Kate (kcbond) | 248 comments Hi all,

I thought this had posted last week but apparently it had not. I've been doing a lot of unexpected traveling for work, mostly in rural Oklahoma which is the main reason for my silence - it's hard to follow conversations when I'm on the road most of the day or in meetings and I have found it especially hard to try and follow strategy without being more involved in the conversations. I apologize for that and I'm hoping that March will slow down, especially as we are bringing someone on board in my office to help with events coming up.

On to the completion post

Speedy read! Thanks for taking that one - and luckily it seems like it wasn't too bad ;-)

Gotta hate when work gets in the way of reading ;-)

Sounds like it's quite stressful for you though. I hope as well that things will settle a bit on March.

Also, adding this to the Feb Mini for 2 as the book was published in February, on the 2nd even!

Since we haven't gotten a response on this regarding the mini challenge, I added it for "moon" as item on the cover.

Sophie, I've moved yours to "diagonally" instead.

Eldarwen | 5004 comments What's left to complete for the mini challenge

- cold
- cornflour
- dry
- glass
- kiwifruit
- limes
- orange (Sharon is reading for it)
- peaks
- plate
- pure
- shredded
- starfruit (Sophie is reading for it)
- stomach
- sugar
- thickened
- touch
- white (E is reading for it - almost done)
- 1
- 3
- 6
- 12
- 24
- 300

I assume that a number of these will be filled with the books Raven still needs to post. Jessica still has a few she hasn't posted either.

Remember:
For the numbers, the page numbers need to be exact. Or it has to be a number in series or in relation with the publication date.
For cornflour, lime, kiwi, orange etc, we can also use cover colours.

I have a book with exactly 300 pages I can start today - I will be done with my white book shortly - but I can also pick up a book for a different number in case someone else has a book with 300 pages they're dying (or at least willing hehe) to read.

Sharon (sherbear89) It also has stomach if you need one more than the other

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Awesome!

Those are two good ones to have.

We can always switch books around if necessary as well. I've had a stomach book or two, but don't recall orange in any of them.

message 469: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Exciting! Will have another look through my books and see what I can cover. Sure there will be some reverse options, even if just from what everyone has been reading last month.

message 470: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I've already nabbed the 7 Red so I can read Silver Silence :-)

I really really want to read Chasing Cassandra with its lovely blue cover but at first sight I don't see it fitting for any of the blue cards we have, but I'll have a look inside the book tonight at home, maybe something will jump out at me.

For Reverse, I could read Water for Elephants and there are a few other options I found last month.

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Raven,

before you go to the trouble of posting all the other books in the Demon Headmaster series...

Can you confirm if the word counts are over 25k for all of them?

I can only find books #2 (Prime Minister's Brain) and #3 (strikes again) on arbookfind and those are the ones I thus know are over 30k, but the others...

Without certainty of a wordcount over 25k, we can NOT use books with the childrens' tag. (It's in the rules.)

They are all on arbookfind and are all have a wordcount over 30k

message 483: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments I can't find them o.O

Even when I look with the ISBN.

But since you can confirm, then all good! :-) *phew*!

message 488: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sherbear89) Or 12 because the book takes place in December (12th month) does seem a bit of a stretch though

message 489: by Eldarwen (new)

Thanks :-)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Sharon wrote: "Or 12 because the book takes place in December (12th month) does seem a bit of a stretch though"

That would work, too.

Either one is good!

12 might be better since that is probably more difficult to fill.

For sugar, we can switch stuff around if necessary with other incoming books.

message 491: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Fab thanks Sharon. Unless something v surprising happens I don't think we're going to manage to finish the mini-challenge in the next 2 days, but anything we can add helps.

We've got 4 slots left in the main cards - Wild, 1, 2, Skip and we're aware of people reading to cover them all so the pressure is off for those. Well done everyone for reading so much this month to get the main cards done.

Those of you who have looked at the spreadsheet will notice there's another card of 7 books to read next time round, so I hope you aren't all sick of reading yet.

message 492: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sherbear89) At least we are able to finish the main challenge. I’ll be limited in the first 2 weeks of March due to moving. I’ll do my best though

message 493: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments I'm reading something that covers shredded and one for 24.

This leaves us with:
Cold
Cornflour (can be a white cover)
dry
Kiwifruit
Limes
Pure
Stomach
Thickened
Touch
1
3

message 494: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments Good luck with the move! Hope it goes smoothly - audio books might be the answer if you get desperate to read

message 495: by Eldarwen (new)

Eldarwen | 5004 comments Since there were no further comments with regards to the team's recipe, I think we can safely say that we're done with it.

Sophie, would you please send it per pm to the Pixie account at your convenience so we can snag our bonus points for the mini challenge?

Thank you! :-)

Sophie (drsophie) | 717 comments GOOD NEWS

With that set of Raven's completions we've finished the main challenge for the month! Well done everyone and thanks for your reading time.

2 task remain to us:
1. Finish the mini-challenge. We've got books earmarked for all but 4 of the tasks so it's achievable with a bit of planning now. If anyone has a quick book with a white cover they could read for cornflour, that would really help.

2. Start planning for March! If anyone has something they can read for the colour cards or the reverse we'd love to hear about it!
