Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Wow, guys! We are off to a flying start!

I've got a book in three of those categories but am not home until Monday to grab them. I've got a few BRs scheduled for this weekend but will try and prioritise those books for Monday onwards

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments Ok I'm planning to finish this Cresent City book .. one of these days. Hoping to get 5+ Reviews up and posted by tomorrow. Still Working my way through Johanna Lindsey's greatest hits but fixing to start pulling out Jude Deveraux and starting to refill the spreadsheet 80-90's so have no fear I should be able to hit all those years again with her books. When I run out of that I'll switch Kathleen Woodwiss who is also late 80's-90's writer.

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Woohoo, well done Tiera.

Sorry my reading has been a bit slow. I planned in SO many books for this weekend and haven't finished any of them, yet. I'm just not super feeling like reading for long stretches, atm. I will finish my two BRs, Red Sister and On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, today though. I still need to work on a few Netgalley books as well, but will work on some older reads inbetween, to help us work through the board :)

☆☆Hannah☆☆ | 6596 comments I plan to read the Little house books this week. They were originally published in the 30 & 40's but can be used for the 70's. Should I use them for the 60-79 square or the 30-59? I know that Dannii is working on classics so I want to make sure that we aren't over using some squares. The other team has caught up to us in points so I want to make sure we are using what we actually need in order to fill the board.

message 106: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Hannah, I'd say either as we have 5 books in each category so both will be fine :) Could they count for for any dates in the 90s though? We only have 3 books in those categories so may be best to use them there, if possible?

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments I’m sorry I got busy yesterday but I’ll have my reviews up today! Well except for that Sarah j Maas book it’s extremely long and not all that interesting 🥺

I keep hearing that and it's so disappointing. Makes me want to read ACOTAR again instead

message 109: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Oh no, that's such a shame. I held off on pre-ordering and then had fomo with everyone reading it on release day. I'm glad I did, though. I'm second in the queue for it at my library and think I'll just wait for that.

message 110: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments We need just three more books to complete the board. I'm working on one for 60-79 and will have it done tomorrow. The others are 93-94 and 99-00 and I don't have anything to fit those rn, as any I do have are buddies starting next week. I'll have a scour of my shelves and see if I can find something to squeeze in, though :)

message 111: by Aly (last edited Mar 09, 2020 12:22PM) (new)

Aly (alyp_01) | 11128 comments I have a 99 book that I should be able to read tomorrow!
It also can count for 93 so whichever is better :)

message 112: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Oh yay, that's awesome. I guess either would be fine, for now :) I'll try look for a shorter classic on my shelves that has an edition published in the 90s :)

message 113: by Tiera (new)

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments I got several reviews up but have several more to write. My cold meds are kicking in though so I'm drooling on my computer a little lol. I ended up waiting too late because this book House of Earth and Blood (Crescent City, #1) by Sarah J. Maas ended up wrecking me the last 20 chapters or so... The entire thing may have been a whole lot of filler and dead ends but those last few hours.. pins and freaking needles, and all the feels.. all the feels.

message 114: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Maas ALWAYS does that! Her book endings are pretty epic. I hope you feel better soon, though. Cold meds are the worst!

message 115: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments We completed the board :D Woohoo!

I'm working from home so lots of audio time. I also want to try and get through two of the books I'm currently reading and get started on the 100 buddy reads I set up for today, lol!

I'm glad it ended up better!

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments Currently reading 2 more Johanna Lindsey books but I have 6 reviews to write. Trying to pencil them in today sometime! I'm getting a little antsy because I don't know how we are doing in comparison to the other team but I feel like we are pulling out all the stops!!

message 118: by Aly (new)

Aly (alyp_01) | 11128 comments Yeah I agree. I'll try to look for some older reads. I've been catching up on ARCs so they're all 2020 sorry 🙃

message 119: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Just had a peek and the other team have read a ton and most are buddies. I think we're still doing fine though :D

I've been catching up on my arcs too. I neglected them in last month's challenge and got a bit backed up. I've been trying to intersperse them with some older books to keep myself on track with my tbr.

Just about to start The Girl the Sea Gave Back (Sky in the Deep, #2) by Adrienne Young now and really hoping to start Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys tonight as well. Bit early to both of those buddies but I'm on an unintentional binge of sea related books it seems, lol.

message 120: by Tiera (new)

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments Ok I got 4 more reviews up and 7 more to go but my husband is giving me the evil eye because we really need to get our day going so I'm going to try to find time this afternoon/evening to get some more up. Sorry about reviews.. It takes me so freaking long to write them.. I end up spending hours at the computer getting them done lol. I promise I'll catch up!

☆☆Hannah☆☆ | 6596 comments Now that she has updated I see that all we need is 4 more books then we will complete the board again.

