Valerie | 440 comments The Ruby Red Trilogy is by Kerstin Geir. There are three books all having jewel names/ Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue, and Emerald Green. Excellent read. Can also count towards book originally written in another language, and it was made into a movie.

I also finished reading a new book that I picked up on a whim on the Kindle Daily Deal last week: Dating the Devil Dating the Devil by Lia Romeo by Lia Romeo. It's a real cute book with a neat twist.

A popular author's first book: Gentle Pirate. Her style, but the characters have changed a lot along the time. And enjoyable reading anyway.

message 423: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 440 comments I am moving along pretty well...faster than I expected, but with some of the weekends having snow and bad weather, it made for perfect reading days. Just recently finished Binding Ties (Sentinel Wars, #9) by Shannon K. Butcher . I used this for book by a woman, and I also used it for the March Challenge of book with a green cover. Really enjoyed this book, as I do pretty much anything by this author. Did the book in little over a day I enjoyed it so much. Lost of action, and romance.

It just came out this month, so it would also go for book that came out this year, if someone is interested. It has magic in it, and takes place in rural Midwest Missouri (if you live in small town Missouri near KC, this could be your hometown book!), so could go for those categories as well.

The second half will take me much longer to complete. I "read" quite a few books by listening to them, but most of the rest of my book choices aren't available in audio format from my public library. I'm reading the Bible as my mom's favorite book, and that will take me most of the year to finish. I probably won't start the Christmas book until after Thanksgiving.

Good job, AlegnaB!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Well done AlegnaB - I haven't even thought to count how many I've done, I've just been checking them off as I go. Good luck with the second half! (I'm with you - I won't read the Christmas one until after Thanksgiving.)

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Just updated my list for "Book based entirely on its cover" and went ahead and counted. I'm exactly half-way at 26/52, oddly enough. I have a few low-hanging fruit left (waiting on publication of must-read books) but quite a few of the ones left will be the really tough ones (for me).

message 438: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 440 comments I added a folder to my Goodreads account so I could keep track of my challenge books. That way, if I need to, I can see the count easily.

message 439: by AlegnaB † (last edited Mar 23, 2015 06:25AM) (new)

AlegnaB † (alegnab) Same to you, Jennifer. And thanks, but I did pick the easiest to read first. I like to get a quick start on challenges to avoid discouragement.

I update the numbers on my progress line at the top of my list each time I finish a book for the challenge, but I also use the tracker I created at https://www.goodreads.com/challenges/... . I enjoy using trackers and seeing how far ahead I am. I don't like seeing that I'm behind, so I try not to let that happen.

Me too, AlegnaB. I hate to get behind with anything, it's not just reading. I can get like a woman possessed if I get behind as I want to catch up. :)

message 446: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 440 comments I am keeping a list in an excel file, and as mentioned before donating to our local library. I can now say that I have done 40 books on this list (48 total). As I mentioned before, I never tracked how many books I did in the past. I just read. I knew I did at least two books a week; but it looks like my library is going to get more money from me than I thought! (I pledged a $1 a book).

I am really enjoying the variety of this list, but I think I am enjoying the scavenger hunt feel the best. The other challenges in this group are also a lot of fun, and I am enjoying exploring new author's and new genres.
