task: Average Rating of 4.2 or Higher

Breaker of Chains by Jordan L. Hawk
Page Count: 163/GR Ki..."
Hi Michaelle - you need to update this edition to the earlier Kindle version :)
-msg 1036

I am nearly finished my #5 book and hope to fit one more in :)
(LOL - also trying to pull together a board pack to be issued later today. Hope I don't have any mistakes in there!! 🤪)

COMPLETION - book 6

Secret in Houston
Pages: 177 GR Kindle
How it qualifies: 4.27 rating
Rating: 3.5 stars
Would have liked a bit more friction (as inferred in the precis) but it was just super-cute and sweet instead! And the MCs were really rational and reasonable. (What the??) 🤪

Michaelle #9 - Spencer Cohen, Book Three - Reading: msg 1101
Is that right?

I listened to the other version (which I have marked "read") but I used the 1st version in the post.
Edit: Nevermind...I see the problem.

The Beginning by Victoria Sue

Hoping to finish this one in the next 20 minutes!!

Also, if I'd actually read some of these books I'd probably have gotten more done...so if we lose by like 1 or 2 books I'm gonna be so bummed and apologize ahead of time.

Dang, and I thought I read fast!

Anyway - just finished my final audio :) Cute one.

Thanks Michaelle, Shannon and Lisa for a great ride 🤗 There's no way I would have EVER read so much without this group of teamies!! And we found some great new books along the way!
Awesome effort!

Dang, and I thought I read fast!"
If I don't have to pay attention to the details I can read a little over 100 pgs an hour. If it's for some kind of hunt or I'm really into the little details, it's much, much slower.
Kind of like my life actually. Do everything way too fast a little f'ed up. Hmmm, weird!

And like Jane, I tend to do other things (laundry, cooking, cleaning, walking the dog, playing Farmville!!) when I'm listening so I love audios.
Gonna take a break from them for a minute tho. Thankfully my library or hoopla had quite a few to choose from but I'm at my Hoopla limit and it's only the 10th!
Well, I do have some ARCs to finish...Gregory Ashe here I come!

I have 37 books for you for this last task and quite honestly, that's crazy! You were the first team I checked - don't know how far I will get so probably won't have a final until something in the morning.

"
I need to work this stuff out! I can only really do emojis. Gifs take me FOREVER to work out 🤪

Am posting on our old thread until the new one is available.
We made some decisions last time like the list with over 100 books, decade to read, our birthdates etc but we do need to update some decisions for this time.
It would be great to get any categories decided where we have to group decide so we can start reading when the cat is called as we have a spread of time zones.
Looks like we need to decide on an author for us all to read and also a series where we all have to read a different book in the same series.
There is another cat where tou need to read a book 5 or higher as well, but that can be different series.
Can you list an author in preference for us to read and also any series that you are reading which still have books to read. We each need a different book in the series.

Cambridge Fellows by Charlie Cochrane. 12 full books. I have read 1 to 6.
Haunted Souls by Pandora Pine. 8 books out. Book 9 is due next week. I have read books 1 to 8 so would need book 9
Nicky & Noah Mystery Series by Joe Cosentino. 10 books. I have read 1 to 7
Mahu by Neil Plakcy. Looks to be 11 books. I have only read #1
Authors.
we did Eli easton last time.
I am open to new authors but please no tentacles or Klune
NR Walker
Monthly challenge category
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I like 1,6,7.
If I read 6 right, that would be any book as long as there is a ebook avail. Do you read it the same way?
Please remember the 150 page minimum

Great Idea posting here!
Author:
happy with NR Walker
But also Lily Morton
Series:
I love Pandora Pine's Cold Case Psychic so I'd happily try this other series of hers... Haunted Soul. Would be book 1 obviously ;)
I haven't read any of the other series or authors you listed Lisa except Neil Placky and wasn't a fan of the one book I read.
Monthly challenge
Yep - an ebook qualifies for Cat 6.
I agree with 1, 6 and 7. Could also do 8 with those colours on the cover :)

I haven't had time to read through all the tasks for this round, so I'm not sure if they are the same as last round?

I haven't had time to read through all the tasks..."
Alot are, some new.
With old cats from round 1 would everybody be ok with previous decisions, not author or series.