30-59
60-79
91-92
03-04

I just got Quinn's Woman by Susan Mallery for 03-04 from the library.

message 122: by Tiera (new)

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments I got a 91-2 and an 03-04 Ready to be reviewed I'll do them first now that I have a minute!

message 123: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Hey guys. I just got on holidays and the internet is rubbish here! I won't be able to update much until I'm home but will be reading a ton :)

message 124: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments I've brought a 30-59 and a 60-79 book with me. There's a major storm brewing here so I'll never be able to sleep. Might as well try and get one or both of those books finished, if I can :D They are both pretty short but classics take me longer so I'll get them up as soon as I can.

message 125: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments @Cinthia did you still want to BR The Bell Jar? I can do anytime after the 21st :)

message 126: by [deleted user] (new)

Dannii wrote: "@Cinthia did you still want to BR The Bell Jar? I can do anytime after the 21st :)"

Yes... I need to do some reviews.. I finally finished Poison Princess (The Arcana Chronicles, #1) by Kresley Cole . I need sleep now though.. I'll update my comments in the GBR and do my review when I wake up.

message 127: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Okay, awesome. What dates work best for you?

And no worries :) I'm not sure how much updating I'll be doing over the next few days as we'll be out a ton but will still be reading as mych as poss :)

message 128: by Tiera (new)

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments I just skimmed the Rules again and it says this in particular

* The year claimed may be for any edition of that book. So a book originally published in 2007, and republished in 2009 could be used for 2007 OR 2009

My question is can I use an audio version publication date? It seems the answer is yes but I want to make sure as 2 of the books I've just added to the spreadsheet to fill out some years, I used the audio publication date.

I know I can't use the audio version for page points which is no problem of course but do you know if this is going to be ok?

I'm sure that'll be fine. I'm quite sure it's any edition of the book for years :)

message 130: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Hey guys, I've just posted my review for 60-79 so we've filled the board again :D I've just had a look and these are all the dates we need to fill the board for a third time:

2013
2011
03-04
01-02
99-00
95-96
93-94
91-92
80-85
60-79
30-59
<1929

That seems like a ton but I can get a bunch of those filled with the books I have on hols so we only need these dates minus those books:

2013
2011
03-04
01-02
99-00
95-96
60-79

Don't know if that helps at all but thought I'd write it all out, more for myself than anything lol :)

message 131: by Aly (new)

Aly (alyp_01) | 11128 comments I'm reading a 2011/2013 book now

Yay! We are doing such an epic job of filling this board :)

message 133: by Tiera (new)

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments I'm going to work on some reviews while I have a minute I have 6 to get up covering a spattering of years. All the ones I've marked Green on the spreadsheet. Only a couple are buddy reads though. Now that I'm not reading the Johanna Lindsey books in order I'll be able to target read for years we need more filled in for. I started putting my Jude Deveraux collection into the spreadsheet but didn't want to get too carried away and over promise under achieve lol. I also want to break away and do a couple GBRs that I voted to be a GBR since I feel like I voted I should at least participate lol.

message 134: by Aly (new)

Aly (alyp_01) | 11128 comments Lately the GBRs have been books I'm not interested in. I wish they were newer releases

message 135: by Tiera (new)

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments I'm pretty sure you can suggest books to add to the list but then they have to be voted on like all the others. I myself am way to impatient to actually wait till its a GBR lol.

message 136: by Aly (new)

Aly (alyp_01) | 11128 comments Ha true. I just want books I'm already going to read so it's easy 😄

I can start today... I've been quite busy at work with this whole virus going on. I work at a mental hospital and they are taking extra precautions and mandating so it's been a weird work schedule... I'm doing my reviews now.

message 138: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I'm caught up...

message 139: by [deleted user] (new)

im in the middle of a couple of books but I can't seem to be picking up old ones... ;(

Oh gosh. I hope you're staying safe and everything works out okay where you are.

I'm on hols at the moment but can start this weekend, if that's okay? I can request the thread once I'm home?

message 141: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments I've never read one of the GBR books. I always forgot to look for them.

message 142: by [deleted user] (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments Hi guys, sorry I've not been reading much the past few days. My business has been hit hard with the new closures due to the virus. Everything has been up in the air and I've been focusing on that. I've fallen super behind on reading but will try and catch up with all I had planned.

message 145: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 3530 comments Hey guys, it's crazy around here w/5 people sharing the computer during lockdown. I do have a couple of reviews to do, but I admit, I haven't been reading much and am instead helping everyone with the transition to remote learning. Oh fun!

I will try to log on and get a few reviews done by the end of the week.

message 146: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments No worries, Jennifer. It's a crazy, scary time right now. I hope you're safe!

message 147: by Aly (new)

Aly (alyp_01) | 11128 comments What year should I use Harry Potter for? It can fit: 97 98 99 00 01 02 03 04 07 08 12 14 15 17

message 148: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9887 comments We only have two spaces to fill to complete the board again. I can get a book read for 91-92 tomorrow so do you want to go for 03-04 and we can complete it?

message 149: by Aly (new)

Aly (alyp_01) | 11128 comments Okay I'll post it now

message 150: by Tiera (new)

Tiera McMillian (hawtmess) | 3419 comments I've gotten super busy with the kids and such but I'm still reading just need to catch up on reviews. All my green ones on the spreadsheet are done and waiting and I'm still reading I'll have them all up soon!
