Team Spaceship Shortbread
Tracking postI’m not sure if this would be able to be counted for 1 and 2 as it is the first and second book in a series combined but I’m not too worried about that as I was just wondering.
Book: The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries Volume 1: Real Murders and A Bone to Pick
Author: Charlaine Harris
2- character last name Teagarden
3- author last name Harris
6- character Sally

Lisa, usually when books are combined like this we have to treat them as 2 separate books, as long as each meets the minimum page requirement, which they do. :) The exception is for short stories combinations which is treated as a single book when everything is read.
I'll add them to the spreadsheet for you, but can you give me the date you finished reading? They'll likely have different dates, unless you finished them both on the same day. Also, are those two characters present in books 1 and 2?

I finished book one today 2/8. Book 2 I am just starting now. I’m not sure if all characters are the same but at least the main character is Aurora Teagarden.
@BarbaraAnn - I added my name to your book Club Shadowlands since I've read it before. If anyone notices that they've already read one of my books for this challenge, feel free to add your name in the reverse column.

Thanks Raine - by any chance have you read any of the other books in the Shadowlands series? For the next two weeks I'm playing the Bachelor team game in the Romance Readers group. the themes for this week is bdsm or inspirational
BarbaraAnn wrote: "Thanks Raine - by any chance have you read any of the other books in the Shadowlands series? For the next two weeks I'm playing the Bachelor team game in the Romance Readers group. the themes for this week is bdsm or inspirational."Yes, I've read through to the 6th book:
Dark Citadel Book 2
Breaking Free Book 3
Lean on Me Book 4
Make Me, Sir Book 5
To Command and Collar Book 6
Also, we're doing really well on the colors! We only have 3 left, and they have been claimed by Tiffany, Lisa and Denise. :)
Karla, did you use this link? https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...Also, for audiobooks it has to be over 3 hours, not 2. But your book is over 3, so we're good. :)

Our official team spreadsheet is 'view only' to everyone except captain and co captains. The tracking spreadsheet is the one that has many options that will fit each book, and that one is open to everyone. When you're able to, check the link I sent above and see if it works. :)
Hi everyone - the mini challenge is officially up. For the next 2 weeks all books finished can count for both the regular uno hand and a mini challenge slot. The mini challenge is based on words and numbers but you can be creative - for instance one of the words is limes - you can find the word limes in a book you're reading or maybe read a book with a green cover because limes are green. If you can justify why the book fits, it will fit.
The mini-challenge was added to our team spreadsheet - i also added it to the tracking sheet, but it didn't come out as well.
You may want to check out the mini-challenge thread as well.
In addition - we receive extra points if anyone can come up with a recipe for Spaceship Shortbread. Any bakers in the group?
Hi,It needs to be a book per word, but if you have multiple words that match a book, please mark that into the tracking sheet (or post the information on the team thread). That way, if it turns out that certain words are easy to find, we can switch them around a bit.
Anubha, I deleted some of your books from the mini challenge because they were finished before the 14th. Only books finished the 14th and later qualify. Also, you accidentally wrote Of Mice and Men for two ingredients, so I deleted one of them and added the second option it can be used for in a different column. :)
Thanks for informing about the mini challenge but according to Barbara if one has multiple words, they could mark it on spreadsheet, that's why I marked them.
Also, can any of the captains or co-captain update the main tracking sheet so we would know which blanks are still vacant.
I have added some new books to some of the categories of mini challenge, all read on 14th feb or after. If there are further edits, please let me know :)
It looks like the spreadsheet is updated now. At the rate we're going we won't have any problems finishing it up. :)As for the words in the mini challenge, you only claim one spot per book, but you add the other options it could fit to the side of the spreadsheet. That way if someone is only able to find an option that's already been taken they can move that book to a new spot where it fits. :)

Hi everyone - I'm just posting to clarify the numbers part of the mini-challenge:Underlined numbers -
There are 3 categories:
page numbers
series number
publication date
Numbers for the publication date can be the month or the day or the last two digits of the publication year. (3 digit numbers can not be used for publication date)
Publication date is for the edition being read (and shelved).

if the number itself was within the text, would that also work?
Hi - if the number is significant to the story it might. Speaking of which - has anyone read a book ended after 2/14 that has a baby in it? Maybe a baby could be used for passionfruit on the mini-challenge (baby is the fruit of parent's passion).
BarbaraAnn wrote: "Hi - if the number is significant to the story it might. Speaking of which - has anyone read a book ended after 2/14 that has a baby in it? Maybe a baby could be used for passionfruit on the mini..."I finished one yesterday that has a baby in it. :)
Also, there are some books in the main SS finished 2/14 and after that are not in the mini. I'm happy to try to add them to the mini if it will help.

