Pretty sure i said this back when i was reading Firefight, but since both series start in Chicago, someone NEEDS to do a Dresden Fils/Reckoners crossover.
Imagine Harry and Molly and everyone else just going about their business in Chicago, then BOOM! Calamity goes up and gives normal people power even stronger than theirs. Then Steelheart does his thing and Newcago happens. Like they'd stand for THAT, right? Harry, Molly, Karrin, Thomas, Butters, (view spoiler), and Marcone end up crossing pathes with the Reckoners sometime between Steelheart and Firefight and they team up for an old testament beatdown on a High Epic...
Cody and Abraham got totally shafted in Firefight, so it'd be giving them extra time/dialogue.

But one-starring a book (that little snip was based on shit i've actually read in reviews) because the VILLAIN was TOXIC?
I mean... Did you want them to be sweet and supportive of the hero? Because what you want is contemporary romance, not urban fantasy, sweetie.
I can't actually remember what series it was about (a vampire series i think?) but i remember dying of laughter when i read that.It's like an author and a book become 'problematic' (my new least favorite buzzword) if the frakking BAD guy in their book is abusive, racist, an attacker, etc, because they even portrayed it AT ALL.
The same reason people hate SAO so much.
The scene is question was not romantic. It was abuse by a VILLAIN, same as Kill la Kill. Maybe there should be TWs in descriptions or something, that wouldn't bother me at all, but to out-right drag the creator/author for portraying an evil thing like racism or assault?
