Read-A-Thon #1: Individual Challenge

If team games aren’t your thing, or you’re just looking for some additional challenge for the week, this read-a-thon has some solo fun for you!

Object: Finish books in order to make your way through a maze. Each book finished earns you a specified number of moves.



Move Right
- A book with a living thing on the cover
- A book set in the “East” (e.g. Far East, Middle East, Eastern US, etc.)
- A book you discovered in this group
- The newest book on you shelf
- A book tagged: east, coming-of-age, favorite, or friendship
- Author initials found in the word “direction”
- A book that has 29 in the page number

Move Left
- A book set in the “West” (e.g. Western countries, Wild West, Western US, etc.)
- A book published in February
- A book with a green cover
- A book that is 2nd on a list
- A book tagged: journey, culture, 2020, or 5-star
- Author initials found in the word “departure”

Move Down
- A book set in the southern hemisphere
- The book that has been on your shelf the longest
- A book connected to the last book you finished (e.g.. award winners, author, title, cover, topic/content, etc.)
- A book inspired by or connected to Black History Month
- A book tagged: thought-provoking, inspirational, nature, or mental health
- Author initials found in the word “determination”

Move Up
- A book set in the northern hemisphere
- A book by an author that has written 2 or fewer books, or more than 29
- A book with a cursive title
- A book with a neon/glowing cover
- A book tagged: spring, narrative, wishlist, or humor
- Author initials found in the word “uplifting”

’Bank’ a finished book to use later in the maze by participating in any group activity (i.e discussions, games, group map)

Complete any read-a-then games = 1 space
Under 200 pages = 3 spaces
201-500 pages = 5 spaces
Over 500 pages = 8 spaces

If you hit a "wall" with one of your moves, you can turn in the needed direction in order to finish your earned spaces

Note: the maze has multiple paths. You can chose whichever best suits your reading plans

I just added a guide under the spoiler. It contains a grid guide and potential routes.

If you don’t want to see solutions, the grid guide basically just gives you letters on the horizontal and numbers on the vertical. So the exit square would be L5.
