Sarah By the way Julie, I'll also be starting the fascinating looking CONTEMPORARY novel Poet's Cottage on audio. Past and Present in one month. I'm so efficient! ;)

Ryan I've got an hour and forty five left to finish Oryx and Crake. There's about 20 pages to go but I'm quite drunk. Does it count if I don't remember it?

LAID BACK

1. Historical Fiction: Hannah and Emil or In Falling Snow
2. Modern Aussie Classic: Cloudstreet
3. Historical Romance: The Wild Girl
4. Fantasy: Bitter Greens
5. Young Adult: Looking for Alibrandi
6. Non Fiction: Sawbones, Saddle Burns & Soothing Balms
7. Romance: The Winter Sea
8. Mystery: The Husband's Secret or Thornwood House
9.Contemporary: Darkness on the Edge of Town
10.Humour: Liar Bird or The Rosie Effect
11.Womens Fiction : Wildflower Hill
12.Literary Fiction: Oscar and Lucinda

This will be the only challenge (apart from the GR 2015 reading challenge) that I am going to take part in this year. All of these books I already own, either paperback or Kindle. Four of the authors are either currently or previously from my local area ;one I know personally and another two I met at an author event last year. I wanted to make this challenge as personal as possible hopefully to help with motivation and getting through some of my TBR. One book a month I am hoping is very achievable. Enjoying reading everyones lists.

Um just thinking .... with 9 aussie female authors in there maybe I should also try for a goal of 10 on the Australian Womens Writers Challenge too since I will be reading them anyway for this???? ... yes, yes what a good idea!! Signed up to just read 10 but not review at this stage. That is officially my first (and potentially my only?) good idea for 2015 lol getting in early ;-)

message 174: by Sarah (last edited Dec 31, 2014 05:38PM) (new)

Sarah I'm doing Bitter Greensand Thornwood Houseas well. The Winter Seais wonderful. I had no idea Susanna Kearsley was Australian. The sequel, The Firebird, was my favorite.

Correction, apparently I had the wrong version of The Winter Sea :(

Hey Jen, if you need any help on making your either/or decisions, I haven't read Hannah and Emil, but I did just read In Falling Snow last month and really enjoyed it. Also, I read Thornwood House and enjoyed it (slightly spooky, but deliciously so!), but I read and really enjoyed The Husband's Secret and think Liane Moriarty is a very clever author.

That's my two cents, for what it's worth!
