Q: Will translated works count for the word in title and in text?
A: Yes! The direct translation of each of the words/phrases may be used.
Q: If the author's first and last names start with the same letter, does the letter need to appear twice in the word/phrase?
A: Yes! Once for each initial.
Q: How can I find out if the word/phrase is in my book?
A: If you read ebook, your service should have a search feature where you can search for the words in the book.
If you are reading a print book, often, Amazon has the feature to search within the book. If you go to the Amazon page, click Look Inside, and type the word in the search bar.
Q: Is there a minimum page count for books in the team challenge?
A: Yes, in order to count books towards the word/phrase, it should be at least 100 pages long. You can count shorter books towards the pages read, however.
Q: For authors that use multiple names, do we need to include the middle initial for the task?
A: Nope! First and last initial are the only requirements. (For example, Robert Louis Stevenson would be RS, not RLS.)
Q: With the audiobook hours, are they the hours you’ve actually listened to, or the hours they would be at 1x speed?
A: You would mark how much of the book you've read, so it would be the 1x speed.
Q: One of the prompts is "kittens". Would the word "kitten" in text work?
A: The requirements for the in text task would be the exact wording. In this case, only "kittens" would work, not "kitten".
If you haven´t noticed I´m the kind of person who asks clarification questions.I assume that other languages count for:

4: The word/phrase is written exactly or acted out within the book
I mean: For your example "sommerfugl" means butterfly in Danish and I read a book where "sommerfugl" is in title or text - it will count right?

I'm assuming the first book in the spreadsheet is an example, but I don't see how it works for the categories that have been added to it...

Of course I have a question LOL. Is there a minimum page requirement for tasks? I have a few picture books coming in from the library.
Also to clarify on the title/cover, one of my current books is A Clash of Kings. Would that work for cover for some thing like The Lion King? word King(s), there is an image of a crown on the cover.

Carmen, I would go with whatever your app says. I usually input the amount of book hours I've listened (so the 1x speed), not the amount of hours I've actually spent listening (I listen at 1.25x), because I'm terrible at tracking my time spent doing anything lol.

I have about 3 hours left on a nearly 9 hour book, can I use this book for the read-a-thon. I believe the total number of pages left would be over 100. I am reading a graphic novel and was wondering if you should use the adapter/artist the author? This is how good reads credits:

As for the author/adapter, I will say that you can use either name. Margaret Atwood is the author, but since the adapter is listed first, I'd say you can go with MA or RN for the names... whichever works best for you.
Emily or other mod....Under our puppy tab where I put Karissa's book back in, the text won't wrap and I am worse at using google sheets than I am at excel... Can someone please fix the cell?
Hi! When our team have reached the highest level of wildcards for audio, can we then convert the rest of the audio hours to pages instead?
Is there a different page count minimum for graphic novels? Or is 100 pages still fine for counting toward the challenge?

Question. The word extinction is in the text of my current read. Is extinction close enough to extinct to use for the dinosaur level?
I have a question too - if I’ve read a book by two authors and one of the author’s initials is present in a word/phrase but not the other, does that count? Or do both authors’ initials need to be in the word/phrase?

No, it would need to be exact.

For teams wanting to use a Wild Card, you would put the word WILD CARD in the spot where the book title would go. On the Pages/Hours Tracking tab, put the level and word you used the Wild Card for.

Helloooo!If any of two authors of a book can count, does that also count for the illustrator? For example, the author of my book doesn't work for any prompts, but the illustrator of the book (and it's a big part of the book) does!

If you haven't signed up for the team challenge yet, head to this thread to be added to a team.
The goal of this team challenge is, of course, to read! In this challenge, your goal is to get as many Wildlife Badges as you can. Each level will earn you a badge, and your team can complete the levels in any order you choose.
If you complete the first four levels, you will unlock a *magical* fifth level. Complete all five to earn the "Bought the Zoo" badge for your team!
THE RULES
Each level has a set of words or phrases that you must fulfill in one of four ways:
1: Both of the author's initials are in the word/phrase
2: The word/phrase is in the title
3: The cover depicts something related to the word/phrase
4: The word/phrase is written exactly or acted out within the book

For example, if the word is "Butterflies", the prompts could possibly be filled like so:
1: Both of the author's initials are in the word/phrase - The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager
2: The word/phrase is in the title - In the Time of the Butterflies
3: The cover depicts something related to the word/phrase -
4: The word/phrase is written exactly or acted out within the book - The Downstairs Girl contains the phrase, "I saw butterflies on my walk"
Each word/phrase only needs to be fulfilled by one of the four options. (You do not need to find four books to fill one word/phrase.)

Your team should choose one level to work on and complete before moving on to the next level, but the levels can be completed in any order.
There is also a Wild Card option that can be triggered by reading a certain number of pages or listening to a certain amount of audiobook hours. These wild cards can be banked and used when needed for any word/phrase that is causing your team difficulty.
We have created a spreadsheet for each team, so they have a place to begin when planning and completing tasks.
