Hello! I just stumbled upon the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge and thought it would motivate me to read more this year. I am a high school history teacher, so I read a lot of American history texts, specifically to diversify the historical narrative my students are exposed to. I like reading biographies and thrillers, mostly, but I’m hoping to incorporate some other genres into my reading list this year.

Hi, I am Jess! I have quarter-assed doing these challenges for about 3 years, but am committed to actively participating and completing it this year. I used to love reading, but the past few years my anxiety wouldn't let me focus enough to get through a chapter let alone a book. I am hopeful using this list will help keep me motivated and on target - and help me get back to my favorite pass time!

I attempted the 2020 Popsugar challenge but started in the middle of the year so didn’t really get much done. This year I want to try and read at least 25 books that will tick most of the challenges boxes, and another 5 that I choose at random.

Super excited about it - I love reading and discovering new books/authors but through this challenge I am hoping I will open up to different genres and writing styles, and understand certain social issues or topics better.

Hi! I'm Amber, I live in Virginia and currently work in IT (K-12). I really enjoy reading but sometimes find myself easily distracted by other media and end up going through phases of reading a lot and then not picking up a book for weeks or months. Since I discovered the yearly GoodReads challenge I've found it has been helpful in keeping me motivated to read more. When I discovered this group I thought the increased challenge of the prompts would help to motivate me even further. I also have a terrible habit of taking too long to decide on which books to start or feeling overwhelmed by my "to read" list (which is admittedly ridiculously long). I thought this challenge could not only motivate me to read even more, but also motivate me to pull out books from my "to read" list that have been gathering dust. Ideally I'd like to get through 52 books this year but I think that may be a bit of a stretch so I will start with just the 40 book challenge and see where it goes from there. :)
