Kristel | 586 comments We are doing quite well with the first part of the mini! Only 3 tasks left unclaimed.

The second part of the mini wants us to create a story about preparing and traveling to space.

From March mini rules:
Once you have everything you need to get ready, tell us a little story, why don't you?
A little anticipation on what you expect to encounter in your preparations, or your travels. Maybe a crazy mishap during your travels, maybe a totally wonderful yet incredibly unbelievable romance....

If any of you are reading books that won't fit in part 1 of the mini but can think how to use the title (or parts of it) in a story, let me know! Writing is definitely one of my weakest points😅.

Everything is either closed or cutting back on hours. I thought the worst thing was going to be finding toilet paper, but then -- horror of horrors! -- yesterday, they announced the public libraries will all be closed til further notice! *Gasp* Thank goodness I have 89 books out which will see me through till the end of our challenge...
Seriously, I hope everyone is doing ok & no one gets sick!

Franziska, you be especially careful, please!

Kristel | 586 comments Estonia is in a state of emergency until May 1st. Many places are closed (including schools) and large gatherings are forbidden until then or when the crisis is considered averted. Shopping malls have to keep their grocery stores and pharmacies open, everybody else is mostly given free rein to either close or shorten their working hours how they see fit. A lot of bars are closing voluntarily because the government forbid selling alcohol after 10 pm to discourage people to go outside. Thankfully it seems that our grocery shops have been able mostly to bounce back from last week's panic buying and yesterday I was able to get a bag of oats.

So, I'm trying to stay inside as much as possible, unfortunately, I work in a science field and we are still expected to work as much as possible. Thankfully I work in a university and my instructor has asked us to stay home and not come in unless it's absolutely necessary:)

I'm doing good, but it still feels kind of unreal. We have 89 confirmed cases here in Minnesota. I don't have work anymore, nor in person classes. Everything was moved online, and it's kind of weird that this is how I'm ending my university years. I'm a little sad that they canceled the commencement ceremonies. With all that's going on, it's been a little hard to concentrate on school work. Sadly, they have closed public libraries here as well :( On the bright side, I'm getting a lot of time for reading, so that's been good.

I hope everybody is okay! Everybody be careful and safe :)

Anne (dagdvm) | 441 comments I am doing O.K. in this pandemic scare. I am over the age of 65 so in theory I should stay home from work, but I can't afford to. I'm a veterinarian and we have set up a system where the pet is taken into the clinic while the owner waits in their car. Once I have examined the pet I call the owner on their cell and talk. It seems to be working quite well. But we are only supposed to be seeing sick dogs, not well ones needing just vaccines, so our business is way down. I am paid a percentage of what I bring in, so this will be a bad month financially. I don't know if we will count as an essential service if we get completely locked down.
My husband works in a large grocery store so I am really worried about his high level of exposure to the public, and hence the virus.
Right now I am off for a long weekend, so I don't have to think about work for a few days - and I can get a lot of reading done. 😆

I think your job should count as an essential service. My dog is elderly, and we had a very big scare about 6 weeks ago. I was wondering if veterinary services would be available in case something happens. I sure hope they continue to be available. Pets are family too.

Well, of course I agree, but there are a lot of non-animal people out there who probably wouldn't. Farm animal vets are essential without a doubt, with all the industrial animal farming that goes on (that I try not to participate in, but that is another topic.). We only see pets.
