Well done....you'd better choose again;) It's only the 8th!! ;)

message 103: by Carolyn (new)

Carolyn | 9836 comments I've finished my RETURN book - another thrilling instalment of the Dresden Files: Grave Peril by Jim Butcher 4.5★

review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Now back to the Summer challenge :)

message 104: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Yay! I finished my Exchange book. This is my first finished challenge book this year so I'm really excited about it :)

The Last Dragonslayer (The Chronicles of Kazam, #1) by Jasper Fforde The Last Dragonslayer by Jasper Fforde 3 stars (how do you guys do that star symbol?)

I really wanted to give this four stars because it was cute and creative. When is Goodreads going to give us the half star option? It was a fun book and I'm glad I read it. I'm definitely going to read the next one.

message 105: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn | 3569 comments Hey Sarah, I know there's something involving numbers and symbols to produce a star, but I don't know what it is. When I want a star, I insert a special character ★ or copy and paste from someone else's post!

And I do give half stars - I round down for my GR rating ie. a 4.5 star becomes a 4 star, but I have a 4.5 star bookshelf, so that if I'm looking at all my 4 star reads in "My Books", I can look across at the bookshelves and see which ones are on my 4.5 star bookshelf. Just in case that option would work for you!

You type the number then & and # followed by 9733 (no spaces)

That's a really good idea. The lack of half stars has been very frustrating. I've been trying to base it on if I intend to read the next book, assuming it's a series, but that's really not working. I like your idea.

Cassandra Page (cassandrapage) I finished my return review -- I was lucky enough to get an ARC of Eleven Weeks (Crazy in Love #2) by Lauren K. McKellar by Lauren K. McKellar, which is just as well. It turns out it comes out on 28 January, so I hadn't allowed myself much time to read it!

Kerri Green Yah! I completed a challenge for 2015. I did take it easy and chose two easy children's books but it's had the desired effect and I'm keen to sign up for another challenge.
I finished my Return: Blueback: A Contemporary Fable
and
Exchange: A Fox Called Sorrow
Now I'm off to sign up for another challenge.

Congrats Jennifer. I am still waiting on one of mine from the library:)

message 130: by MaryG2E (new)

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) | 934 comments With January well advanced (today is the 19th) and neither of my chosen books yet available from the library, I have a feeling I'm not going to complete this challenge in the time frame. I'm still working my way quite happily through the Quarterly Summer Challenge, so perhaps I'll let the January Challenge slide...reluctantly, a little sadly :(

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) Dunno if I'm gonna get to my exchange. Only halfway through The Scar, can't see myself finishing it in the next 10 days. Gotta spend too long digesting China Mieville's world building :P

I hear you Liam, while I am totally in awe of the complexity that China Mieville creates it is so NOT a fast read!

message 137: by Deb (new)

Deb Omnivorous Reader | 1929 comments I finished my EXCHANGE read while I was in Fiji;
The Gospel of Loki by Joanne Harris

And my review is here;
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

It was not a bad book, not anywhere near the five stars that the 'readers also liked' but I am glad I read it. I was going to anyway one day.

I have started my RETURN
Color A Natural History of the Palette by Victoria Finlay

and so far it is exciting and charming!

Review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Completed January's challenge:)

message 142: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 2163 comments EXCHANGE: I gave The Signature of All Things 5★ and other readers enjoyed Claire of the Sea Light. I enjoyed it too, but for me it was a 3★ read.

RETURN: I gave Wolf Hall / Bring Up the Bodies 5★ and I picked A Place of Greater Safety as my return, but it's 21 January and I don't realistically think I can finish a 750 page book by the end of the month. Tackling this problem laterally, I have picked up The Assassination of Margaret Thatcher and read the eponymous story. Different, but I liked it. The rest of the collection will have to wait till I get a full copy.

Challenge complete.
