Congratulations, Winter, for getting as far as you did!

Beth, you're super close. Do you think you'll be able to squeeze two more in?

message 1454: by Heather (new)

Heather (bigaitchc) Am now an emotional wreck having just finished Three-and-a-Half Heartbeats by Amanda Prowse, she is fast becoming one of my favourite authors - many tissues needed!

Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments Thank you! Really looking forward to having all the yearlies from the beginning next year, hoping to finish them then. This was probably my favorite. Or I SPY.

message 1458: by Heather (new)

Heather (bigaitchc) Thank goodness for the wild and wet weather in Cornwall, plenty of time for reading. Enjoyed a variation of Snow White Fawn Brown by Zoe McAuley, very well written - 4 books to go :)

message 1462: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Nice going! What did you two think of A Zombie Christmas?

message 1463: by Megan BG (new)

Megan BG (meganbgreads) | 1562 comments It was cute. I wouldn't say it was the best written, but for the most part, easy to follow.

message 1464: by Merja (new)

Merja (merjafrob) | 488 comments Yeah, it was cute. And short. I gave it 3 stars but not sure if I'm going to change it to 2.. I usually give 3 stars when not sure what to think about the book.

message 1465: by Joe (new)

Joe | 110 comments It looks like I am finishing the year at 24/26

message 1466: by Cassandra (new)

Cassandra | 5832 comments Very nice, Joe!

message 1467: by Heather (new)

Heather (bigaitchc) Number 49 done - What Have I Done? by Amanda Prowse, considering I like her books this was disappointing.
A Christmassy book next, nearly there......

49/52

message 1468: by Beth (last edited Dec 24, 2015 12:31AM) (new)

Beth | 60 comments Cassandra wrote: "Beth, you're super close. Do you think you'll be able to squeeze two more in?"

Yes! I finished Gunnar's Daughter by Sigrid Undset tonight for my "U" last name author, and now only have one more to go. I think for 2016 I may be a little less crazy and not go whole hog with three separate groups. But thanks for letting me do that this year!

77/78

message 1469: by Winter, Group Reads (new)

Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments I didn't even know she had this book! (Undset). Embarassing :P

message 1470: by Beth (new)

Beth | 60 comments Winter wrote: "I didn't even know she had this book! (Undset). Embarassing :P"

I didn't know about her at all until this challenge when I substituted this short book for a longer book by a different "U" author so I could read it by the end-of-year deadline. Glad I did - it was good!

message 1471: by Winter, Group Reads (new)

Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments Haha but I'm Norwegian, it's one of our most well known authors. Weird I haven't heard of this one.

Her most well known work is Kristin Lavransdatter.

message 1472: by Winter, Group Reads (new)

Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments I have added it to tbr, it looked good, glad you liked it :)

message 1473: by Beth (new)

Beth | 60 comments And... finished! (78/78)

My final book was Soul Catcher by Frank Herbert, which I didn't care for. Oh well... it was a good challenge. :)

message 1474: by Heather (last edited Dec 25, 2015 08:21AM) (new)

Heather (bigaitchc) So, I had to read a book with V in the title, I chose Christmas in Vermont: A Very White Christmas - if it wasn't Christmas I would rate it 1 star, dear me - THE most predictable, sugary sweet drivel I've read all year. Take my advice - don't waste several hours of your life, eat maple syrup mixed with sugar and honey, same effect but quicker

50/52

message 1475: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 868 comments I updated message 109; 24/26 books. I need P and I.

message 1476: by Heather (new)

Heather (bigaitchc) And so, after reading The Illegal Gardener I am proud to say I have completed the A-Z challenge twice. This is amazing for me. Last year I read 10 books, I set myself 20, the raised my target to 26 for this year and have stunned myself by doubling that total - equating to one book a week.
I am so pleased I found these challenge groups, they have changed my reading habit, opened up new authors to me and I have rediscovered my love of books.
Thank you for all the support and looking forward to 2016
