First person perspective book about teen boy completely lacking in empathy. I don't remember the plot.

A girl the main character likes has an old dog that I think he poisons out of some belief he's doing her a favor. I'm not sure if the girl finds out what he did, but they don't stay friends.

The main character is made to hang out with a little boy while parents are having a party. They play a game of "hot and cold" that culminates in main character getting the little boy to touch him inappropriately. He tells this story to either the girl or another friend.

Thank you for clarifying! I was so startled by the memory of the book that I felt an impulse toward caution.

Rainbowheart | 28688 comments Sounds like the boy is a sociopath, but I've done some searches with related keywords and nada has turned up.

Do you think the book was from the USA, or a different country?

message 8: by Eldritch (new)

Eldritch Cheese | 38 comments Fairly certain it wasn't American. Insofar as memory can be trusted (the standard disclaimer for this group, really), it wouldn't surprise me if the book had been translated into English.