1. Same author
9. A series where we can each read a different book in
27. Pick a year prior to 2018 to read from. All players read same year
28. Link for your tbr shelf
33. Team decide on a sub genre. Last time I think we had MM Romance
41. Books with over 10k ratings. We lucked out with this one last time. There arent many MM books.
Any suggestions?
49. Read a book from the same month /year
53. Read a book from a teammates hometown.
We had UK, Australia, Vegas and Oregan.
Need to decide on 1
55. Read a book from a country outside the US.
I would suggest UK as this has a lot of scope.
54. Decide beach or mountains
56. A list with over 100 books
64. A continent that none of us live on. i think this only leaves Africa, Asia and South America. I have asked if New Zealand falls under Australia continent.
71. Pick a team and read a members book.
Looks like teams 1 & 2 are completely MM readers.
72. Pick a decade. We were 60s and 70s.
Shall we go with 70s again?
74. Teammates birth month
75. Book title starts with the same letter.
76. Specific item on cover
79. Same romance trope
80. Pages number for year of birth. 271 pages
84. Monthly category.
I like 1, 6 or 7. Think 6 would be easiest
88. Boat, car or motorbike on cover
90. Sequential months
92 future or past.
Would rather have past
93. List with less than 100 books
94. Sequential years
95. Animal on cover.
I would think wolf might be easiest.

NR Walker, Lily Morton, Alice Winters, etc. Wait for the others...
Just read that Michaelle isn't a big NR Walker fan.
A mix from last round: Eli Easton, Kim Fielding, Mary Calmes, Alice Winters, Megan Derr, Jordan Castillo Price, Jordan L Hawk, AJ Sherwood, Lucy Lennox, Sloane Kennedy, Charlie Cochet, Lily Morton, LA Witt, Annabeth Albert, Felice Stevens, Lane Hayes, KM Neuhold, Roan Parrish
9. A series where we can each read a different book in
Pandora Pine ?
I'm not a massive MPREG fan however happy to read one ~ those authors have a heap of books in each series... Eg Mercy Hills Pack or those Spiced Omega books or ones by Susie Hawke.
It pops up again:
82. Each teammate reads a different book from the same series.
27. Pick a year prior to 2018 to read from. All players read same year
Anything back to 2009 I guess, but in reality - 2017?
28. Link for your tbr shelf
pifm assuming we can select a particular shelf
33. Team decide on a sub genre. Last time I think we had MM Romance
Leave as MM Romance
41. Books with over 10k ratings. We lucked out with this one last time. There arent many MM books.
🤣 Probably TJ Klune!
Here are some on my list:
simon-vs-the-homo-sapiens-agenda
aristotle-and-dante-discover-the-secrets-of-the-universe
carry-on (Rainbow Rowell)
red-white-royal-blue
they-both-die-at-the-end
the-gentleman-s-guide-to-vice-and-virtue
captive-prince etc
the-foxhole-court
autoboyography
openly-straight
Luck_in_the_Shadows
Him and Us (Sarina Bowen)
Hero (Perry Moore)
highly-illogical-behavior
The Magpie Lord
Cut & Run and some of the others in that series
Promises (Marie Sexton)
49. Read a book from the same month /year
something in 2020 :) May? June?
53. Read a book from a teammates hometown.
We had UK, Australia, Vegas and Oregan.
I say UK, but I have books in Australia as well. Not sure about Vegas and Oregon.. Actually - didn't Shannon move to her dead house? Was that still Oregon?
55. Read a book from a country outside the US.
I would suggest UK as this has a lot of scope.
Agree.
54. Decide beach or mountains
Easy. Mountains since I seem to have some set there although I am reading one of them right now!
56. A list with over 100 books
MMR Members Choice Winners
64. A continent that none of us live on. i think this only leaves Africa, Asia and South America. I have asked if New Zealand falls under Australia continent.
Yeah - this one is yuk.
71. Pick a team and read a members book.
Looks like teams 1 & 2 are completely MM readers.
There's a third one being formed with Theresa, Emilie and Madelyn
72. Pick a decade. We were 60s and 70s.
Shall we go with 70s again?
I can find books in both decades so whichever suits the rest of you - I'll prob go mf.
MMR Pub pre 1970
MMR pub 1970s
74. Teammates birth month
Jane - August;
Lisa - December;
Michaelle - November;
Shannon - October
...August is dreadful generally as I have found in the current ScavHunt - so any of the other three :)
75. Book title starts with the same letter.
H or M for me at the moment
76. Specific item on cover
Went with Bare Chest last time. That works for me again this time ;) Other suggestion has a hand or part thereof.
79. Same romance trope
Used 'Friends to lovers'
Noted that we should go with 'Men With Kids' if it pops up again.
Other option was 'Fake Boyfriends'.
80. Pages number for year of birth. 271 pages?
?91. Add up the years of the teammates' births and each teammate reads a book with that minimum number of pages. For example, teammates were born in 75, 83, 87 and 94 - each teammate reads a book at least 339 pages long. No pass for this task.
84. Monthly category.
I like 1, 6 or 7. Think 6 would be easiest
Happy with any of these.
88. Boat, car or motorbike on cover
😕 Painful. Guessing motorbike, but need to look into it.
90. Sequential months
tbd
92 future or past.
Lisa: past
Jane: can go either way. Probably more future but I'm easy.
93. List with less than 100 books
MM books published in February, April, August 2020, December 2019.
94. Sequential years
2017, 2018, 2019, 2020.
95. Animal on cover.
Lisa: wolf might be easiest.
Jane: or dog :) I have both.
10. Read 4 books by authors' who write under more than one name (Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb).
- LAW/Lauren Gallagher/Lori Witt
- Lisa Henry/DiscontentedWinter
- Joel Abernathy/LC Davis
- Macy Blake/Poppy Dennison
- Rinda Elliot/Dani Worth
- Josh Lanyon/Diana Killian
- Avery Blake/Jaclyn Osborne
- Nealy Wagner/Sarina Bowen
- Andrew Grey - Dirk Greyson
- Susan Hawke - Susi Hawke
- Austin Bates - Aiden Bates
- SE Jakes - Stephanie Tyler
- Sloan Johnson/Quinn Ward
- Lissa Kasey - Sam Kadence
- Brandon Witt - Rosalind Abel

