Kristel | 586 comments We still have one mini task not claimed:

23. Read a book where someone prepares (lots of) food.

From the captains' thread, to help you figure out what can work:):
#23 I was wanting to keep that open to include people who are constantly preparing food in a cafe etc (for example) as lots of people are reading cozy mysteries. And for some reason those characters are always and constantly preparing food haha.

So sorry, Kristel! Guess I'm just bored and anxious all at once... This is a very strange situation that we suddenly all find ourselves in.

The governor of Hawaii just instituted a mandatory 14 day quarantine to anyone arriving here from elsewhere. Residents must stay at home & visitors must stay at their hotels/lodging. This will effectively seal our borders...
Because I work at a hospital, I am deemed essential -- even though I am not direct patient care. My husband works for Napa, a store that provides auto parts, so he's also considered essential. My son is a cook at a bar & grill. They will not be doing take out orders, so he is now unemployed...

Anne, the mayor & governor here listed veterinary services among essential. You have a very important job. 😊 Who knows? You may be pressed into people-tending service? Eek!

I promise to finish my last 2 coloured books this weekend, just in case some of you are getting a bit nervous about if I make it ;-)

I completed “Nine Perfect Strangers today”. It can be placed as number 3 (character named Heather)

If you go to Together We Caught Fire page under "Amazon" And "Online Stores" is a link to other editions where you can choose the one you read.

This book had 3 other editions:
Hardcover - Together We Caught Fire
Kindle - Together We Caught Fire
ebook - Together We Caught Fire

Pick whichever you read and then click "switch to this edition" and that should do it:)

message 575: by Kristel (new)

Kristel | 586 comments Anne wrote: "Is the story for March mini supposed to be space based as well?"

From March mini thread:
Once you have everything you need to get ready, tell us a little story, why don't you?
A little anticipation on what you expect to encounter in your preparations, or your travels. Maybe a crazy mishap during your travels, maybe a totally wonderful yet incredibly unbelievable romance....

Use the titles of 15 books to tell us your memoirs. Be as creative as you like. You can use as much or as little of a title as you see fit.

From that, I understand that it should be spacey at least a little bit😅.

I'll post a list of all the books we could potentially use for the story in my next comment, so all of us can see what we have to work with:)

message 576: by Kristel (last edited Mar 28, 2020 04:21AM) (new)

Kristel | 586 comments Books we could use for the story:

1. The Reptile Room
2. Why is the Penis Shaped Like That?
3. The Three-Body Problem
4. AREA 51
5. The Tattooist of Auschwitz
6. Outtakes from the Grave
7. Stay Sexy & Don’t Get Murdered
8. Cocoa and Chanel
9. Lothaire
10. The Wedding Date
11. Blood of the Earth
12. The Meat Hunter
13. The Fox Hunt
14. Together We Caught Fire
15. Anne of Green Gables

16 Twenty-Nine and a Half Reasons
17 The Third Angel
18 Ace of Shades
19 Finding Perfect
20 The Bride Test
21 On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous
22 Fallen Too Far
23 Never Too Far
24 Salvage the Bones
25 Nine Perfect Strangers
26 Sugar Free
27 Concealed in Death
28 The Wind in the Willows
29 Sorcery of Thorns

We have to use 15 books to tell the story. We can use as much or as little of a title as we see fit.

Anne (dagdvm) | 441 comments So I could use "tattoo" instead of "tattooist" ?

message 578: by Anne (new)

Anne (dagdvm) | 441 comments She had the BODY of a REPTILE - slow and cold - but the mind of a crafty FOX. She was a PERFECT STRANGER to me but TOGETHER WE CAUGHT FIRE.
On our WEDDING day we received our sacred, matching TATTOOS and then blasted off to the planet LOTHAIRE for our honeymoon.
ON EARTH WE were BRIEFLY GORGEOUS, but on Lothaire we were FINDING PERFECT. THE MEAT HUNTERS brought us gifts of BONES as we floated down the SUGARy, COCOA-flavored river while THE THIRD ANGEL sang to us. (The first and second angels were tone deaf.)

Kristel | 586 comments Anne wrote: "So I could use "tattoo" instead of "tattooist" ?"

I don't know about that. Going from "tattooist" to "tattoo" is changing the word and it isn't in the title. I'll try to add to the story to make something work:)

Otherwise, your story is amazing! Great work!😃

message 583: by Kristel (new)

Kristel | 586 comments Anne I just realized that you used Finding Perfect and The Third Angel in your story. Both were previously in the task portion of the mini and we can't use a book both for the task part and the story part.

Thankfully I think I managed to find alternatives for the tasks:

9. Read a book that was first published in 2019.
Switched Finding Perfect with Exhalation: Stories

24. Read a book with lights on the cover.
Switched The Third Angel with Stella in Stilettos

If everybody reads all of the books they have promised, then we don't need any backups. I don't think it's necessary for you to add your books to the ss.