Our main spreadsheet is complete. Good job, everyone! We still have spaces left in the mini challenge, so any books you finish can still go for those. :)
Hi everybody - The last week is coming up and I think our team is doing great! Here are the items still needed:
Main hands - ALL DONE!
Mini-Challenge:
Words -
Airtight
Kiwifruit - has anyone read a book since the 14th with cover includes green and brown? That might work
Starfruit - according to google, starfruits are bright yellow when ripe with traces of green.
Numbers:
6 - Any books finished after 14th that are 6th in series or publishe on the 6th of a month or in June?
24 - any book published on the 24th of a month (or 24 in series)
120 - I think the last three needs to be page numbers
270 - I think the last three needs to be page numbers
300 - I think the last three needs to be page numbers
We also need a recipe for Spaceship shortbread. Any bakers in the group?
Since this is the last week of the month, can everyone please either mark in the tracking sheet or post in the thread when you start a book that will fit one of the mini-challenge books? I'll read a 300 pg book - Not Dead Yet
Karla wrote: "Daughter has had the flu and went to add the three books I finished while caring for her. The sheet is all full. Do you want me to hold on to them for next month then? Also, do you want us to keep..."
I don't think anything started before March 1 will count towards the hands next month, since the rules stated nothing started before Feb 1 for this month. So I wouldn't read anything hoping to be used for the March hands until then.
Karla wrote: "Then I would check on that for sure. Our team last year just kept reading, so I’d really like to know. I’ve done a lot of work that won’t count now."Hi - I just double-checked and as long as your book was started after 2/1, it's fine to start the book in February and finish it in March.
Sorry to hear about your daughter Karla - the flu is never fun and even worse for children. Hope they feel better soon.
Karla, the 3 books you finished won't be able to be used in March. They can be started after Feb 1 but have to be finished after March 1 to count. So, it's okay to keep reading, but if we want the books to be counted in March we can't completely finish them until the 1st. :)
This is my first time participating so I am quite unfamiliar with how the challenge works but since this is a team challenge shouldn't it be more equally divided? I do not have any experience but I did check other groups' progress and the captains and co captains have equally divided the cards and given everyone an opportunity rather than on first come, first serve basis. They also have put up various book options that Karla stated in her text which can be read for a given colour and that is really helpful. Maybe one can set a deadline say till 25 March everyone has to complete the cards they are given and then other team members can fill those after the deadline? It's just a request to the managing captains to make the experience more friendly than a competitive one. Every one has a career and can't always compete to read first so that all cards don't get filled up. Basically, a request if the captains can take some time to manage the team and divide the card evenly giving everyone equal opportunities considering everyone wants to participate but not every one can read at fast pace cuz real life happens.
Karla, nobody intentionally filled anything to make it unfair. The hands were simply filled to make sure they were able to be completed, but we are more than able to go back in and change out hands to more spread out who completed them. Like you said, it’s not the end of the month yet, so nothing is set in stone. This is my first experience with this game, so February was a learning curve for me. I think our team is made up of a good selection of different style readers, and now that we’ve seen the way it flows, we can change things up a little. Please don’t rush off, as you’ve not given any of the captains a chance to communicate with you. Why don’t you let us captains chat this out, and we will see what sort of plan we can come up with?
Hi Anubha - I'm not sure dividing the cards equally would be an improvement because the mods deliberately set the team up so each team has players who expect to read a few books a month and some who will read more. That's one of the reasons that part of the sign up is that everyone enters the number of books they'd feel comfortable reading each month. We have some people on the team who signed up for 2 books a month and some who signed up for more. What I can do next month is wait to enter the cards into the hands until the last week of the month so that no one feels like they're being left out. The cards have to be updated by the 12th (UNO Pixie sent a reminder around the 10th) but I can hold off on updating the sheet until the last week of the month so that everyone can equally be counted. As far as colors go - I think there's a few lists that people use. I'll set up links to that. I think that may be more helpful than offering books I have for colors - for instance, the yellow books you read in February are ones I would never have thought of (I've added them to my list for the future).
Please let me know if you think this would help - I want our team to be happy and for everyone to feel valued.
Hi Everyone - the month is almost over and a new month is on the way! Every month is an opportunity for change. Here are links to all the color cards people have previously tagged.

Hi Karla - can you please confirm that this is the link you're trying to access?
team sheet
Cinthia's right - you don't need to enter anything into this sheet but you should be able to access it to see what cards we have this month.
Just in case, I've added a sheet with the hands to the tracking sheet. that way, you can see what cards we have this month