ANYWAY...
I'm ok with NRW, there's only a book or two on my NOPE list for reasons...so long as those aren't on the table I'm good.
I've got no preference for any of the other categories; going with the flow this round. Just, please, maybe no RockStars (again) or MC clubs?
Gonna go look now for the new thread because I think I forgot to click notify. Sigh...

1. Same author: NR Walker, Lily Morton, Alice Winters, Sloane Kennedy
9. Pandora Pine is good with me.
19. Shannon's Read Shelf
27. 2017
28. Shannon's To-Read Shelf
29. Same Profession: Maybe Lawyer or Doctor?
33. Sub-Genre: M/M Romance
49. Same Month and Year: June 2020
50. Same Location: USA?
51. Same Author Different Book: NR Walker, Lily Morton, Alice Winters, Sloane Kennedy
52. Same Cover Color: Blue seems most popular
53. Teammate Home Town: I'm in Portland, Oregon (Yes in my dead house that is currently stage 2 in fire evacuation meaning pack up and be ready so.....) Can we use UK and Australia seeing as their countries and not towns?
54. Beach/Mountain: Mountain
55. Outside US: UK
56. Over 100 on List: Best of Gay Romance
58. Year Joined RRRC: How do I find this?
59. NOT MPG Romance: Oh shit!

64. Not Continent of Teammate: Asia, Africa, South America, Antarctica
70. Same Sub-Genre Dif Auth: M/M Romance
72. 70's - Me
73. Same Author: NR Walker, Lily Morton, Alice Winters, Sloane Kennedy

79. Romance Trope: Friends to Lovers or Fake Boyfriend
80. Different Decades: 90's, 00's, 10's, 20 (I'm easy)
82. Pandora Pine again?
88. boat, plane, car or motorcycle: Car maybe?
90. Sequential Months: Feb, Mar, Apr, May

94. Sequential Years: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020
95. Same Animal: Wolf
96. Sun or Moon: Moon
99. 5 Fav Books:
Illumination
Complementary Colors
Rocket Science
Digging Deep
Trusting Cade

Last round we could - and home towns in the US were taken back to States...
OMG - hope you are ok over there Shannon! I saw you were getting those fires - really hope its rains and douses the full area under threat! So stressful.
Don't worry about finding the year you joined RRRC - I have all our years listed in my answers :) (And I don't think you left and rejoined since the last round ;)
Lets stick with that nice short list that Shannon has down for the same author :
NR Walker, Lily Morton, Alice Winters, Sloane Kennedy
given Michaelle is ok with NR Walker.
(I don't recall which books you had the nope against from last time, but I know there are a couple of hers I wont buy simply due to the theme. She has a super-broad writing spread.)
Happy to avoid the rockstars and bikie clubs.
Missed the profession - could go military or law enforcement officer (last rounds pick) as well.

Glad you aren't at risk of fires right now Shannon!

South America
Asia"
Is this for the continent that we don't live on?? Lisa has asked about New Zealand being separate from Australia as well.
I'm guessing Asia is the preference but need to really check them out. Is Egypt in Asia?
...It would appear from Google that Egypt spans both Africa and Asia - so it sits on both continents...

LOL - this is always a hard one!
Throw in Michaelle who has read pretty much every book there is, and its difficult to find recommendations!
